Dr. Weiss's Think Pink, Live Green Column
Think Pink, Live Green is a way of living that aims to help women reduce their risk of breast cancer or the disease coming back in survivors. It's also a way for women living with advanced disease to make the healthiest choices possible. This regular column is written by Breastcancer.org President and Founder, Dr. Marisa Weiss. It's Wise to Wash Your Produce, August 8, 2012

Mods, I wish Dr. Weiss would change her blog name to exclude the color pink because it doesn't really convey what she might intend (a cure for bc). Rather, it conveys a political movement that has been hijacked by corporations. I do wish there were another substitute.
Also, when someone says "think pink" it suggests that there is sufficient knowledge about BC causes for people to be able to prevent. But that just isn't the case.
Not everyone can afford to "live green". Sadly, in this country, access to organic produce is mediated b6 location and price. Low income Americans often live in areas without fresh commercial produce. Low income areas are also more likely to be situated next to factories, powers plants, etc.... There has to be a recognition that a person's environment is not always under her control.
I wish I could offer an idea for a substitute name. But this one is not sufficiently inclusive either in terms of socioeconomic status OR in terms of how much we really know about the causes of BC (if you've got BC in your whole family, you can "think green" until you are green in the face - it still might not help).

I am offended at the implication that not being "green" or anything else we did caused breast cancer.

Tried this recipe this a.m. Delicious. My husband liked it too. Will be our morning drink from now on - wanting to get off coffee.
