When is it ok to stop chemo....if ever?

Hello everyone, My mom has extensive metastasis to the bones and liver and she is not on her 6th weekly taxol/herceptin treatment. The doc will do a scan soon, so we don't know how well it's working yet. The thing is: my mom says she wants a chemo break after her 10th treatment. She is tired.

I am worried...I don't know if stopping chemo is a good idea.

How do you decide when to stop chemo?

Hi ManySunshine. You should post this question in one of the Stage IV forums so that those with experience can chime in and offer their opinions. They've been through it all and back and can offer insight.

Hi Canadagirl, thanks for pointing that out. I initially posted in the Stage 4 forum but the moderators moved my message to here...not sure why, but I think it is because I'm a caregiver and not a breast cancer patient. She will always be on treatment, the only way they would stop is if there were no more options. Its up to her and the DR.
