Hi ladies.... I, too, have questions about every little ache and pain.  On tamox now and no big side effects (a leg cramp every week or so, but that is it) but my lower leg started throbbing last week.  Pre bc I would have just "walked it off" or rubbed my leg until the throbbing stopped. Now it is just a huge new worry. Had an MO appointment so told him about the pain and he sent for  a scan, so new worries as the tech kept sighing with each new picture.  But maybe he just liked to sigh?  Waiting for results.  And preparing for nipple reconstruction on Dec 13.  Having it done in PS office yed undecided about the tattoo.  PS said she could do it, but since I live in DC and Vinnie is right down the road that is an option.  So is a trip to North Carolina for a weekend trip.

Bogie - speeding healing to you.

    Teresa

Fitz, I would have been worried about a blood clot in my leg. And I actually had an ultrasound for that but it was ok. So yeah, that is worrisome. Deep breath, and hang in there.

Everything ok... Doc contributed pains to the leg cramps from the Tamox.  And yes, those are back.  Thankfully those are the only SE for me on the Tamox, so doable.  Getting ready for the nip surgery on 12/13..... still surprised this is done as outpatient in the PS's office.

Janie-bug...you and I were dx'd the same day 11/11/11.  That iteration never occured to me until months later and I just realized it is always Veteran's Day.  Hope to be a longtime veteran of BC.

Hoping to hear from Bogie soon.  Thinking of you.

fitzdc - good luck with the nip surgery. What kind are you doing? That might be my last one, but I'm putting it off til next year. Had enough for now.

Blessing - you are blessed! Your are always going to the beach!

Dealing with Exemestane SE's....just general inflamation and stiffness. I feel so old.  Still walking though, but winter will be a challenge.  Working on 4 months out of chemo, but still have PN in my feet.  I thought they were not getting better, but had an incremental jump towards the positive on Oct 31. Gives me hope.  I don't feel totally human yet or that BC has left me unscathed, but still working on recovery.

Hey, I was dx on 11/11/11 too! At least that's the day I got "the call." Boy, hard to imagine a year gone by already. Sheesh, where does it go? Glad the ugliness is over and looking forward to being a "veteran" as well.

Hope all are doing well and have a Happy and Healthy Thanksgiving.

Cam, Jamie, chrissilini, same date here, 11-11-11. In numerology, 11 is a spiritual number incorporating lessons and teaching them to others. Um, how true that is! LOL everyone have a great Thanksgiving, and we all have reason to be thankful, especially since the year is almost over! LOL

Agree - what a year!!!  For the nip surgery I am having a 'skate flap'.  PS said it was about an hour surgery.  So Dec 13 is (hope, hope, hope) final surgery/procedure.  Then take off the next week for Ireland to see my in-laws.  Usually spend Christmas there, but not last year, so very excited to see the family.

    Dear December Sisters -

A year ago today, I had my BMX w TEs. I had completely forgotten all about it until DH asked me when I had my surgery last year.

Back then, I was so focused on just making it through the day, I never imagined I'd be at this point.

But I have been fortunate, and life is good.

My heart is with all my sisters who are really facing difficult challenges right now.

Thank you for all your support over all the months leading up to surgery, and the months following.

You are all in my prayers, every day!!!

    xoxoxo

Blessings, we are all coming up on our surgery dates. And I know that I feel as you do. Thank goodness for the people on these boards. The ones who got it, kept me sane, cried, laughed and were there for me in ways no one rlse could be. So thanks to all. BTW, are you psychic? Cause you sure are a BLESSING to me!

Good to hear from you guys! I had my ooph a year ago on Dec 7th. I truly thought that would be the end of this journey. 4 surgeries was enough! Not so. Still dealing with lymphedema issues and now having stomach problems. I had a GI Series done last week which showed nodular thickening in the body of my stomach. I am trying to remain positive and calm. But I just read tonight that being BRCA2+ puts me at risk for stomach cancer and now I am freaking out a little! First endoscopy appt available is on 12/24. Send some prayers my way...

Hugs to you all, especially big one for you Ginger!! I can't believe that it's been a year since my MX. That was the first (and last) BIG surgery for me. I'm nearing the end of the surgery journey, I hope. I have one more scheduled for Jan 10 (bumped from Dec. 20 for an active cancer patient) and then just the nipple and areola left to do. We're going to try sedation instead of general anesthesia this time - hopefully the after effects will be less. And I just realized that this will be the first break from school in over a year that I didn't have surgery during it, so maybe the moved surgery was a blessing in disguise.

Thanks to everyone for supporting me and each other, having others who can relate was so valuable and appreciated.

Ginger - ofcourse your post alarmed me, being brca2+ myself, but I specifically asked the geneticist about "stomach cancer" as the rumor was that my grandfather (presumably the pervayour of my brca2+ status), who died in 1925, died of "stomach cancer."   Even the geneticist thought like me, that it was probably pancreatic cancer, that another gene complex (with BC) was related to stomach cancer, but not brca2+.  Are you getting different info??

Geez, I hope it is something else and not stomach cancer.  I would call your geneticist now and discuss this, atleast to ease your fears, not that your symptoms aren't something, but lets not hope cancer.

Hi gals. Yes, the December 15 DIEPiversary is looming. Still having physio to stretch out the tight abs but generally getting around well. I am going to procrastinate about the touch ups a bit more. I guess I could do it in April-May but in Jan-Mar and June I have places to go and people to see :-)

It's nice to have the luxury to do that. Hope everyone else's mysteries work out to the better! Love to hear the good news updates too.
