Sheila...my husband suffered from panick attacks for years....it was horrible....he would find himself on the street not knowing where he was or what he was doing. He is very stubborn about meds but we finally talked him into seeing his GP who immediately put him on two differents meds at the same time. It took about six years before he was slowly taken off them and he is fine now. It was so bad once, we thought he was having a heart attack and called an ambulance immediately. He had a battery of tests and the outcome was that he was experiencing panick attacks. Hope you get help for this soon❤❤❤

Hi Sheila, what a beautiful picture.

I used to suffer from panic attacks for so long. For about 14 yrs. I was not able to fly, not because I was afraid of crashing, but because when the door closed, I felt as if I could not breathe! I don't have to tell you what my symptoms were, because you know them too well.  This may sound strange, but after I got off all my meds such as antidepressants or benzos I actually started to improve.  Now about 3 yrs. later I am much better. I am not saying that it has not happened again but somehow I am able to handle it better.

There were times when if I could not remember the name of someone, I would litterally feel like something in my head was going to explode. My heart would race so fast, dizziness, shortness of breath, it was just awful. Now if it happens, I can usually talk myself out of it.

I have always been the type to have health anxiety, to always be afraid to go and see a doctor because I knew I would get bad news.  My anxiety level was always in overdrive and I lived everyday worrying that something bad was going to happen.  Well it did.... MY FIRST MAMMO and what did it show... BREAST CANCER!!!!

Instead of freaking out I realized how blessed I was,  it could have been worse I said to myself, over and over.

I had a bottle of ativans ready, just in case... but I took only a few for my MRI, other than that nothing.

I don't know why you suffer from anxiety or panic attacks, or why  I am  even writing all this, I guess I just wanted you to know that I understand exactly how you feel...because I have been there....!

Where in Westchester do you live?  I actually got married in Scarsdale.

    Mena

Hi Mena...Thanks so much for sharing your experience.......

Mine comes for no reason.....I also have chronic Depression ,,,so coming off the AD is not even a possibility......I take the lowest possible dosage possible.....Sometimes I can go weeks without having an episode....this time was really scary.....

No issues for closed places...I don't have any phobias about things......I'm terrified of flying I always did.....but flied to Hawaii 3 times...because my DD moved there 4 years ago and got married in July...

Today was a very normal day......

I see you live in Bayside.....My ex's sister and Aunt live there too.......

I'm from New Rochelle....so close to you.....

    Well nice talking to you...

    Hugs♥

You gals are sooo sweet!  It's like we all spread our wings and sheila is underneath them all, and we can protect her!  Most of us know all too well what it is like trying to "get out" of a panic attack.  It's like our brain is frozen in fear!

Mine came on when our girls were little... mostly at night, when I had time to just relax... I was so afraid of going to bed, because I just KNEW one would come!  It's like I could bring them on, just by thinking about them.   But I would make myself get up, turn on the TV, and go take a cold-tablet or something, just to get my mind off of it... and it helped!

They gradually went away.... and then my Husband got them!!!   So I would try and talk him out of it.... Man, it's like being "possessed!"  If it helps talking to us about them, we're always here!  Just try and get your brain to "change the subject."

And glad to "see you" Mena!  It just kind of helps to talk things over, and finding out we're not alone....  I used to feel like I was going NUTS!!!

Have fun Tigger!  Sounds like a good time to me!

I have 2 GS in that age group. I can't even let myself think about it. Unimaginable horror for the parents.

Having so many friends who are now citizens but were recent immigrants or refugees when I first met them, I never thought I would hear the word "deport" with shared joy!

Has anyone had to go through airport security with TE's? Just curious if I should expect to set off the alarms and get strip searched:(

Tigger, I hate to sound stupid, but I can't figure out what TE's are!  My Husband has a pacemaker, and he DOES go through that full body scan, but just not that wand, that they use... So if you have concerns, ask one of the tech's there.... See if THEY know what TE's are, Ha!

Don't we like to get strip-searched anymore? Wink  Guess it depends on how old we were, WHERE we were, and by whom?

    Okay, just kidding....

Ask Kantalope!  She must be gone somewhere, or still asleep, or waiting for us to say something about her!  Did you know she wears a size 12 1/2 shoe?  And she's only 4'11".    We could carry her in our cat-carrier, but her feet would hang out!

I am not sure, but it's possible with the magnetic disc could set something off.

Chevy, TE's are Tissue Expanders used for reconstruction. I don't think I will even attempt to ask them, just take my chances and run through hoping for no beeps.  I agree with the Where and by whom but don't think I want to go there with the TSA's either. :)

Guess it will depend on how they have the sensitivity turned up on the detector on that day.  I will let you all know when I get back.

iatigger - I have flown numerous times with both TEs and implants and I haven't had any problems.  I have gone through metal detectors and full-body scanners.  You shouldn't have any issues.  Hopefully, you were given the medical device card when the expanders were placed.  It's good to carry that just in case.  If you weren't given the card you might call your plastic surgeon's office or the medical records department at the hospital to get a copy of the stickers faxed or mailed to you.  My TE card was lost, but I was able to contact the hospital and after faxing a records release form I recieved a copy of the surgical report that had the ID stickers attached.  It took about 10 minutes.

    Have a lovely trip!

Thanks Tina I hope I have the same experience. I do have my medical device card ready to flash if it comes to that.

No doubt Tina. Now just hoping we get to leave tomorrow. Blizzardpocolypse is upon us today.  Aleady 8+ inches and the wind is supposed to gust in the 50mphs this afternoon. Hoping we don't lose power.

Stay tucked in and warm. Storm Drako! Is a big bully. We only got about 5 inches here by the lake, but my family got 18 inches in Madison. The wind is bad. Much love to all.

LOL Scottie that is too funny... I guess we won't be having any wine with our turkey and I'll try to keep it to a minimum since I'm on a diet anyway.  But I will say this month of Dec. I haven't lost one pound.  My weight dr isn't going to be too happy with me when I go in on the 28th.  Oh well I guess it's my penny.  Back to the grindstone in Jan.
