Question: Do any of you take estrogen (inserting Estrace, etc.) and you are also estrogen positive?  I'm trying to gather info about this catch 22 position. Doctor is suggesting I am on it for 7 months for a possible surgery which is unrelated to BC.  I haven't filled the prescription yet...don't know if I can!

Thanx!

I woudn't do it. My cancer feeds on estrogen, no way I'm going to make it dinner. I'll stick with the plan of starving it to death.

use the search function on the upper left of the screen and search for estrace - you will find several posts on other discussion boards about it and will get an idea of when/if it is being used. Also, you could check with your medical oncologist about using it for a short period of time.

    good luck

dmorgan2 - I am 100% ER+, and my MO has approved the use of Premarin cream, sparingly, a few times a month.

She says because it remains fairly topical once applied to outer tissues, and does not become absorbed into the bloodstream, it is safe to use.

(I have been on Anastrozole since September.)

My primary care Dr. prescribed Estrace cream for me - I literally use a dab on my fingertip once or twice a week. I am not using the applicator that measures out 1 gram, 2 grams, etc. She did not give me any refills on my prescription because the way I'm using it a tube should last a year. My MO says using it this way should be okay as there will be very little systemic absorption.

Thanks, everyone! So hard to know what to do in this situation.

Does anyone know if there's a more natural "compounded"-like estrogen? Estrace is synthetic it says on the box.

Premarin cream is still controversial due to the way the mares are treated & the way their urine is collected. I personally would never use it.
