    Hi girls,

I am back. The conference ended at 1:00 p.m. yesterday and then I drove for 10 hours. My back was killing me but I decided not to break up the trip and just get on home. The last hour and a half was in a mostly wooded area with lots of deer and other animals that like to run in fron of cars. Sometimes I have more brawn than brains, but I got back safe and sound. I am having a hard time getting started on my day after the long drive and picking up 17 hours of CE credit. I have to get 23 more before the December deadline (every two years). BC really slowed me down in that area. I usually have them all by now.
The Inderol is not doing much good. A colleague at the conference told me Lycera would probably be better. I guess anything would be worth a try. Since the Inderol is not doing much good, I am more sure than ever a nerve was probably damaged suring the extensive surgery.

Hey, Glad you had a good trip. Welcome back to the same old. I have been working on the new place but not doing any major things as its just a summer place. I do have to replace windows, bummer! I have the yard looking good but I have to go to Springfield today and find some herbs. I have to grow my own. I have some tomatoes planted and flowers. I landscaped the yard and did a lot of digging to put bricks and stone in so I have been exhausted. Good thing we once were landscapers cause it saved a lot of money but boy the back! Well better get busy and I have to get me a ticket for Phx. for the 20th. and I think I will stay about a wk. I am going to look at some places. Hope everyone is haveing a great wk. end. God bless our Vets, our gov. should do so much more for them because we wouldn't have a Government without their sacrifice!!!!! Hugs, Mary

Hi All--Hope everyone is enjoying their Memorial Day. My sister and brother-in-law were here from the 15th thru the 22nd. He put in an electric hot water heater in the utility room UPSTAIRS. Now I don't have to worry about it getting flooded in the basement ever again. It is so nice to have hot water again. He also took the propane heater out of the wall that I hadn't used for 2 years. Apparently there had been a fire in there because the wood around the edges and on the bottom was charred. Scary. I don't even know when that happened. We drove up to see our Mom over the weekend of the 20th and 21st. She was better this time in that she knew who all of us were by name and she did have several coherant conversations with us. Of course, she also had some really "out-there" statements too so it was a bittersweet visit. On the 19th my sister drove me to the hospital because my HGB level has again gone south on me so I'm pretty anemic and feeling all the great things that go along with that. I had to have an Aranesp shot and am supposed to go back on the 2nd to have bloodwork and possibly another shot. BUT--I plan to leave for Oregon on the 2nd for the Sara Fisher Breast Cancer Walk/Run that is on Sunday the 4th. I think I feel better--One of those "mind over matter" kind of things. Well, actually, I'm only partially freezing to death on a 75 degree day and I'm only a little bit tired. But, the sheep are lambing like crazy and I have hot water in my house so....Life is Good--Smiles--NancyLee

Lamb and hot water. Not much in life gets better than that.

Janie, there are much worse places for conferences. Good job picking one with a good location.

Mary, you're just so busy all the time. You tire me out.

I was back at work after a glorious 6 days off. I could get used to that if they'd only pay me for not working. We didn't really do much other than errands and fun stuff. Took the cat in to get her microchipped (since she loses every collaar we get her). We stopped at a frozen custard place on the way back home and they gave us an eensy little cone for the cat. Pretty funny.

All's good here. Go in in a few weeks for physical therapy, as I think I have the dreaded lymphadema. Other than that, no problems. I do get pretty dizzy a lot. I was worried about mets, but I'm pretty sure it's just the Femara. It's a side effect and I hear light-headedness is also a symptom of menopause. I hope it's one that stops after awhile.

    Later,
    Paula

Mary and Nancy Lee, I could not begin to keep up with the two of you. It's good to see you both pretty much business as usual.

PJ - Bummer about the lymphedema> It is not a fun thing. I am thinking about looking into getting a compressor or whatever they are called for home so I would not have to wear the wraps/l=sleeve as often.

I have a consult with the ps today, my regular follow-up with the onc tomorrow and get a teeth extracted Monday. Then I have to be on hand for 3 days to testify as an "expert" witness. It seems all my days "off" are not off. But as NL says, Life is good.

Have a great day guys, you too Renee.

Hey Girls, glad everyone is humming along. They delivered the "new Castle/Shed" yesterday. Hubby will be proud but he won't have much time to spend in it. I bought him 2 work benches and shelves with doors and I put them together. I knew he wouldn't have time and I wanted to surprise him so I put them together and I am sooo much a better carpenter than he but I wouldn't tell him that. They have a drawer and it works so I am impressed with me! I did so well I scare myself. He was going to be home tomorrow but now he don't know. He will sit out in the shed and admire it for hours. We have to get the rest of our stuff out of storage. It is all his tools. It has rained all day and I mean all day. It is cold too. Hey Nancy Lee makes me tired. She is soo much braver than I with that Jeep in the snow. I am going to Phoenix Wed. the 7th. and returning Mon. the 12th. I think my oldest daughter and I are going up to Chicago the 21st. she is doing some kind of discrimation work for the state so she has to go to Chi. a lot. I want to see the King Tut exib. You know I had a fix-it-guy here 2 days for the kitchen faucet and outside faucet and I haven't had anyone here to "fix" anything since hubby has been gone. I kinda miss all the plumbers and electric guys and carpenters. It is awfully quiet here. I haven't heard the sound of hammering or wizz of the power screw driver or ringing of the power saw. I DO NOT however miss all the expense. I am sure he will "fix" something while home. I have all the real "fix-it" men on speed dial. Sounds like P.J. had a good wk. Rene must be busy with her new business and thats good. I hope it does well. Janie, I hope that arm gets better for ya. Nancy Lee, did your counts get back up? Well I better get a sweet snack. Later, Mary

I'm watching the National Spelling Bee. I can't even pronounce half the words much less spell them. These kids are remarkable. My onc office called twice today--first to find out if I was going to be up there tomorrow for another Arenesp shot and second to find out when I want to "look into the suspicious area" that showed up on my last mammo and ultrasound. The answer to the first question was that I am leaving for Oregon in the morning and I feel pretty peppy so I think that my anemia is okay for the moment. Besides that--if I start to feel crappy, I'm sure they have medicine in Oregon too. The answer to the second question was that I don't want to think about that until I get back from The First Vacation I've Had In 14 Years!!!!!!! This ewe just had a set of triplets out in the lane by my house. They're so tiny and white. She cleaned them all up and they're up trying to eat. They'll have to learn to wait their turns as there are three of them and only two spickets. AHHHH--this poor girl is so tearful cuz she couldn't spell this stupid Greek word that no one on God's green earth has ever heard of before and would never use EVER to speak--"Any alternate pronunciations??" Well I'd better get the rest of my packing done. I really do intend to hit the road in the morning. I'll get on my sister's computer when I get there and let you know what adventures I have on the trip over. Nothing is EVER uneventful for me so I expect I'll have something or other to share. Bye for now--Life is Good- Smiles NancyLee

Business is going good, but have been busy with the guys again. The oldest was home for 1 week so we squeeze every possible appointment in. He's been having back issues since Christmas so I made him go to the chiro. On the x-rays, they found why, his 3rd vert. is fused to the pelvic bone- they call it batwings and 20% of the population has it. Bummer for him as he will always have some issues with it-sometimes it will act up, but not always. He leaves soon for Kansas and we'll follow with a van load too. He'll be there for 2 years. We made it thru all the graduations and moves and look forward to a relaxing (haha) summer- on the deck - with a glass of wine or margarita in hand!

Hey, Renee, you've been busy! I'll be up your way in about, oh, 4 weeks. We should have lunch or something.

Have to go help my MIL with a garage sale tomorrow. If I were a nicer person, I wouldn't be dreading it.

So, I've been having these light-headed moments for the last, well, since I got on the Femara. Had blood checked today (for anemia, I guess) and the nurse says my blood tests were "awesome." So I guess it's just the low blood pressure thing. She told me to drink lots of fluids and see if that helps. Could it be that easy?

Hope you all get some time to relax this weekend. You're all so productive. I'll be pretty much lazing around after the garage sale. Nancy, have fun on the vacation.

Wow! Such productive lives! Tykerb made national news last night...much the same as Herceptin a year ago..astounding results. It has better accessibility to the brain area and is us HER2 girls ace in the hole if the big H fails us.

I have lots to do today so I guess I should get to it. Everybody stay cool and have a great day.

I hope that suspicious area is just fibracystic changes. We are going to stay cancer free ya all hear????? Janie, I haven't heard about the Ace in our hole. Ahhh, medically speaking, the medication. I will have to look that up. Is Ace young and good looking? You girls aren't going to be close to Chicage the 21st. are yous? I am glad everyones having a great wk. end. I better go get packed. I am having soo much pain in my feet especially my heals its hard to walk. I think my hair quit growing so maybe it will grow now and not be so dry. Later little Gators, Mary

    Hi all,

Nancy Lee, no more unpleasant surprises, ok?

Mary, Tykerb is the same as Lapatinib. The molecules are smaller than Herceptin and can get more places. My hair grew slower on HErceptin and others said theirs did too. Mine still isn't back to normal. It is thin, too thin and every time I try to let it grow out, it goes haywire.

    Later Gators,

Hi--I'm at my sister's house in Oregon. I got here Saturday afternoon after driving for 1300 miles. I did stop for the night in Idaho at about midnight because there was so much truck traffic on the interstate and I don't see all that well at night. I thought it would be safer. Oh, Mary, your husband would appreciate this--I was tooling along the interstate by Livingston Montana and I got behind this truck that was passing this little red car VERY slowly. After following him for a long time in the extended pass--I glanced over at the red car as I went by. The young woman appeared to be wearing nothing, but then I realized she was driving topless AND nursing her baby as she drove along. I could see this from my jeep and I'm sure the view from the truck driver's vantage point accounted for the length of time it took him to pass the car. I thought of calling the highway patrol to report her--What a Moron--to put her child's life in such danger. There are rest stops and lots of exits where she could have stopped to take care of her infant. Then I stopped in Livingston to get some bananas and water at Albertsons and when I was clear over on the other side of Bozeman--I passed the little red car again and she had the baby in the back in a seat and she was fully clothed again. That's the most memorable travel topic--I saw lots of really weird drivers and road construction is underway in all three states that I traveled in, but I made it. We went to the Sara Fisher Heaven Can Wait walk/run on Sunday. It was a lot of fun and really touching to see so many survivors feeling so good and taking part in the event. My sister and I just walked along and talked. One of the best parts was walking in and out of conversations that people were having along the way and the scenery was nice too. It rained all of Saturday night and right up until about 5 minutes before the race started and then held off for the next hour and a half and then started sprinkling again. All in all--it was great and I'm so glad I got to actually attend this year. Well, I'm gonna shower and go out for a little walk. Yesterday when I was out walking this big red dog tried to jump over a board fence to get to me and was hanging there growling with his head and front legs hanging over the fence. Needless, to say, I'm taking a different route today!!! Bye for now--Life is Good-- Smiles NancyLee

Chicago?????? Why not come to Montana? Big Sky Country--You could stay at my ranch. I'd actually tidy up for that (or maybe just put everything in boxes and shove them behind the couch) but it'd look tidied up!!!!!! My little walk yesterday ended up at Barnes & Noble. I called my sister and told her that I was sitting in the air conditioned store reading a book so she picked me up on her way back from work. It turns out that B&N is 3 and a half miles from her house so my little walk turned into more of a hike. My BIL had gotten home early from work and had seen my note that said I had gone for a walk with the time listed as noon and it was 4:00. He was worried that I was wandering around lost somewhere in town. I should have told him that I had my cell phone. I figured if I got too lost I'd call for help, but I have a sort of internal radar that can find a bookstore pretty easily. You're right about the positive stuff on the HER2 thread--It's looking better and better for us every day. Life is Good-- Smiles NancyLee

Montana would be a beautiful place to relax... just not in the winter. We may have to visit Mary in Phoenix or Paula in Texas in winter. You may have figured it out, but I will travel almost anywhere to do almost anything.. including just sitting by the water -any water- reading or crocheting. I was going to go for a bike ride today,, but the weather isn't cooperating. Yesterday our driveway was resurfaced so I had to park my car at the bottom- which doesn't sound bad until you know the driveway is 1/2 mile, so 5 trips later -2 1/2 miles I got my exercise in for the day. Got #1 son settled in Kansas- it is hot and windy there- much to his dismay. I remind him, you can do anything for 2 years, then go where you really want to be. I'm in a cleaning/ tossing mode so I better be off to toss more 'lovely items' Take care

Hey Girls, Its so sunny here every day I could just do a dance. I am sure the sun is going to shine at home too soon. I get so sick of winter cloudy. I am just a ball of fire. Painful feet, crampy legs, low energy, fire. I do feel better here, I know that. I am having a great time and wish you all were here with me. P.J. when are you going to be in WI? Rene, I love to travel too. I can stop, drop and roll down the highway anytime. It doesn't matter to me where we go. If we come to WY. do you want me to bring hubby to "fix" things up for you Nancy? Hey it's not a problem, ha,ha. We need to all get together soon. Yes Rene, the beach and sun would be nice. Hey P.J. do you still have the bracelet? Since P.J. has Nathan we can find a place easy for her. Well I have to get ready to go, think I will do some shopping today. If we got together up North Janie could fly into Springfield(or drive) and we could take my car up North. Well gotta get going. Hugs, Mary

Oh, shoot, Mary. I do still have the bracelet. I actually got ready to send it back and then needed to get an address and then .... forgot.

Travel, huh? How about South Padre in the winter? Nice beach. Or so I hear.

I'm headed up to Wisconsin July 1, fly out the 8th. I'm hoping it's not 100 degrees up there.

Mary, glad the sun and warmth are treating you well. That northern living is just for the birds, if you ask me. As a transplanted Yankee, I couldn't live up there again. Shoveling snow? Ick.

Boring weekend ahead. Can't wait. Cabinet guy is coming to give us an estimate on new ones for the kitchen. Hope you all have a good one.

    Hey Ladies,

All those places sound great. Since we were dx'ed in 2004, I guess the five year would be in 2009. It will be here before we know it.

My Dad has been dx'ed with Altheimers. We are going to get him in an assistive living Altzheimer's unit, but for right now we are taking turns staying with him. His short-term memory is shot. My son and I went with him to a little fish place out in the country tonight. I blew my Nutri-System diet and ate too much, but it was good.

Hope everyone has a great weekend.

    Hi Ladies,

I am procrastinating. Have too much to do. Sometimes when there is so much to do, it is so overwhelming, you just don't do any of it. I put off too much until summer break, not to mention all the medical apts. I have one dental tomorrow, and 2 doctor apts Tuesday including my follow-up with the onc.

Sounds like most of you are enjoying fun in the sun. Way to go. Mary, do you all still ride the Harley?

Janie, sorry to hear about your Dad.
I know when you say there is so much to do, you just put it all off... been there, done that. Fortunately, there comes another time where I just go,go, go. I have been trying to spring clean and still in that mode. It feels good to finally have a really clean kitchen floor and cabinets. Of course, I scrubbed forever to get it that way and it will only last a few days, but it looks good now! I had a customer come by and she came into my office to pay ... that is the messiest place.. I hate all the paper trails I have... anyways, her business is SOS- simple organizing solutions- bet she left my house shaking her head!
Paula, it was a good thing you didn't come to WI over the weekend.. it was quite cool here- I pulled out a turtleneck!
    Hope Mary is having fun!
    Renee
