Do you have a chemo port? You mentioned lV being left in.
-
Omeggo, do you take steroids before or during your infusion? Sometimes that gives you weird feelings/racing, heavy heart. Remember to chug that water today.
I made the mistake of mentioning a pain in my back/shoulder to my MO. Off to get an xray today. Why not just do a full scan so we can be done with all the maybes? Ugh, I'm sure it has something to do with being weak and out of shape, having some kind of stupid problem with my neck. I'm not worried at all about mets here. Pain sucks.
-
What is with this BC shit!! Pardon my language, but feeling crazy today.
Wife of woman my husband works with is diagnosed with cancer (friends with him & his brother for years) crap and just found out this morning that a friend from church who lives just around the corner is diagnosed again (17 years later). Double Crap!!! One of the nicest most compasionate people I know.
Not sure if I should cry or scream......... Thanks for leting me vent.
-
I'm so sorry Jane. It really seems like more and more women are being diagnosed all the time. Maybe it's just because I'm more aware of it now. I know the stats have stayed about the same. I wish they could cure this horrible thing.
-
OMG it's true--that's all I hear lately all this breast cancer stuff--and they do so much research and more women seem to be getting it. I know stats are about the same but there are more people than before- I think. So the 2 out of 4 might be the same but there are mor 4's now. Does that make sense--All I know is we're hearin about more people with BC than ever before and much younger than ever before Why? if so much research is going on---Like the saying they can put a man on the moon, but can't cure a cold.
Lik a couple of years ago they had a product for a cold (I forgot the name) and it worked wonders and always sold out, then they took it off the shelves--u can order it but in actuality it was working to good and the drug Cos. didn't want that So somehow they got rid of it--Nothing was wrong that's why u have to order it, but it takes more time to get it I think someone bought them out. So these kinds of things always run thru my wandering mind. LOL.
-
The first infusion is decadron with Aloxi, then the cytoxan then the taxotere, if I"m not mistaken. Today (a day later) I go in for my Neulasta shotand they will infuse me with more Aloxi, Decadron and saline.
-
Wow Omeggo, that's cool that you get the iv fluids and anti nausea the next day too. Are you taking Claritin for the Neulasta?
-
Wow Markat u know alot--I know nothing of the name of chemos or hardly anything--I know Nuelasta and the red deviloh oh and taxol--I got more but have no idea what I got.
Omeggo tell us how u feel when u get home--Oh she's probably not reading this now. Well she'll check in--
OK my girlfriend just called and we are going out to lunch tomorrow--I'm icky today so hopefully I'll feel better tomorrow. Cuz I really wsnt to go So that means 2x in one week OMG am I unhermetuding---NO.
-
Yay for getting out Camille. I hope you feel better too. The decadron she mentioned is the steroid and the Aloxi is an anti nausea. I only know because I'm a weirdo who looks at every bag they give me and double check, lol. I would get Saline, Decadron, Aloxi, Emend, Taxotere, Herceptin, and Carbo. That was a looonnnggg day. One time a nurse waited until it was over to give me my iv Emend. That concerned me, lol.
Done with the xray. It was a guy. I was so worried that I'd have to take my shirt off...but he was able to do it with my shirt on. I did so good at the posing that he asked me if I was in the field
I told him I was a model in my former life. He just looked at me. Then I laughed and said no, this isn't my first rodeo. The registration lady started to give me a hard time about my insurance card. "It is different than what I have on my computer screen". I asked her if she was new. "Ugh Yes." Don't worry lady, they'll get paid.
Oh and I'm a big girl now. I have my own checking and savings account. With $5 in each, LOL!!
-
Oh our little Markat is growing up---how sweet. LOL This day is joyous.
U'r so funny. See being older I'm always taking my top off hahaha as soon as zi see anyone--even the cleaning people--Nothing bothers me snymore.
-
I literally laughed out loud about the cleaning people! Too funny!!
-
markat--eeg. Exactly as I read your post, there was a Prius recall on the news. (I've always wanted one to get away from gas, but settled for a Fit. Gets 38 mpg on the way to work, 41-42 on long trips.) What will you do at your school? Glad you'll have the week, and hope your girls will have some fun, memorable times at school while they're there... making turkeys always sticks in memories, no matter how young or old. Yes... I get the whole week. (Yay!!! I can actually catch up on laundry and cooking and a nap or two!) Our district changed recently when attendance kept nose-diving the week of Thanksgiving, so they threw in the towel and now give the whole week.
FLwarrior--been thinking of you. In another lifetime (it feels) we lived in FL and had to have wipers on at the littlest sprinkle. Have been hoping for dry weather for you! and hoping for straight routes to get you home safely! :-) Funny how we rely so much on our gas-slurping chariots. Unfun when little glitches happen.
K--have your puppies yet? A pond of puppies or just a puddle?
Cheyenna--hope you're feeling better and all went smoothly.
Hugs to each.
-
Wait a minute. You mean there are appts w/o taking your top off?? Seems my routine is the same old, same old... pop a top off a cold one. (the rooms have to be about 57 degrees!) :-)
markat--Congrats on the independent accts! You should pay yourself for each appt, and watch your $ grow! then go on a cruise!
Camille--one procedure I had was literally standing room only. They packed in about 15 to witness my agony. Felt like I'd been on the six o'clock news. (gee... once upon a time I was such a private person.) I guess I should've looked around a bit. Coulda been the entire cleaning staff!
be good, hermits.
-
Markat - wow $5 ... going shopping on Black Friday ... don't spend it all in one place.
Yesterday when I had MRI they always work so hard to preserve your modesty, but really at this point I think everyone's seen them anyway ... # of pics of them I have had taken in the last year I think I should be getting paid.
Cami - hope you feel well enough for your lunch
-
Hello Hermits!
Just resting up and grateful the chemotrain is almost done! Will catch up later
Hugs to all!
-
Sorry for u guys still on chemo--it sucks
And ow can u be modest when u'r in the hospital and they have to stay in there in the bsthroom watvh u poop and take the sample right away. It's all so disgusting and one time my aid was a young 22 yr. old guy and it was disgusting and he had to watch me. Of course if I was a 20 yr. old georgeous girl he'd be fine--but poor guy had to see all this sh*t litterally. hahaha
-
Oh Camille, that would be really uncomfortable. This guy was probably my age. My BS, PS, MO, OB/GYN, family doc, physician's assistant, and chemo nurses are all women. The only men I've had in this process has been the student that sat in my diagnostic ultrasound, the radiologist that told me I had cancer, my original biopsy surgeon, the guy that gave me my PET scan, and this guy. Oh and a jerky ER doc I saw right when I started chemo. So all the flashing is usually to my female docs.
Whaevah, hope you are feeling okay. 1 more right? Or are you done now?
Jane, I know. I'm rolling in $$$.
I'm so done with cancer. Done, done, done done. The tech said today, "were you in an accident? Or did you have a fall." Nope, I had breast cancer and everything sucks now. Except good coffee creamer, my kids laughing, my DH not grumbling, and laughing at my judgy neighbors who now have a jalopy parked in the front yard. That's so funny to me.
-
Markat hahahaha---u'r alot younger that's why u think that way. But when u'r older and have had surgeries before and of course add in the babies and yrs ago whenever u went for a checkup they always felt u'r breasts--I don't know if that was part of it then or they just wanted to--so after a while it got to be nothing to me, that's why it doesn't bother me, my cousin, sister it doesn't bother any of us anymore.
I talked to my girlfriend today and now the plan is tomorrow lunch.
Skittle do u notice too sll Drs. hands are ice cold, well usually it feels good but they are really cold.
Whaevah almost done??? Wonderful
-
Oops I totally forgot skittle! I'm going to be an aide. I don't start until the first week of Dec. That's so weird about the Prius! I'd love it if DH could get by with a smartcar or whatever they are called, but he does drive the girls around in his car sometimes. It's 12yo and on it's last leg (tire?). I have a mom van we use mostly.
I was a couple years behind on my gyn visit. Sometimes I wonder if she would have caught the lump before me but I try not to think about that. It seemed to grow really fast though. -
You chatty hermits! I have SO much to say (write) and NO time to do it. Probably that's lucky for you! Maybe I'll be back later.
Please continue your hilarious inspirations! I'm day three from Chemo #2 and I feel really loopy...and I have two, count 'em two psych appointments today ("regular" and "hypno"). Just worried about the driving part...
God bless Emend and Miralax. But I really wanted to share the show-and-tell stories (flashing to our docs). I can so relate and I have a couple of funny ones (well, to me anyway).
Ciao for now, hermitites (almost passes for hematite, for you rockhounds in here).
-
Omeggo 2--ap'ts today--well at least they'll be over eith. What is the hypn. for and be careful with criving today.U'r having a rough time I know but I hope we help a little.
-
Cami - hope your lunch is great.
Markat ... I hear you, had just rebuilt myself into a happy life and crap BC. Why I hate when stupid people say things like "cancer is a gift... or we should grow from our challenges". I was happy with the life I had I just want it back and my healthy body too!
I have mostly women around me too for dr.s which I like ... think they are more compassionate.
My couple of funny stories lately. When I went to see my MO (he is male) last time he had a young male med student with him. He had seen my US reports and heard what I had told the nurse about bleeding problems etc. So he walks in the room and says "so let's talk about your periods". I thought the poor young (asian) boy was going to pass out .. guessing this wasn't a conversation starter in his home. lol Guess he better get used to stuff if he is going to be a dr.
When I went to get pelvic xray my dr wanted a couple of weeks ago the girl tech positions me and then puts this little tiny thyroid guard over my neck. Seriously. I couldn't help but giggle. Really you think one tiny xray or two is going to be what kills my thyroid? She looked at me weird ... so I kind of had to explain I had radiation therapy 6 months ago and they don't cover it and that my boob is what is nuked to the max. So she puts the big lead drape over my whole chest.... young and new and I think I confused her.
Ommego and whaevah ... wishing you done and healthier soon.
-
I am off to see my RMT in a few minutes and will be in a much better frame of mind to post when I get back. Had a little episode of misplaced anger yesterday,
, dishwasher broke , poor repairman, made me wait
Timing is everything, markat can you lend me $5 ? I hear you are rollin' in it these days.
Thanks for all the good wishes my happy hermit heroes! Boogied eyed but feeling pretty good ...1 more to go...thank the sweet baby cheeses.
Be back later to chat when I get the debbil massaged out of me
-
Jane--good ones. Hahaha
Whaevah--$5.00---now all these people are going to be coming out of the woodwork Markat for u'r money LOL
Oh I had such a good time with my gf--we've known each other since we were 15 and we haven't changed the way we act. I really hadn't seen her in a while but she's moved back aroundhere and it was exactly like where we just left off. being silly and laughing. She just lost her boyfriend of 12 years so I felt bad for her and she's easy to make laugh so she said I could always make her laugh and she seemed so good when she left. I'm glad. I'm really not funny just silly. Anyway it was great. And I fell only once and she got all upset which made me laugh harder--I'm fine. So now I'm exhausted but I drank coffe so I hope I don't fall asleep early.
-
Well I'm back from all my grown up stuff. Drug test, background check and FBI check finished. So I guess I'm officially in the system now with my own accounts and everything. No longer a real hermit LOL! I could have beat Camille on That one. I just needed a secluded cabin, some flannel and bushy beard.
Omeggo- hope your appts went well and you're feeling good.
Camille - was lunch today?
Jane- that's funny about the thyroid guard.
Whaevah- lol! So glad you're almost done! The repair man made it out of your house right? What's RMT? Sounds dirty.
My shoulder is fine. It's just extremely painful for no reason apparently. Joy. -
Cami - so happy you were able to go and have a good lunch.
Hope your RMT isn't dirty. My DD#2 is studying to be one.
-
Markat why do most of us have something really wrong with us and we're told ---can't find anything????
So now u'r official--did they fingerprint u? be careful where u leave u'r fingerprints--they can even get them off bodies now. Hey just wear gloves.
This better not mean u'r leaving us--OK during work hrs, but other than that no excuses. Just a couple of weeks!!!!!!
-
Oops Camille must have posted while I was typing on my phone. I'm so glad you had fun! Ugh about the fall!
You are right about that! I really don't want to see an ortho surgeon. I'm sure it has something to do with my neck. -
Loves it here LOL
Camille, so glad you had a laugh with your gf! Nothing like a good laugh in my books, makes my day!
markat...another good laugh, as always YOU make my day! My RMT is female, not my type
poor repairman, imagine a ghost with white hair (little pepper starting to show) in a rage
I bet he has been medicated ever since...my bad. And please don't grow up too fast.
bgirl...yay! DD#2 is a most needed part of healing IMHO, my RMT is also certified with lymphedema massage and I think that is fantastic. What I also love about seeing her, is that I see other breasties coming and going, all stages of treatment, we connect with a knowing smile. Very cool.
Omeggo..I know that loopy feeling, wait I am that loopy. I have found chemo messes with my head, not that there is a lot to mess with but those couple of brain cells, the hanger on'ers that survived my youth really feel off with each infusion. Infusion, geez, sound like a floral scented tea.. how deceptive! HATE Decadron.
Skittle...put your top back on
Speaking of FBI and background checks, I saw an e card;
"I've been hiding from exercise. I'm in the Fitness Protection Program."
kltb...where are the puppies, you promised us puppies
-
Hi *waving* to you funny hermits! I wanted to stop by and see what everyone is up to. I missed out on my good usual sleep last night, so I am very tired and turning in early tonight. I am SSSOOOOOO glad that tomorrow is Friday and that next week is just a 3 day work week! Hooray for short work weeks!
