Dakota - sending hugs, it's OK to be emotional, you are going through a lot. Glad that you have us to share how you are feeling with.

Bevlee - it must feel good to have made your decision, and not too much time to over think between now and start of chemo. What are the chemo agents you will be receiving? Sounds like maybe Taxotere or taxol is one? re: hearing - I've had some problems with tinnitus while being on Taxotere.

Traii - yay! Last Taxotere next week. Hope the icing of feet helps with the pain you've been getting

Driving my son to school this a.m., he has a spare first thing so we're running a quick errand for him first, then visiting Mom, picking up my husband and heading for chemo. Benny - maybe we will see each other there but don't push yourself OK?

    The latest:

Saw the oncologist this morning. I was so weak when I got there I had to lie down. They were going to hook me up to IV fluids (please, no!!!) but gave me apple juice instead and after a half hour I felt better. The onc said 20% of chemo patients have a very diffiult time (he's put me in that category), and 10% end up in ICU. I asked him if I was going to end up in ICU and he said he was going to try everything to prevent that. Chemo is delayed at least a week, possibly two. He also suspects I have C. difficile from all the antibiotics I've been on. Last but not least, I will have the Neulasta shot next chemo.

    I miss my horse Cry

    Hi Benny

I'm sorry to hear about this but if it's any help, Neupogen (daily shots for five days after chemo rather than the single shot Neulasta) got my neutrophils back up.

With each cycle, the neutrophils went down (to be expected) and then they went back up again. This should be the same for you.

    http://www.macmillan.org.uk/Cancerinformation/Cancertreatment/Treatmenttypes/Chemotherapy/Sideeffects/Possibleside-effects.aspx

Don't worry too much about getting blood clots - it may never happen to you - but in case you feel breathless or have a hot spot on your leg or other places, consider calling a doc:

    http://www.bbc.co.uk/health/physical_health/conditions/bloodclots1.shtml

I got very breathless half-way through the chemo and called a doctor out, who diagnosed small pulmonary emboli, took blood to do a D-Diemer test to be sure, and put me on warfarin, an anti-coagulant. Problem solved.

This must all seem very scary at the moment but it sounds as if you are in good hands with your oncologist.

I had disturbing side-effects like you but didn't end up in ICU so neither might you!

    Best wishes

    Alice

Benny - I love the wig too.  Looks very natural.  If you are like me, it won't feel the least bit natural, you will think everyone is looking at it, but believe me, they really aren't.  LOL.  I get the Neulasta shot the day after chemo every time and it really works, my blood counts have been very good each time, and no side effects from it that I can tell (I take the Claritin, which probably helps).

Carla - will be praying for your surgery.

Bevlee - we have all been right there where you are, it is soooo tough but we will get through it and kick cancer's butt!!!!

One week post chemo #3 and my hands are very sore again already.  I guess the ice didn't help.  :-(   Considerably more nausea this time around too, but the compazine seems to make it subside.  No actual vomiting, or diarrhea, so I'm still on my feet and making it through each day.  Halfway done, woo hoo!

Hi Warrior Sisters, Just had catch up of your posts and do you know something ? You are all AMAZING ! No matter what gets thrown at you, up you get and soldier on with humour and great advice. I think if I hadn't found dear Benny's original post I for one would be in a much darker place right now.

Websister, hope no 6 went well and you get minimal SE's.

Spent my extra money in the pound shop on silly things for me and GD's got a crazy hat to wear with fringe when it is cold. Temperature here falling fast. Brrr

    Hope your Mum still improving.

Wig hanging on hook quite happy in house without it. One GD said I look like an egg with eyes, nose and mouth lol. X

Carla, thoughts out to you hope you mend very quickly X

Traii, Pots and pans defo better than Dunny lol. My lovely bosses broke my heart last night they are moving to another pub 40 miles away in Wales :-( We will all miss them soo much but it is better for them in every way and we can all visit for day's out.

How is toilet training going with your DS ? I remember it like it was yesterday ( not funny )

When your next chemo ? X

Benny, Glad you got to see your Onco, sure he will sort you out for next time. He sounds as if he does care about you.

Diamond will be so thrilled to see you and sure it won't be long before you are back together again. X

Dakota, I too have had couple of real good crying fits this week, think the floodgates need to open now and again. As for not so DH just remember Karma, what goes around, comes around. You will survive everything even him. How chemo go x

Hey Traii, you finish Taxotere as I start!! Frown EEEK!  Still enjoying my 'normal' right now..  for 7 more days!  Then it's my Aussie Chemo Summer!  Happy for you that you are nearly half way through.. and may it be smoooth sailing from now on xx

Thinkin of you Carla... hope you are hearing good news and are not too uncomfortable..

Dakota.. I'm just getting used to all these abbreviations, but I reckon I know what your DH stands for!!!  I'm thinkin he falls a bit short of the bare minimum...    Hope you are feeling OK  XXX

Jennie...  Cheers!  You ladies have really helped prepare me for this - seems easier to go through it together xxx

Benny.. How far away is your horse?  Hope you can go see him soon - he would love that as much as you xxx

Edi.. I just realised that you are cyber mummy  LOL..  and I have 4 chemos, not 6 ... lucky(ish) me  XXX

Websister... yeh, my poison will be, Taxotere with a dash of cycolthosthamide (?)  I already have tinnitus at 65 decibals so hoping it doesn't make it louder... EEEK!  Hope you are feeling OK after your treatment today  xxx

So, yeh, bald by Christmas.. I think I'm OK with that.. though not sure til it happens.  My brother is lending me his red barron leather flying helmet with goggles to wear.. hehehe!  also bought a promotional wig on eBay from that Scottish childrens movie 'BRAVE' ... long, bright orange and curly - just like mine.. Hi to all

Thanks to everyone on the congratulations for my last Taxotere. They have a big bell at the nurses station and I got to ring it as many times as I wanted to signal the end of that part of chemo. I thought six times was appropriate - one for each treatment. The nurses all clapped, cheered and congratulated me and so did several patients. Nice moment :)

Mom is doing quite well postop, they are going to try to get her up to walk today, I'm not sure how that will go as she isn't able to support much weight on the left hip following fracturing it. It will show thought whether she needs to be placed in a rehab center for a while and possible need for reassessment re: where she was placed for care facility.

So far, not too bad for side effects - Traii - started getting the sore feet yesterday, feels like a burn

Benny - c. diff usually presents as severe diarrhea, often with blood in it. Hope that you show clear for it. Keep up those fluids and foods to keep your blood sugar up. Did you ask about the Claritin pre: Neulasta? I think it really helped me - take day of shot, at least one hour before and for seven days after.

Edi - sounds like your pound shop is like our dollar store. Fun time with the granddaughters :)

Bevlee - sounds like you are having fun with the headwear, great attitude, you will have to post pictures. Enjoy your seven days pre chemo, glad it is next week and you should be feeling pretty good for Christmas

Dakota - hope you are able to spoil yourself a little to make up for DH's shortfalls.

Everyone else, hope you are doing well

    Take care

    Hi Sisters,

Websister, that bell sounds like a lovely idea :-) Hope Mum ! can support her weight and that your feet improve.

Poundshop is like your Dollar shop, my cousin lives in Dubai and they have a Dinar shop there, we love bargains wherever we live lol.

Bevlee, Yes I am cyber mummy lol.

. You just have to go with the hair thing and as you are doing make it fun. I have a different look every day with various wigs and hats getting another mad wig next week. When it starts to go some of us found getting it buzzed off made it easier to cope with clearing up hair from everywhere. I am bald as a coot and feel liberated. It will be back next year and that is all that matters. Hope mine grows back like yours.

Enjoy seven days, and hope you have few SE's after no. 1. Get on here if any at all and someone will have a remedy I am sure.

Dakota, hope chemo goes as well as possible tomorrow, will be thinking of you.

    Carla, Thoughts with you too.

Jennie, hope SE's not too bad.

Traii cyber baby girl, I found my boy much harder to train at night, poor love wet the bed every night for 26 yrs !! We tried everything including Hospitalisation. Luckily my friend got me a hospital type matress cover and he had lots of bedding. Sure you will not have to go through any of that.

Have you chemo this week ?

    Benny, please post x

Hope all of you improving every day.

    Namaste, Edi X

Hey cyber mummy, 26years......hmmm is that a typo or are you making me worry....lol......

Chemo next Wednesday 12th Dec....I'm a week before you now . Have you lost ALL your hair or you still have some here and there ??

Another new wig, so how many does that make it now ? I'm thinking of getting a new wig to wear around the place but I'm liking these bandana thingys I'm wearing around the house...as soon as I get home my wig comes off...and I call it a day and place her on her stand....!!

So Bevlee starts chemo next Wednesday too......enjoy your 7days before chemo, embrace your gorgeous hair, pull at it, stroke it, wash it , blow dry , straighten ...oh things I miss......lol I'm still doing it with my wig just not as often and my water bill came today and it was cheaper...lol guess my showers are cut to a minimal now.....!!

You'll be fine for Christmas day and new years......we'll be post 13 days for Christmas day and are you due like me for chemo on the 2nd Jan ?? Thats when I start my new chemo treatment.

Good luck for today Dakota, minimal side effects ok....or NONE!

Websister, I thought i heard bells ringing really loudly...they must of made their echoing way down to Melbourne, AUST...and so they should, you deserve every damn bell that you rang sister !!

Jennie, hope your hands aren't too sore today....It took Round 2 day 13 for my feet to get better and I can run...lol but I still have numbness at times, but I'd take the numbness over the aches in my feet anytime!

    Benny, are you ok ?

    Carla, ??

Everyone else, hope you are all well and doing ok...

Traii, No typo honest !! Didn't put that to frighten you just to let you see that if he is a bit long to train at night he can't possibly be as bad as my darling boy lol.

Had head shaved two weeks ago when it went clumpy.Feels great. When weather not too cold bare head around the house. If chilly ( like today brrrr ) DH got me three turban style pull on hats from e.bay. With my fringe on a band underneath comfy ,warm and been told I look like a forties film star ha ha.

Wigs are great when out and about next one will make three but think that will be enough. You are on CMF next as well aren't you ? I have been told hair will start coming back then as it doesn't cause hair loss. Hope they are right :-).

The hair loss pretty total too. Lost them from" down under "in the vegetable aisle of supermarket, walking along then oops good job I was wearing sensible drawers lol.x

Oh Edi you are a hoot.....I am laughing and trying not to wake DS or DH up from their sleep.......lol...too bloody funny, just as well you were wearing 'undies' at all.....lol..glad mine all gone too, don't know which isle I lost mine in....lol

I've not had to shave my legs for a while got tiny stubble in places I can feel but I'll be able to wear skirts with no need to shave this year...just have to get rid of my 'albino' looking legs and get my tan on .....haha ... hair under my arms, well I haven't had any since i was 18 and that would have only been for a couple of years....with the previous radiation I had my hair NEVER grew back under my arms  (so that was a good thing that came out of radiation) !!

Have you still got your eyebrows/lashes?? Mine still there, just dont want to jinx them...hair on my head one thing gone, accepted it and moved on ... but I don't want to go down the path again of drawing on eyebrows...getting them right was a pain in the butt for me....lol

I've still got hair, length is slowly going but the top is sorta all over the place, i love when I have knots and i go to comb them out gently then boom.....gone the whole knot and all....may as well have gotten the scissors...but I have days no shedding at all or very minimal.....

Are you going to be on CMF too after this lot ?? I've heard hair can grow back too but have just said to myself, well the hair will come back when it comes back....be after March when I finish chemo or during treatment will be an added bonus for winter here...lol 'tis what it is' I guess.....

You dh is definetly a darling....... sounds sexy with the 40s look happening.....:) I'm so proud of you having fun with your wigs.....I wish I was closer so we could 'fun this whole thing out together' lol.

My cousin is doing the make up for Britains next top model.... I need to go and visit her when all this is done and I'm back on track....... I hear London is beautiful

As for toilet training, hmmm my DS is ready for night time but because its hot he wants to drink lots at night after running around so much that I don't want to train while he'll be waking up every 5 mins for the loo.....lol...mummy needs her beauty sleep more than before and its bad enough I'm an insomniac now I think........ (self diagnosed) lol xx

Cyber baby girl, so glad I could make you laugh ! Thank goodness to old to wear a thong or shoes could have been full of pubes :-(

I still have eyebrows and eyelashes :) Like you can hack the head bit ,but eyebrows noooo.Friend had the henna 3D tat's done and believe it looks amazing. just like real eyebrows and no drawing them in every day.

Only ever had about 2 hairs on each leg, now none ! underarm hair gone YAY usually sever an artery when removing that. lol.

If you do get to London I will jump train and when can get absolutely pxxxxd and compare battle scars. It is one beautiful city.

DH is an angel most of the time but if I go out he frets that I will collapse somewhere ! not likely thank goodness. I am having first scotch diet coke for months and feeling really squify lol.

Like you say if hair starts back with CMF that is fine but really not bothered .What will be will be.

Did you go on you tube to have a look at me ? Scarey stuff ha ha.

You are right not to worry about DS through the night you do need your sleep.X

When you see supermarket shot of ladies in pink t.shirts with buckets I am old bat 4th from left reddish blonds hair ( wig no 1 ) and glasses. Then lot of us at end of tills 4th from left again. The head shave is near the end two little girls with buckets standing in the freezing cold on stone steps are my youngest GD's.

If you can bear it the other video is baldy birds for lisa williams it is our lovely girls story, get out the tissues !!She is soooo lovely and never stops smiling. Hopefully latest treatment will help her.
