It is baaaaack!

This is my first recurrence and I am going back into Chemo this week on Thursday. Was NED in March but the Tamoxifen did not hold it all back.

Was wondering when to stop tamoxifen before starting Chemo? They said the day before, stop taking it, but isn't there a downside to stopping cold turkey?

Oh Kara. So sorry to hear that. We are all here with you (ok I might not seem much help from Australia), but the women on these boards are fantastic and give me such strength and great information.

I know nothing about Tamoxifen, but I do know about the shock anger and grief that comes with a recurrence.

I wish you strength over the coming weeks, and the opportunity to have a damn good cry at some point. Cancer sucks, but we are here for you, day or night.

    With love,

    Angela

Thanks Angela! I am disappointed, but I know this is the best route. It just makes me mad that 2 out of 25 nodes were positive, it spread so far through out my body. It was gone then it came back.

I'll shave my head again in the next few weeks, just to be ready.

    Kara,

I'm so sorry to hear of your dx. I took Tamoxifen after my first go around with this, and I would stop and start abruptly with no problems. But, I also never really had side effects to speak of when taking it either, so maybe that helped.

Currently, I am taking Tamoxifen and Xeloda at the same time. I have heard that Tamoxifen can work against chemo, but I trust my onc (so far). I'm new to this (only a month into this new diagnosis).

    Hugs to you,

    LL
