Sometimes I post and sometimes I respond to posts....As I sit here at 2 am the day after thanksgiving, cant sleep, wondering what the future holds...you see, we cant predict the future, that is why we have to cherish the time we are given. Around June of 2007 my wife was diagnosed with stage 3 ( at 31 years of age ) breast cancer, In Dec 2008 we were told it had spread to the brain and bone, after different tx's everything stopped working, then we were able to get into the TDM-1 Trial, what a miracle for 2 1/2 years no progression..Ya'll no how it is going to the doctor...anticipating scan results and such, we had been going there so long we just wanted to get in and get out...see you in 3 weeks, it was our life, we became accustomed to it, no big deal. I know im a care giver but i don't like that word because this is my wife, we have been married 10 years dealing with cancer for 5 of those years.To make a long story short our blood work starts dropping and we have to skip treatment and after a few tests.. come to find out she has developed Therapy Related Acute Myeloid Leukemia, THIS TOTALLY BLEW OUR MINDS...but it happens to a very small percentage of cancer patients, we will be starting leukemia treatments Monday ( 5 day treatments per month ) and then Herceptain ( once every 3 weeks ) for the Breast Cancer, this will be a challenge for us..I'm writing this post because I needed to get this out of my head and from time to time look back for some inspirational words when I'm feeling defeated....Thanks and God Bless

    Oh BillyB,

    I have so few words but please know that people can hear you. The wee hours of the morning are not our friends.

     I can only imagine the shock this has been. Words are so small sometimes and can't expressed how much this has blown apart your world.

    You know that somehow you and your wife will find the strength to do what must be done but remember to be so very kind to yourselves and seek as much help as you can. Coming here, even at 2am, you will find someone who will listen and stand in the dark with you. 

    God bless you both and you are right, cherish each day.

    This is something that holds me true to faith. "Trust in the Lord and lean not on your own understanding." You may know the verse and the verse that follows, but I repeat this to myself often. Sometimes there is no understanding and trust is all we have.

    Hi Billy, I am so sorry that this curve ball has been thrown at your wife and even sorrier that she has to go through added treatment.



    Listening is what we are good at so please vent all you want and need.

    Billyb, I'm so sorry to hear about what you and your dear wife are going through. I wish I had a way to ease your burden, but all I can do is send love, and assure you that I will pray for you.

    I am so sorry for what you are both going through.

    May I say how lucky your wife is to have such a loving and supportive husband.

    As someone who is going through the treatment, I know what it is like to have someone to talk to. Priceless.

    billyb Im so sorry this is happening to you and your dear wife... Indeed what a blessing you must be to her. Words are just not there to express the deep turmoil of the whole cancer thing. It is just so ugly. You are both still so young to be going through this horrendous nightmare. You are right, we can't predict the future, and I pray that God will give you the strength to be strong even when you are at your most vulnerable moments.

    I appreciate all the caring messages, I look back from time to time to read them and they give me strength....We send love and care to all of you...Many thanks Billy...Will keep you posted on progress

    Hi billyb, yes please keep us updated. I've been thinking of you and your dear wife. Please know this. Oh how us ladies appreciate men like you. I'd just like to share that my hubby has been utterly amazing too. I cannot overstate the appreciation us woman have, who have supportive hubbys. Not all of us do. I've heard of some horrendous stories, which makes it so much more special to hear men say such things as "I know im a care giver but i don't like that word because this is my wife, we have been married 10 years dealing with cancer for 5 of those years" May God bless you for this.

    You and your wife are in my thoughts. You two must be some really good people to get clobbered like that. It seems sometimes it's only nice people who really have wave after wave of adversity hit them.

    I am pretty new to this, just since September with my own love, so I am still climbing the learning curve of this rollercoaster.

    Keep hanging in there man, and I do mean MAN, because you sure are one Sir.

    keithw, welcome! I'm sorry you are on this rollercoaster too.  LOL well I don't know about the nice part, (not my hubby but me) but I sure know we've had wave after wave of adversity. Lovely to see men chiming in.
