14 positive nodes ... can i survive?

I had a occult breast cancer for many years, never left in any examination, until they found a positive node in armpit. Surprise ... in the operation were 14 positive nodes ... I have a lot of fear, someone tell me that I can survive please!

    You will survive and thrive. I had tons of positive nodes, all clumped together. They couldnt really be sure how many, because there was so much cancer. I am here, and very much alive. And you will be too.

    Deep breaths and a day at a time.

    Hi Hun, yes you can and lots of us are still here. I had 10 + not quite sure how many as my chemo gave me a complete response before surgery.



    I'm doing great, what's your plan.

    Thank you very much for your words, I need positive news to keep hope ....my first chemo is on Monday and I hope to be brave.

    Hun, you will be fine, yes it's frightening but you can do it.

    Drink lots of water and I mean lots it will stop you feeling sick and also it flushes the chemo out quickly. Make sure you take your meds, very important.



    Don't have big meals only little snacks.



    Are you having cold cap or buzzing your hair?



    On day three you will feel tired and a bit yucky but the first is ok.



    Just think it's going to make you better and your kicking the shit out of your cancer.

    I had tons of huge, cancery nodes. I also had inoperable ones in my sternum. Here I am, a year (almost) after diagnosis. I feel great.

    You will too. The first couple of weeks are the hardest.

    Syl, you don't even have to be brave, you just have to show up ;)

    Sorry you are dealing with this, but you will find a lot of support on these boards.

    Chemo sucks, but that too shall pass. I am almost a year out form my last chemo and life is good. I "only" had 7 nodes, but I plan to stick around a good while longer.

    I had alot of nasty nodes too. 2 of my nodes were totally replaced by tumor. That was 7.5 yrs ago, and I am well.

    Take good care of yourself . You wil get through this time. Come her often for support and we'll all help you.

    Hi i had 17 positive nodes with two with tumors in them 1 cm and 2 cm leaking cancer into my tissue

    i also had 9 cm  tumor in breast.

    I am still here so far i had surgery,dose-dense chemo,radiation and now have started hormomal therapy(tamoxifen)

    many others out there like me still kicking around -so will you

    I had six nodes, one over 3 cm. My tumor was 7.5 cm. I am surviving and so can you. Take care of yourself to keep as strong as possible while the treatments kick the cancer out of your body. We will al be here for you.

    12 positive nodes for me. I just finished my radiation treatment today and have 10 more Herceptins to go. Stay positive!

    Hi,

    I was Dx, 6/5/2010, ILC, 6cm, Stage IIIC, Grade 1, 22/29 nodes positive, margins not clear, ER+/PR+, HER2-. Six months of chemo before my right mastectomy, Jan. 2011. Ended radiation treatments, Mar. of 2011.   Just about all of the worse case scenario, right?  Yes my Doctors informed me of my MAJOR dilemma straightforward. In the beginning I was just like you, scared to death. If you would read some of my past postings you would see the panic in my writings. As time has passed it has gotten a lot easier to deal with. What a difference 2 1/2 years make. I celebrated my 50th birthday, and my 20th wedding anniversary. Now, I am just on Aromasin daily and Zometa every three months.  Don't read any of those stupid prognosis statistics, I HAVE NOT had a recurrence or mets.

    Get lots of rest. Eat several small snacks per day. 

    Drink lots of water, water, water to flush the body. 

    Stay positive!!!! You will survive this!!!!!

    I had 22 positive nodes following neoadjuvant A/C and T. That was six+ years ago - and life is good.  You can do it!!

    Oh, 3Cbrca, thank you, thank you! What is your secret? What have you done to stay healthy?

    Would you mind posting on the thread I started recently called Stage 3c ER positive ?

    Your story is SO IMPORTANT to those of us with a lot of nodes who are hormone positive.

    3Cbrca - I so needed to hear that!!  I had 33 positive nodes after a reoccurance, and just finished my annual course of herceptin (ER/PR-, her2+).  My doctor is pleased with how everything went, but is offering lapinitib/tyerbk as a further treatment option.  My insurance won't pay for it, and I am unsure if I want to live with more side effects and putting life on hold...I rather spend that money on a gym membership (with lots of cute trainers) or maybe a dream holiday.  Anyway, I will have to let him know this week.  

    Out of curiousity, have you drastically changed the way you live after treatment?  I have made small changes here and there (e.g. don't eat meat, dairy, low sugar, bit more exercise, less harsh on myself) but am going to make bigger changes after NY.

    I had 23 out of 23 nodes all positive with extranodal extension.  I just celebrated my 7 year anniversary and am still NED!  There is life after cancer....and a GOOD life!

    I had my first chemo with taxotere and epirubicin, tolerates very well, just very tired and anxious ... I hope it stays that way!

    Hi ladies, so wonderful to hear everyones stories. I'm doing a 2nd round of chemo (carboplatinum, gemzar and herceptin) after 8/9 lymph nodes still showed cancer to the visible eye when I had my mastectomy. Seems the cancer flipped or orig pathology report didint show Her2+...would you believe?!?! Argh...but I'm doing well and each day gets a little easier. The initial diagnosis and shock back in April of this year was the worst. Hang in there ladies....just keep swimming, swimming, swimming :)
