Where did the pinned threads go?

Mominne -- which threads are you looking for?
-
We had one on exercise and one on survival that were pinned to the top of the forum.
-
The Stage 3 Five Years+ Out-Check In ! post was one of the pinned posts now missing. I got this link from my list of recent posts but now the link just goes to the All Topics page.
-
Hi folks,
Unfortunately, the threads you're looking for are now no longer available. The Opening Poster has asked for her account to be removed, and with it all of her posts and all threads she'd started. We understand any frustration with this, but we must honor her wishes.
On the flip side, you may feel free to start your own thread (of the same name if you wish!) and we will be happy to pin the new threads to this forum. Please just send us a PM letting us know when it's been created.
Thanks for your understanding, and sorry for any confusion.

Mods, how is that fair to all the people besides the OP who took the time to contribute to those threads? And all of the rest of us who benefited from the advice and support in those threads? I remember reading those threads when I was first diagnosed stage 3 and they gave me hope and support...there must be some way to restore the posts written by those other than the OP. I have no idea what precipitated her request, but just because she started the thread doesn't mean she owns everyone else's posts within it.
-
Mods, thanks for the explanation, but it seems a bit ridiculous not to be able to save the threads, even if the opening post has to be deleted. These were threads that had been going for a long time and contained important info for a lot of people.
-
Mamabee,
We apologize and certainly agree with your frustration. Unfortunately, this is the only option. As we stated, you can feel free to start a new thread that will help other future members.
Thank you for understanding.

This is really sad. I find it hard to believe there isn't another way of handling this situation. As Stage III women, we are acutely aware of the numbers regarding our prognosis and find much hope and comfort in the threads such as the Stage 5 years Our check in Thread. By going through the posts, I'm sure all of us were able to find a women with a similar dx that we were able to find inspiration from. It will take a long time to recreate the information found in such a thread.
-
It is such a shame that so many years of posts full of helpful information, support and encouragement have been lost. I think a new thread should take its place because the purpose and intent for that thread is still greatly needed.
New entries and stories should be added to that thread to start rebuilding what was lost, but in addition it IS POSSIBLE to recover your own original posts from the lost thread.
Each person who has ever written a post in the now deleted Stage 3 Five+ Years Out-Check In ! thread is able to find their own posts and copy/paste them into the new thread. Granted, the original flow and sequence of responses to each other's posts cannot be replicated, but at least we can restore a portion of the informational and encouraging content that was contained in so many posts in that thread.
If this seems a worthwhile option, and several original posters to the lost thread are willing to re-create their entries, I would be happy to post step by step directions on how to do so.
-
Please do so, Linda ! I think just because the OP account was removed should not mean all those wonderful posts leave. That 5+ year out thread is crucial!
BCO there is another way this could have been handled, I'm sure. I am not one to complain...but you know what? I'm not happy with BCO righit now. We will never get back all those posts that gave so much hope to people. Especially newbies who come on here thinking they were given a death sentence.
-
I agree Bugs! Maybe the Mods should give serious thought to changing their process especially as it relates to a PINNED THREAD. I shudder to think of the many pinned threads existing now within the forums that would be absolutely devastating to lose! Some of these pinned threads have existed for many years, containing thousands of posts and have become a signifcant source of information and support for so many members here. The fact that they could be wiped out in a single moment is a serious flaw that should be addressed by BCO.
I truly hope the BCO can come up with a fix for this issue. Surely, the OP's post contents can be removed without wiping out the entire thread? Even if the original post has to be replaced with an informational note from the Mods that while the OP is no longer an active member, the subsequent posts of others remain viewable for the benefit of all??
-
Why can't the mods put the post back up and just delete the OP's posts? The stage III forum and that thread gives hope to those coming here. It's not fair that this whole entire thread was removed. The original poster has posted here for years and has been an encouragement to many women here. this thread should have remained up and just the OP's comments and avatar could have been removed. It's like everyone was deleted here.

This devastates me on two fronts: First that one of the original founding members of this stage 3 forum has left abruptly and I have no idea why. She was a force for getting the pins in the first place and was always a voice of reason when squabbles cropped up. What the hell happened? If anybody knows, please pm me. This is one I really need closure on.
Secondly I spent a long time writing my contribution to the "5 years and out" pinned thread.(I had had 17 surgeries post diagnosis and every se known to man--or woman.) When I get a pm from a newly diagnosed woman I often would refer her to this thread. Invariably she would find her answer from all of us.
It is important that we recreate that thread. I wonder if the vanishing member really considered all the pinned threads at the beginning of the stage 3 forum would vanish forever. It doesn't sound like her. Too too bad.
-
Weesa, I completely agree that the OP would not want this thread gone. She was a driving force for the creating of the stage 3 board. I'm also very concerned about her. I used to have her email address, but I'm not sure if I still have it. We usually communicated via PM in bco.
On the semi-positive front, I have PM'd the mods about this thread and the response was that they are asking IT to look into this. I sure hope they are able to restore this thread.
-
I feel upset about this. Did something happen?
-
Thank you Bugs!
And I never communicated with the OP but I've learned so much from this board and her posts. I hope she is doing well.
-
Hi,
Was this the thread from SherryG? I was having PM's from her, but all being lost to sight!

Wow, this really sucks big pickles!!!! But...we can begin again. Life is all about new beginnings. I would be happy to restart the thread if the moderators would pin it. And I promise I won't have it removed...EVER.
-
Or.....if I'm not a 'popular' option then someone else please restart. I will make a new thread and anyone is welcome to participate ...or not.
-
Thanks AlwaysHope! It's been pinned!
-
Major AWESOMENESS moderators!
-
Thank you ladies for fighting for the HOPE so many need from the Five Year Check In thread that is now gone! WOW...so many gave of themselves to create that thread and than one person selfishly removes it is very hurtful and disheartening. Thank you for the willingness to recreate it for our BC sisters and ourselves! I still would like the OP posts to be deleted, but Please Mods replace everyone else's posts that was part of the Five Year Check In thread as it is THEIR sharing of their heart, story and time and no one else should have control over that simply because they want it deleted!
-
Unfortunately, I don't see that happening. But if they can put it back then I would happily see the new thread removed and the original thread put back in its rightful place. In the meantime there is a new thread and maybe they can be merged if a solution is found.
