Journey, Yes a quite of us have the swelling just behind the arm pit where the cami doesn't address this area.
I do use camis under my tees when I go to work and then the fleexes tee to sleep in and sometimes in the day at home. That discontinued Fleexes I talked about, you just wear as is.I cut a slit in the breast lining and inserted my foamies to fill in my implants a bit. It eliminates so much more clothing and is freeing. I have looked for something similar but can't find.
I was looking at Spanx for men they have a tee that doesn't look to bad. Spendy though.
Thanks MODS for putting in a good word for us.

RE: DRS for LECarol posted this earlier on this thread and it is so important:
"To your question, there is no formal LE specialty in medicine. Two doctors I am aware of specialize in lymphology, as they call it: Dr. Joseph Feldman in Chicago and Dr. Kathleen Francis in NYC. Also, Dr. Nancy Hutchison in Minneapolis is a doctor of physical medicine who sees a lot of LE patients in her practice; she is also a certified LE therapist. There may be other MDs specializing in LE that I am not aware of, but as you noticed in our threads, MDs' and surgeons' knowledge of LE is generally limited. We consider it a victory if they know enough about LE to realize when it's important to send a patient to a certified LE therapist for a formal evaluation. Most CLTs are also PTs or OTs, so they have good training in the body's mechanics, although the quality of their LE training is not assured.
Here's where to look for information on finding a qualified LE therapist: www.stepup-speakout.org/Findin...
On the stepup-speakout site, you'll also find wonderful resources you can read, download and print to show your own MD/surgeons, about what we need our healthcare providers to know about LE. This information was written by a doctor who has LE, so she's speaking their language."
I would like to add anotherr DR that has come to my attention for anyonhe who is near Western MA. He is a BS named DR STEVEN SCHONHLOZ. Google him with Noble Hospital. BEWARE: Binney posted "with Dr. Steven Schonholz. He's the Medical Director for Impedimed, which has been involved in some shady advertising practices that are NOT helpful to people with lymphedema."I called my local Cancer House of Hope on another issue yesterday and I spoke to the DIR there about LE. She was stunned by the risks and some of the info I gave her . She promised to call this DR in after the New Year to speak about it. My MO had also told me of him so this is the 2nd time he has come up in relation to LE. I have not seen him personally, so the usual disclaimer about doing your own research.

Bummer, Bummer, - "I can't wear that style cami because the edge is right where my swelling is from top of shoulder" - Journey, You are absolutely right.. I wore the tank last night and a semi-compression tee over it but when I went to put on my sleeve for work this morning, I noticed the upper arm and shoulder is more swollen than it was yesterday... The torso, breast, ribs seemed down this morning but that upper arm .. oh man!
Another lesson learned.
-
Bummer! We need something with sleeves! Is anyone listening!
-
Purple, I'm going to go bump another thread for you called "Impedimed/Deceptive Marketing" because we've had our issues with Dr. Steven Schonholz. He's the Medical Director for Impedimed, which has been involved in some shady advertising practices that are NOT helpful to people with lymphedema. His actual knowledge of LE practice seems to be limited, and his association with a company that's using deceptive marketing is definitely something to consider. If he comes to speak, it will likely be to promote Impedimed, and that company appears to have no qualms about overstating their own importance to the diagnosis of LE.
Just a heads up. We lymphers can never really let our guard down.
Be well!
Binney -
WOW!
Thank you soooooo much, Binney!
That sure is scary. I might have gone to that man. My MO suggested it and the DIR of the Cancer House of Hope said he was ' the best ". He has been appointed as the DIR of a comprehensive breast program at Noble Hospital. This is incredibly upsetting!
I am also going to add an edit to my own post.Thank you again!

Here it is again...more affordable.

Happy Shopping! -
Saw the UA promo earlier this month on this site and was hoping to find something new/suitable for truncal problems. I did purchase several of the men's short sleeve version to wear under jackets last summer for work when the Bali torset was just too hot. Hoping they will monitor this thread and hear our concerns!
Has anyone invested in the "tactical" line they sell to police & military? Limited colors but the v-neck style might feel good in warm weather...
-
I ordered the Memoi short sleeve cami (which is really a shirt not a cami). Not sure about sizing I ordered in Med and Large. Could not get the med on but the large fit. (reference I am 145lbs at 5'7" - small C and typically wear med in tops). I will not be able to keep the large because the arms are too tight - and not in a good way. However I have to say that this is the best design I have seen yet. Love the lower neckline, no logos, and overall compression. It is too long on me but I always have the problem. In the large I could easily fold about 4 inches back up from the bottom to get it the shorter length I prefer.
Just for haha's I've ordered the Tommie Copper shirt. I'm not expecting much but since I do have arthritis in one shoulder I figured what the heck - I'll try it and probably use to sleep in.
Someone asked about the UnderArmour tactical shirts - I have one from about 4 years ago but it has zero compression. Nice to workout in but that's it. I just checked the web site and there is a v neck Compression Tactical shirt for men only. I may order it after Christmas to try.
-
Journey. Thanks for the update. Looks like the MEMOI won't fit me as my large conical arms would not work if you said it was tight.
Yah I was wondering about the vneck compression tactical for men. I wonder if it has more compression than the heatgear compression ones we wear?
-
I had forgotten that I bought a Ahh Seamless T-shirt by Rhonda Shear (HSN.com) this summer. It's stuck in my closet someplace and I need to dig it back out. The design is kind of what many of us are looking for. I think the compression was decent but gentle and the sleeves are a good longer short sleeve style. But I had issues with it being too thick material (HOT) and the seamwork at the shoulders was not done well as it puckers. As I was driving into work it hit me that she might be a good one to reach out too. I jumped on the HSN website today during lunch and sure enough she has a blog there and looks like she actually reads posts and replys from time to time. Soooo I posted a little thing about BC and lymphedema and our needs for a good tshirt design. I'll keep you posted and let you know how you can help.
-
Journey, can you post the website? Maybe if several of us chimed in it would help convince her of our need.
Thanks for doing that, BTW!

I actually saw Dr Nancy Hutchison 1 month after my BLM. I went there because I had a ton of pain & Swelling on my Side. She told me it was temporary LE & would last 6-9 months
I wish I had known better then...As I still have the same swelling & Pain...4+ years later : (

Dejaboo, that's so disheartening. Dr. Hutchison heads NLN's medical advisory committee. At one month post-op, we can definitely have post-surgical swelling, but I never heard of anyone labeling swelling 'LE' and stating that it's temporary. This is one of the very few doctors who are supposed to know a lot about LE. Sigh...

Please see a new Topic - Shirt designs for Lymphedema.
Thank you!

Hi All,
Our team is discussing your suggestions with Under Armour this Friday!
We'll keep you posted!!
Thanks for all your creative suggestions!!

I have mild truncal lymphedema, as well as costochondritis in my lower ribs. I have an underarmor "compression" long sleeve shirt that I wear and find very comfortable, but it's not medical-grade compression. My insurance covered a $297 Bellisse bra, but because of the costochondritis I can't wear ANYTHING that has elastic, even if it's lower down on the ribs. My favorite garment now is the WearEase camisole, but even that has a seam below the breasts that can be bothersome. And at $79 each, I can't afford another.
I tried a Spank tank top, but all the compression is in the belly, not the boobs. Also, it rides up like you wouldn't believe!
I would love it if UA came out with an LE line...tanks and sleeves both. With thick enough fabric that you can wear a thin shirt over it and not look like you have your "headlights on". That would be a much better way of showing support for BC patients than anything in pink.
-
Mods, Thank you sincerely for being our voice with the UA folks. And please thank them, too, for considering our needs.
-
My PT told me I would have to wear the sleeve and glove for 3 months./ Yeah, right. I guess something magical happens after that !
MODS
Many many thanks !!!!!!! -
It is disheartening Carol. I havent heard others use the word temporary LE here...But thats what she told me it was.
I do think she is good at what she does still. Just missed it with me...as I feel it was LE way back then- My Pain was severe & so was the swelling. And its all still there...Though less now that I wear compression.
I was told by the LE Therapist I saw this summer that Dr H didnt do/See LE patients anymore for Therapy...now that she heads the committee...But I actually think my therapist was not correct on that.
She is alot farther from me- Or I might try to see her...I still might if things get worse for me...Since the one I saw this summer didnt know anything really.

I met Dr. Hutchison in September, at the NLN conference. I do have the impression that she certainly is still seeing patients. Deja, I hope you are able to improve your LE, be it with Dr. H or through other resources.
-
MODS. Oh it is really true.....Dreams do come true. Even if we get turned down I am ever so grateful for you trying to help us live that dream or truncal garments.
Please let them know that they can change our lives from being miserably uncomfortable to happy and that we will be their forever customers because we all know LE is not disappearing of the scene for a very long time!
I have two men's tees because the girls cap sleeve creeps up and bind under my arm. I would buy several more. They are great for sleeping in and keep my swell spot garment from drifting around. I wear them inside out cause the seams irritate. No under the bust seams or thin under the breast bands, they bind unless you are super skinny.
Yes a LE line would be great! -
Mods. Were you able to get any success with the UNDERARMOUR people? We are still dreaming for the perfect compression tee. I have one on right now but it's not so perfect
Thank you for your time and energy. -
We'll check on the feedback from the meeting with BCO and Under Armour, and let you know if there's any news for you.

Btw, ladies, I saw some nice looking compression tops at KMart Sunday.
Reminded me of this thread . They had scoop necks and somewhere on the sign it said " meant to be seen ". They looked like a nice black T. I was with my lil grand daughter and had no time to browse...no more details ., but may be worth checking on.
