Waiting to have a "punch biopsy"

Options

OK, so I've had a strange red area below my lft. shoulder. Doesn't hurt, doesn't itch, or ache. I noticed it after a shower about a month ago. Its the size of a tennis ball, but more oval shaped. Its kind of like a bruise, but its reddish. Its starting to spread upwards. I called my onc, and was told to go to my primary doc. She saw it, and said it wasn't something she had seen before and referred my back to my onc. He felt the area and could feel a soft mass, and so could my husband. Sent me to get an US with biopsy. They couldn't find any thing to biopsy. Great, right? Dr. of radiology asked if I had ever had a PET scan, and said that he was suggesting a "punch biopsy" to get a piece of the skin looked at. I am scheduled for the 28th of Nov. I've had breast cancer twice, am BRCA2+, had a bilateral mastectamy, and so I'm kind of nervous. I have an aunt who died of multiple myeloma, who probably carried the BRCA 2 gene mutation as well. Does this sound familar to anybody?  Am I being too worried about this? I feel fine... Its just that all three doctors who saw this area don't know what to say about it. Would love some feedback.

Not to long ago I had the same thing happen. It was an inflamed area around my nipple of my remaining breast. Went to my bs who thought it might be an infection of some sort. He put me on an antibiotic for a week. I thought for sure it was skin mets or ibc. You know how that fear grabs you. Anyway the antibiotic didnt do any thing for it so my bs did a punch biopsy which came back negative for everything. He was pretty comfortable with the watch it and see what it does. Its still there but hasnt changed any in the past month. Onc. saw it today and wasnt concerned about it either. Hope it goes well for you-

Thank you! Your similar situation helps me a lot. Hope it turns out the same for me. Just like you said, b/c of our bc backgrounds our minds always go in that direction. I try not to but at the same time we have to stay aware and not be in total denial either...ahhh....the balance is key.:)

In looking at your history, you began chemo again this past Aug.? I hope you are doing OK. Very nice of you to reply even while you are going through a hard time. Take care,
