Is it possible to perish from constipation?!  Never in my 33 years have I made a trip for Milk of Magnesia, prunes, tucks, and preparation H in one fail swoop.  What is everyone else using.  I started stool softeners 3 a day the day of chemo, but was pretty sure I was going to die on the toilet last night.  Happy Monday!

Politicomama, I had the same problem.  tx was on Friday. Finally called the MO because it was so bad. He said a capful of Miralax in Gatorade every 1/2 hour. After 6 glasses of that I couldn't handle anymore. Things finally let loose a few hours later. I need to have a better plan going into the next TX! This was awful!

For constipation: Smooth Moves tea - or anything similar with organic licorice and senna. Plus stool softener capsules - both in the evening.

After bloody first round these are working for me.

    Plus liquids if poss.

politicalmama - MO said capful of Miralax every day or if needed one in morning and one at night.  I found help if I took one dose one evening then the next day take it in the morning.

Itmguy - it's is strange how one act of bravery has changed my attitude.  Friday I was a teary mess and since Sunday I've felt like a strong confident woman.

Guess I should try and get some work done today.

Thank you all of the birthday wishes. I thought any excuse to eat chocolate, is a good excuse :-)

2nd chemo today, I'm very dizzy. I went straight to bed as soon as I came home and just woke up. I have to say how thankful I feel for my husband these days, cause he's so supportive. He's also cooking today :)

Junebug, I couldn't stop laughing at the image of you with the a blow dryer and flying hairs :-) I'm afraid to wash my hair in case all of of it stays in the sink and there you're blow drying it :-)

I think I'll also take charge of the situation and buzz it. It's not going to be long before it all falls out.

Thanks for the advice on the mirolax.  I am on my second dose of MOM, and I have been munching on prunes.  I was able to have a little relief.  It wasn't this bad first round.  Wondering if the change is from adding the compazine on Friday and Saturday afternoon.  Other than being tired and having a tummy ache the SE are manageable.  Or as manageable as being constipated with a 15 month old emptying the bathroom cabinet can be.  You all will laugh that I teach from home and I had to put my tech support guy on mute so I could use the restroom. The joy of cancer!

Eleni - it was a sight to see.  I feel so much better since it's been buzzed.  Now if I can just get used to this wig.  Itchy.

Soteria Ur friend said the same thing as my onc.  I am all good as long as it doesn't get infected.

I now have a kid home sick.  Husband is at work sick.  Friends all all sick I am not yet.... But my head hurts and I want my stones to go away so I can sleep.

I am making the list because it gives me something to do while I am in painUndecided..... Kind of takes my mind off of it.  Last time I passed a few at a time I removed the flooring in our sunroom.  I don't have that much energy this time.  so Here I sit at the computer Shopping, tring to book our vacation rental for the summer, and reading the blog.  I hurt to much to work.  I may do something dumb.  Like tell someone what I mean unfiltered.  NOT GOOD.

Itmguy - sending you a big hug!!!!  I hope you get some relief from those stones soon.

If you want to go off on someone, you could call my online American Literature professor???  I missed a test due to all this cancer stuff.  Never saw the link for it.  I even explained to him what all I've been thru since the end of September - 3 surgeries, MRIs, bone scan, CT scan, CHEMO and losing my hair!!!  I don't think he's going to let me make it up. Yell What do you girls think??  Should I go to the dean and ask him to make the professor change his mind??  I don't think I'll pass the class without it.  Yell

Jennie~I went to a LOOK GOOD FEEL BETTER class today. They are provided by the American Cancer Society. Call them, and they'll set you up. Tell you when & where in your area. They gave us tips in skin care, applying make-up, wearing hats, wigs, & scarves. They gave us a nice make-up bag (filled), a knit hat of our choice, and a beautiful vase of fresh flowers. There were 4 BC patients there. It was fun, friendly, and relaxed.

The cosmetologist told us the spandex type stretchy headbands you can buy at Walmart or the drug store work fine to hold wigs, scarves, or hats in place.

    Blessings

Junebug, give it two to three days. If you don't get a reaction from the professor, contact the dean. Explain the situation and ask him what kind of arrangements can be done in your case.

Are you sure you need that test for passing the class? If not, maybe it doesn't worth the trouble to fight for it.

Thanks Junbug I agree If the guy doesn't come through then yes I would go to the DEAN I know when we were going through my sons Aspergers Dig and my husband was in the Nurse Anesthesist program they gave him some slack..... It was a rough road then for us I was pregent with I child they thought was downs and we were testing my oldest.  He didn't do so hot on a few oral exams,  and in that program when you only have one exam all semseter you are screwed.... It is alot of memory and alot of presure but for our sake we want the program to be hard.  Some people are just jerks.....

I have now reached the polar opposite of the spectrum from this mornings problems.  5 luv.... yes, fire, dire fire.  Never in my life.  Even after the babies.  I was just happy to eat dinner and have it taste good, only within in five minutes to lock myself in the bathroom.

Maryah~You absolutely cracked me up with your Big Girl/Little Girl Panties Story! I really did laugh out loud!

My posse, (dear girlfriends that also go to church with me) took me to dinner tonight at the IRON CHEF. I'd never been before, and I loved it! Our Japanese chef was quite the performer. They wanted to treat me before I start chemo on Friday.

I stocked up today for Fridays Treatment #1. I got baby wipes, hand santitizer, ginger ale, ginger snaps, anti-diarrhea meds, stool softeners, plenty of fluids, Lemon Heads, etc.

I ordered a really nice chemo bag from Lakeside Collections. I hope it comes this week.

Thanks to all of you AWESOME LADIES for sharing a part of your lives with me.

    Blessings To You All

Good on those of you planning holidays. I'm scared to plan anything next year in case I feel crap still.

Soteria - sounds like you're well prepared! Best of luck for Friday!

Starting to wish I'd taken senna from chemo day as I've just spent about 40 mins on the toilet trying to relieve myself. It's not even 5 am and my cats thought it was breakfast time because I was out of bed for so long! This is TMI but I passed a couple of 'pellets' so hope that will help. I was going to take a stool softener but the pack said not to take with antacids and as I was getting heartburn decided to take a med for that instead.

I shouldn't complain as I'm fairing pretty well considering but I'm starting to get really pissed off about why I should have to keep going through this shit. I can't help but wonder 'what next?'.

5Luvbugs - have you called doctor about the bathroom trips?  Maybe time for a change in meds?  Sending you hugs!!! Hope tomorrow is better!!!!!!

Itmguy - I'm giving the professor until Wednesday and then I'll ask the dean.  The way this guy calculates the grades you have to pass every single test in order to pass the class.  I'm usually an A student.  Half way thru college and I have a 4.0 GPA but this semester has been total opposite.  Who can write literary analysis on Emerson, Hawthorne and Poe while trying to do chemo and work full time??  Definitely not this girl!!!  I think I have chemo brain when it comes to school lately.

Soteria - sounds like a fun evening!  You're a Friday chemo girl like me.  Sending you hugs and good luck for treatment #1.

Long day at work but no rest for me. Got home from work to find that my oldest Boston Terrier was still coughing and both her eyes were extremely red.  Thankfully our vet is open until 11pm on weeknights so I was able to take the poor thing to the doctor tonight.  She has an upper respiratory infection & a scratched cornea.  She's sporting the cone of shame now and has almost the same number of meds that I take the first week of chemo.  Frown  She's sleeping now on the couch beside me with her favorite snowman blanket. Wish I could stay home tomorrow with her but I'm afraid after hearing how everyone else is doing after treatment #2 that I will be using some time off next week.

Wishing everyone a good night!!  You ladies are the best!!!!

Day 5 Fire in the belly! Oh for a few more hours of sleep!

Ltmguy- vacation sounds so good! My aunt has a B&B in the keys if u need suggestion. I have summer book tour but H treatments til Nov, not sure of work or play:(

Txjunebugs- im a prof also - u should be able to get - oh crap chemo brain - an incomplete - that allows u to make up work to complete class next time it's offered without affecting grade. Dean may offer medical withdrawl but u dont want to start over!

Anybody else using 'chemo card' to get out of stuff? If only it weren't true!

    Xo

Professor is exempting me from the test.  No credit no penalty.   YEA!!!!!!!  I should pass the class with a high enough grade for transfer credit.

Adagio - my skin got itchy and dry around that time.  Head started tingling around then, too.

Soteria - Thank you for the tip with the headband under the wig.  It's much more comfortable on the tender head today!!!!!  Smile
