Awesome Members! Appreciation Thread
First off, ALL MEMBERS ARE AWESOME AND I APPRECIATE YOU ALL for coming here, bare your soul to strangers and heal others' emotional wounds.
For me personally, since joining, I have learned so much and feel the need to acknowledge my appreciation. If you read a post from someone and learn from it, comfort by it, come and share. Don't be shy. In your own words, tell the world how someone lifts your day and caress your heart. I will start.
- I appreciate this site, the BCO. It really is the best platform for breast cancer patients to share, learn, play and support. I hope the organization remains true to it's vision and never give in to pressure, politics or big corporations.
- I appreciate Binney, the resident expert on Lymphedema (amongs other things). Her knowledge, her relentless efforts to educate everyone on the issue is amazing. We really can not live without Binney can we?
- I appreciate Beesie for her teaching about DCIS, her indepth understanding of the disease and its surrounding. I know I can count on her reply if I ask question. And not just a reply, it's always a reply with deep thought and caring. Beesie lifts my spirit
- I appreciate Sophiejean. When I read her post, I immerse myself in the sea of scientific data. I admire her ability toconstruct post that translates science jumpo mumbo discourse into everyday conversation. Her posts enrich my knowledge bank. Her explainations of the disease enable me to give myself permission to embrace (and forgave) my right breast.
Now it's your turn :-)).

I appreciate MadBluebird Essa! She has so much experience and knowledge about alternatives and explains every bit of it detail.
I also appreciate Deanna for her many helpful posts. She's very knowledgable.
I also appreciate too many people to mention who lift my spirits and give me a lot of hope, many I have never even communicated with, but I am reading! Thanks everyone :-) -
We appreciate all of our warrior members, for their strength, honesty, encouragement, and realness.
You are a wonderful group of individuals!
With appreciation and admiration,
Your Mods

Sorry to seem ungrateful Mods but "warrior"? Seriously?
There is nothing warrior-like about me whatsoever. I was just someone unfortunate enough to develop a very unpleasant disease.
I don't understand why cancer always attracts this kind of language. Brave, fearless, battling, fighting. Doctors treated me and now I take some pills.
Well .... you did say you liked our honesty! ;-)
-
It's okay greenfrog..... But actually a lot of women are seriously fighting breast cancer, a lot more than I have to.... And it's "they" that a lot of times use those terms.... But ... I'm just 3 years out, and and feel like I'm doing great....!
I WAS taking Tamoxifen, what are you taking? I lost my hearing with that one, so THAT'S what I was fighting.... Didn't do any good, I just got hearing aids.
-
Im your basic warrior...proud of it.
Chevy has been my hero from the beginning of this fight.
Deanna,Patoo,Val andSheila have been walkin with me since 2010
I love my sistas.

GRANNY! You silly girl! Thank you, for just being YOU! I always know where to find you... Remember when this was so tough? And we were so afraid? Well look at us now.... Still have things wrong, but it's friends like you, and the gals on here, that have made it a lot easier. Thank you little Kantalope....
-
I'd like to say a special thank you to ChrissyB for really helping through my little meltdown last night and preventing me from ripping someone a new one! Thanks Chrissy xoxo
-
fifthyear, Thank you!
My list includes Binney too, as well as a few women who I run across regularly in the "Not Diagnosed" and "Waiting for Results" forums, including Coolbreeze, leaf, awb and marie5890. It's not always easy responding to those who are faced with a breast cancer scare for the very first time, and these women show remarkable patience and understanding and compassion. Right from the start, my inspiration on this board was and still is Shirlann, who taught me so much about how to offer support and advice and encouragement to those who are newly diagnosed.
greenfrog, I agree with you completely. I'm not a warrior. I'm not a survivor. The way I see it, when something bad happens to you (breast cancer or something else), you deal with it because it happened and you have no choice. That doesn't make you brave. It doesn't make you a fighter. It's kind of interesting that these words really annoy some women with BC (or people who have other diseases or face other trials in their lives) while others relish the words. To each her own....
-
Well, I don't know how I feel about the term 'warrior', but I do know that if we are in an army, we were drafted...none of us volunteered!
I want to give a shout out to all the members of the 'Lets Post Our Daily Exercise' thread. A great, positive group of ladies. It is not only motivational and encouraging to check in there, it is FUN!
-
What a great topic! But, I'm struggling because I have so many that I would list and too terrified to forget anyone. I did add this to my favorites though as reading the thoughtful remarks really felt good to read.
Dear Mods, you'll always be part of my personal favorites list; ) -
Ruthbru, a shout out to you girlfriend for your uplifting insight to start this, your sense of humor just above made me giggle, drafted, ha! That's the truth!
I don't think we see ourselves as brave, warriors, survivors, etc.. But others (close friends and family) who see what we've been through have a sense of awe about the whole experience, hence the brave, warriors, survivors...
I know that my husband will tell people not to mess with me or piss me off, cause I was a pretty strong person before, but cancer has made me one tough b!tch. Totally a compliment, but you'd have to know us to know that too.
Take care out there! -
I would like to recognize Beesie for her always patient, rational, straightforward explanations for those newly diagnosed, particularly those with DCIS.
Also, special thanks and appreciation to Binney and Kira and the knowledgeable ladies who post info regarding lymphedema.
I have learned so much from all of you!
-
"Awesome" is definitely the word for all of you who help, inspire, cheer, inform, support, console and do so much else to see others in this community through breast cancer.
-
I would like to say thank you to Lago, who was the first one to contact me when I was afraid and overwhelmed. Talking to her on the phone helped calm me down, and she was a great support to me in the early days of my diagnosis.
And thank you to all the wonderful women who have responded to my posts with encouragement and advice. The road would have been much rougher without your support.
-
I would like to say thank you to the members of the Let's Post our Daily Exercise thread, especially my dear Ruthbru inspires me everyday.
I would like to recognize Coolbreeze who has compassionatley helped me through several scares and whose humor in the face of this crappy disease has put many a smile on my face and reminded me how important it is to live.
I would like to recognize LuvRVing, who has faced so much in such a short period of time, yet continues to reach out to the newly diagnosed with her genuine and kind responses.
I would especially like to recognize my girls from the 40 Something thread- especially Profbee- for being the most kick ass bunch of girls I "know" and for the laughter they bring into my life.
You are all wonderful, unique and special individuals and though the reason we were all brought together is not ideal, I am thankful for this place of connection we have. Thanks, BCO, and thank you, MODS!!
-
Hey, thanks misswim.
I also want to recognize all the 'Humor and Game' thread ladies, who keep a sense of fun no matter what else is going on in their lives.
-
Aw, thanks, Miss! I have to say that so many on these boards are so smart, kind, funny, and certainly let their personalities come across the interwebs.
Thank you. I've considered myself so lucky to have this community. My 40-something gals are my daily constants, but I also want to say that although the Stage IV women spend a lot of their time on their own forums, I really appreciate their experience and willingness to share. Lots of love and gratitude to all!
-
This forum was so very helpfull to me three years ago when I was going through diagnosis and treatment. I remember being discouraged because I didn't see many posts from women who were further out from treatment. I understand now it is because we resume living our lives and put breast cancer in the past. Breast cancer taught me many lessons, how to appreciate each day, what things are important and what are not, and how to love myself the way I am and cherish the many friends and family that support me.
I don't know what the future holds and I get anxious every time I have a mammogram or MRI but I try very hard to leave the past there and live every moment. Thanks to the encouragers on this site and the cummalitive wisdom of an army of women who have been through this battle.
When I was diagnosed, I was a single mother, my "boyfriend" broke it off right after diagnosis, and I had two teenagers still in high school.
Since then, I've watched my youngest child graduate from high school, met and married the love of my life, bought a new home, and do many other things I didn't think I would get to do.
Call it God, karma, the universe, or whatever you will. Love and laughter are the most powerful healing properties around. Wishing happiness and laughter to all my sisters here.
-
Every day we're impressed and inspired by the awesomeness of so many members of this community. Thank you!
-
here is wishing a wonderful 2013 to all AWESOME MEMBERS of BCO. May all your wishes come true this coming year.
-
I appreciate Stage IV members! Nothing about BC that they don't have knowledge, or experience. I mean, NOTHING!! Since joining BCO in October 2012, I have been reading everything and anything. I think all Breast Surgeons, Medical Oncos, Radiation Oncos, and Plastic Surgeons, should read these threads and understand THEIR patients! What a platform... and how generous, how willing, how caring they are. It's the Club Mets (I saw the term on their threads) that no one wants to join, but if you have to join one THIS IS THE ONE to belong to. So thank you, all members of Stage IV, from my heart and soul.
-
Today we would like to acknowledge all the new women in the Roll Call 2013 Topic in the Stage IV forum! We are sorry you have joined us there, but welcome you to our amazing group of individuals!
Warm hugs,
The Mods
-
I want to thank the members here for their helpful words of encouragement and suggestions. I do appreciate it, has helped me in so many ways, knowing someone else is going through the same thing. A place to let out your fustration with questions asked and answered. Mods good job in keeping BCO going.
-
Thanks Penelope
But we couldn't do it without all of you lovely people!
-
I honestly feel that without the boards I would have been in a much worse frame of mind both before and after my diagnosis! Beesie's incredible thread on DCIS has helped me a lot. Marie from Rocky Hill and her prayers and comfort and carpediem on the 6 month watch and wait have been amazing.
I also want to thank Flash for reaching out to me as another CT newbie, even giving me her cell # in case I needed to just talk or scream or cry. And, Selena Wolf who also PM'd me to allay some of my fears.
God Bless all of the women on this site. I can't begin to thank them for their support and concern. I am so glad this place exists!
-
I would not name call either for fear of missing someone. Each person here both old and new are the best sisters in the world! I could not have survived the whole experience without the girls that went through chemo with me in the fall of 2008. That being said there were also those that came before us that had loads of wisdom and insight that as a newbie I needed to hear. There are so many women on here that have a gift of knowledge, some for LE, some for the science of the disease and some for the medical side of the story.. There are also those prayer warriors and also those that are able to bring the gift of laughter in an otherwise difficult day. BCO has been such an important part of the journey and it is special BECAUSE of all of you! -
I'm so surprised this thread has stayed quiet for so long.
I now consider myself out of "active" treatment and need to acknowledge some very special women along my journey.
Whippetmom, answered my questions and soothed my fears about the TE/exchange process.
SAS-Schatzi (Sassy), endless amount of knowledge in so many areas, willing to share and keeping everyone informed. The ring-leader of the Insomniacs thread, the "no bullying" zone.
Wahine, thanks for your loyal friendship.
And...
All the countless women who have made by journey this time so much easier as I never felt like I was doing it alone.
Mods (one and all) for all your assistance
-
my awesome girls on the TRIPLE POSITIVE THREAD! started by TonLee
Bessie (always the voice of reason)
Varociousreader (has all the latest studies)
Kayb (who helped me so much when I was first diagnosed)
justagirl (helped me so much on the LD thread)
I apologize if I missed someone, I appreciate everyone on the boards for their advice, encouragement, humor and compassion
-
I would like to add Linda Lou to this thread. She has steadfastly been kind, levelheaded and encouraging to so many of us.
-
I would like to thank Lago and Ruthbru. Thanks for your encouragement on the hormone therapy threads and for encouraging everyone to exercise more.
