Hello Ladies,

I need your advice on health insurance in Alberta. I am considering quitting my job but afraid of losing the health insurance comes with the job. I have finished all treatments and am in remission now. I wonder how much risk it is living without health insurance in my case. Thank you and best wishes to you all.

I don't live in Alberta (live in Ontario) but your risks relate to the extended benefits that come with your employer, not your basic benefits such as hospital care, doctors' visits, etc which all legal residents of Alberta qualify for.  Depending upon your employer plan you might be forsaking prescription benefits, physio therapy, dental, etc, etc.  Does that answer your question?

Thank yo LizSei for your reply. That is what I am asking. My husband is over 65 so we have blue cross which covers quite some prescription drugs. Actually blue cross paid for the Neulasta, the most expensive drug I used during my treatments. Last time I checked my extended insurance didn't really contribute much. I am asking to make sure that there will not be big surprises next time if I quit my job.

    Thank you all. Best luck.
