I heard on the radio that McD is donating to Komen for each premium chicken salad until June 11. Seems like a good time to try that Asian salad.

I've actually tried the Asian a few weeks ago on a bike ride-can't say I was impressed!! But I forgot to put the slivered almonds on and that could have made the difference.

I love Yoplait yogurt and they're doing the lids for bc research again now thru July.

    Rose--
I don't know what your feelings on the pink shirt for the Komen race were exactly, but with so many women walking and how many men??--couldn't they have done a female-cut shirt? Would they cost much more?

You know I am still comtemplating Eagle Brand(sweetened condensed milk in Texas) in coffee!

Laura I am with you, I feel absolutely drained if I leave out the protein. I just do better with it. I havent tried the Asian salad, next time the boys beg for Mac Ds I will try it.

The Asian was a disappointment. Have you tried the Bacon Ranch Grilled Chicken salad?? That one is tasty - only 5 points!

I'm not a fan of bacon especially in a salad, so I don't eat that one. That means not too many McD's salads for me.

I guess I like Wendys' better. We have Runza here (rather local like Valentinos pizza), it's some places in Kansas too, and they've got a couple I like so we usually get our fast food salad there--but I bet they've got more calories and would be far more than your 5 points.

Tina - No. I get the low fat italian and it's 1 pt. Low fat honey mustard is 2 but our mcds never has it...

Ginger, I LOVE Wendy's Mandarin Chicken salad but with the dressing and nuts and stuff it's 14. Since I only get 24 a day, it's not worth it.

So have the Bacon Ranch Grilled Chicken and don't do the Ranch dressing? One thing I like about McD is that the dressing is always on the side. Sometimes I feel fussy asking for that.

I bought some fat free sweetened condensed milk for the iced coffee. It is still loaded with sugar, but no fat. I'm having company this week so I'm saving it for when they're here.

    Kari--

I don't do WW, but try to watch calories--even though staying away from saturated and trans fats is more important than calories to me-- I don't know what 15 points is in calories. I'll have to check the nutrition info. I suspect that that dressing is on the high cal side. Wonder about the noodles too.

Did you know if you get the oriental salad at Applebee's you can ask for grilled chicken instead of the coated deep-fried stuff? I don't often get that because it seems light on the greens and heavy on noodles, but dh gets it every time.

Gosh that is a lot of points for a salad! Ginger there is a formula but a short of it is they take the calories and the fat vs fiber in the equation. So a meal of 7pts or more is huge amount of calories that are probably unhealthy overall. Unless of course most of the points are veggies and fruit.

coffee with condensed milk is a treat for me when i go to a thai or a vietnamese restaurant...love it...

lots of protein eating these days for me, with the addition of daily helping of meats...am going to try moving to wholewheat pastas for carbo loading and physical activity...

i get a real low fat ranch at trader joes...

i love throwing chicken or steak into my salad...

definitely i am moving into more fat and calories these days...

i am at the other end of the spectrum, too skinny trying to stay low fat...

my boyfriend constantly battles the buldge...i think it is all hereditary...

moderation is key and happiness is paramount...

seize the day and make it a great one ladies, whatever you eat!

Ginger, definately ask for it with grilled chicken - the worst they can do is say no and you pick something else! Have you tried the confetti chicken at applebees?? That's pretty tasty.

I am back on the wagon after consuming or rather hoovering 3 rather large pieces of fudge I bought at Art in the Park yesterday. 1 was cappucino flavored, 1 chocolate and 1 orange/chocolate combo. Damn! they were good but now back to reality. I packed my lunch with a Lean Cuisine chicken dinner, I grilled some asparagus and bought some seedless watermelon and grapes.
My challenge is passing the Golden Arches on my way home from work tonight at 11pm Filet of fish always seems to call my name.....very loud I might add!

I think I'll take the long way home.

    Best wishes, Tina

Well whoopee for me-I am down 5 pounds. What is helping is that now I am having daily salads with my very own home-grown lettuce, mesclun, spinach and green onions! Then I throw in lots of fresh veggies and some grilled chicken and diet dressing.
Another whoopee-I finally can have my Lat Flap to replace the saline implant that I lost a year ago to a staph infection. It will be sometime in July, I think.
Just had to throw this in here-I have been waiting for 3 1/2 years to recover my body parts! I am so excited!

Five pounds - that's wonderful. Don't you feel great!

Glad to hear the LatFlap is a go. Keep up the good work.

Tina - I love fudge. At least you just bought a couple of pieces. It's dangerous to buy a whole pound.

Wonderful Denise! How's your plantars fasciitis? Last I heard you were really getting in some walking too.

Cowgirl, if 7 points is bad, I've got to stay away from oriental salads!!

Kari, we do order the oriental with grilled chicken. My nephew, who is a Phd student in food science says the oriental chicken is about the worst thing to order for calories, fat, etc. He's working on a pill to lower cholesterol made from some plant we grow around here.

    And--enjoy your vacation!!

    Thanks gals, for the encouragement!
Ginger, my plantar faciitis is finally getting better. Sometimes I actually don't have much pain when I walk, unless I am on my feet all day.
I walk 2 miles daily, but don't know when to do aerobics. I probably won't even start them, as I don't want to make my foot bad again. By the time that I can start exercising after my surgery, my foot should be a lot better.

Yeah, waiting until after your surgery is probably a good idea. Don't want to rush things and end up with a set back!

Nothing wrong with walking a couple of miles a day.

I suspect you're going to be messed up from the surgery. Aren't they going to put the expander in your back for awhile? Probably walking will be about all you're up for.

    Rose,
He decided against putting the tissue expander in my back first. He researched it and found that there were many complications.
Thats fine, but now he has me worried about the fact that I might not have enough skin in my back for the surgery.
Yeah, I will walk as soon as I can-I have walked for years-all through my surgeries, chemo and rads. I just hope my plantar faciitis doesn't get worse, but I am wearing shoes around the house like a good little girl.

Well the back expander was going to be weird, it's probably just as well.

Unlike our other body problems these foot things seem to respond to doing the right things, you'll just have to keep your shoes on.

    Laura,

Darned if I can remember! He doens't have the particulars of his study worked out--it'll probably be research at the cellular level. His supervising prof actually has a study with real people (!!) started on something with MDS Harris labs. Maybe that's something with a substance in corn.

(I should pay more attention!! FAmily gatherings can be stressful!!)

Yes, cholesterol is a huge problem ( did you intend the pun because for many it's related to weight, for some (like my DH) it's being related, and to others it's both!)--you know the commercial.

Your salad and wine are on the cholesterol/fat lowering menu. I'm not sure how BIG the glass of wine needs to be to help our hearts though!!

I'm trying to figure out what an "arts and crafts movement exhibit" is...
