pea sized lump in biopsy scar

Options

I was diagnosed four years ago with cancer in the left breast.  I also had a tumor in the right breast.  Biopsy on the right was benign.  About three weeks ago I discovered a small pea sized lump in the biopsy scar.  It is hard, not moveable, a little red and not painful.  I am thinking it is fat necrosis or a little cyst.  Any ideas?

For peace of mind get it biopsied. A little cyst will aspirate away.

Thank you sewingnut.  I have an appointment Jan 4 with oncologist.  I had a mammogram two months ago and it was ok, so I think I am safe to wait for regular oncologist appointment.  Hoping someone will come along who has experienced this.  Blessings

I found a lump near my lumpectomy scar, i saw my onc in August and she suggested fat necrosis as i'd had my last mammogram & ultrasound in May. I went for my checkup with the BS today & am booked in for ultrasound & biopsy on 19 Nov. She thinks it needs further investigation. Even though I'm worried, I'm so glad to be getting the tests so I will know for sure (and hopefully stop worrying when it comes back benign!!).

So I had my ultrasound today, and they were happy that all they were seeing was normal breast tissue - so I didn't need a biopsy. Phew!! A huge weight has been lifted off my shoulders and I can get back to life.  Even though they tell us we should still do our own regular breast examinations, I think I might leave my boob alone for the next six months - it is way too stressful!

I also found a pea sized lump which had gotten somewhat more pronounced over the last 2 months, so yesterday I saw my BS.  She believes it is fat necrosis, but did a biopsy.  Will get results next Monday.  Has anyone ever had a biopsy for fat necrosis that turned out not to be fat necrosis?  Just curious.

I have had an ultrasound recently and this lump has turned out to be a cyst.  The doctor did an ultrasound of neck, chest, both axilla and both breasts and found no problems and nothing new.
