I have reached the 5 year mark of taking Arimidex and now am trying to get off Effexor. I went down to 37.5, too,k that for 3 weeks and now quit completely. I am just wondering how any of you have done this. What can I do to relieve the dizziness? I do not want to be on this stuff! I had no idea how hard it would be to get off. Drs don't tell us that! Any advice would be appreciated.

I called the physician, nurse practitioner and even a clinical psychologist to talk about weaning from Effexor after my Tamoxifen ended. They basically told me, "why mess with a good thing?" I know that I will have the effects of Tamoxifen for at least 6 months, so I decided to wait it out and think about trying after the new year begins. I know what it is like to skip a dose or two, horrible feeling.

Please keep posting about your success/ trials with this. I have no advice to share, but am interested in learning how to do this as well. Thanks for posting.

I am on Effexor and have a while to worry about weaning off.  I did read a post in which the person opened the capsule, counted out ten or so beads, did that for a week and then took out twenty beads the next week, etc.  It seemed to have worked for the poster.  Good luck.

When I was on it....I had hallucinations and lots of bad stuff. When I sloooooooowly got off of it...it was the worst 3 months imaginable. There is another drug They will give you to help but I went cold Turkey and suffered pretty bad...I suggest talking to your doc....
