Where to start?
Hi All, I've decided after 1 round of chemo to forgo the rest of the treatments. In September, I was diagnosed with DCIS. After surgery, final pathology showed a 4mm IDC. My MO convinced me to do chemo, but I do not feel personally for me it is the right answer. I really need some suggestions for supplements and diet. Should I do a cleanse? Last week after chemo was worst I have ever felt mentally and physically. I want these toxins out of my body! Thank you so much!

Hi, you could do a search for "foods that cleanse the body" and make a list of those foods and eat them. Its mostly fruits and veggies of course. As for cancer treatment, a lot of the ladies are taking DIM. Search these boards and you will find lots of info on that. Other good supplements are turmeric, boswellia, maitake extract. And of course take vit D. Those are the ones I take but there are many more if you look around the complimentary and alternative sections. I have never done an actual cleanse but I use the foods to help the bodys natural cleansing process.

Start by finding a integrated MO to help with supplements. Its too confusing to try and do on your own
Go organic as much as you can
Have clean source of water
I am going vegan. Am eliminating sweets. -
Hi SLB, I'm so sorry chemo was such an awful experience for you! I agree with fredntan that it's best to find an integrative oncologist, or a naturopath, to help you with alternative treatments, not only because it's too confusing to do on your own, but because it's not such a great idea to take medical/health advice from us random, mostly untrained people on the Internet. That said, this forum is full of great information that you can read through and use to make your own decisions. Since the first few months, especially, following a cancer diagnosis are usually stressful and overwhelming, it really helps a LOT - in my opinion - to seek guidance from a professional of some sort. Ask around in your community, maybe at a local breast cancer support group or someone at the hospital (were you assigned a nurse or social worker?), if there are any recommended providers. Trying to do this on your own is rough - when everyone here is touting a different food or supplement (take Vitamin D! Fish oil! Broccoli! Reishi! Green tea!), it can just make your head spin.
If you think a book could be helpful at this point, my surgeon recommended "Anti-Cancer" by Dr. David Servan Schrieber, and my whole family read it and loved it. It's uplifting, full of actual steps you can take to reduce your cancer risk, focused on diet, exercise, and stress-reducing strategies.
Choosing supplements is complex. Diet can be, too, but the basics are, eat organic as much as possible, and eat a wide variety of fruits and vegetables.

Coriolus PSP supplements (and other mushroom extracts like Chaga and Agaricus blazei as well) are an excellent way to neutralize the side effects of chemo. Have a look at this case study: http://oriveda.com/zips/PSP_TRIALS.pdf
When looking for a supplement make sure you buy an extract, not just useless powder!!! Read this blog to find out why this is important and how to distinguish good from bad: http://supplement-facts.org/2012-6.php
Hope this helps!!
