    Hi, I'm new here too.  Just diagnosed with IDC with lymphovascular invasion identified - grade III.  So far the pathology report shows ER- and PR- -- no results yet on the HER2, and I'm getting nervous.  How long do those results usually take?  I may be a new member here and am reading up.  My first BS appointment is on Friday.  I have two scheduled so I can make some decisions.  This is so stressful and surreal.

    Lauren15, let me welcome you to the club no one wants to join. Having said that I have found more information here than anywhere else and I am a Masters prepared nurse and used to doing research. What is more important is the love, compassion, empathy, and warm welcome from everyone. Please use these forums just because!. When I had my biopsy they didn't get enough tissue for the HER/2 so I didn't know until I had my surgery. Biopsy 11/20 surgery 12/6 and then had to wait until 12/11 for complete path report to confirm that I was triple negative. My markers are way up there, Ki67 is 96, all my grades are 3 and so on. That means that I have a very aggressive type of cancer that has cancer cells replicating at a rapid rate. My good news is that for some reason (a God thing) I found my tumor by myself quite by accident. It is small 1.1 cm, I have clean margins and my nodes 0/3 were clean. The other positive is that aggressive cancer responds well to chemo.

    Other health issues have me concerned, I have never really taken care of myself, obesity all my life (had gastric bypass 2006, now 185 lbs) poorly controlled diabetes, fatty cirrhotic (sp) liver, smoker and so on. Not sure how my body which is not very healthy now is going to react to the chemo.

    What I know for sure is that I am going to perservere and get through this, the alternative to do nothing is not an option. I am eating better, getting some exercise and trying to quit smoking. I read that nicotine can interfere with the efficiency of chemo so the smoking really has to go.

    At times I feel calm and peaceful as if I have accepted this path, then I feel really pissed off, why me? I cry, I laugh, I lay on the floor kicking and screaming (not really to old to get on the floor, couldn't get back up) and all of this in about 15 minutes. Based on what everyone tells me and life's experiences this is normal. My feelings are real to me and I will deal with it my way.

    Please lurk and post and say whatever you have to. This is much better than journaling as sometimes people answer.
