new to Toronto...looking for an oncologist/hospital

Options

Hi everyone,

I just moved back to Canada after many years in the US. Looking for oncologist options, and am wondering if I should be thinking about the hospital system or more about the individual doctor. I'm stage one, three years out of treatment, but with a number of ongoing health issues due to chemo. I'm definitely a worry wart and do best with doctors who don't panic and order scans at the first sign of trouble. Maybe that's more of an American thing? I've been through a number of cancer scares already in just three years, so this is important to me. Also, any advice about how to go about getting an onc? I called Sunnybrook, just out of curiousity and they said I would get my onc in the US to submit paperwork, and then they would assign me someone. So that made it sound like I wouldn't be able to request someone I think would be a good fit. Any advice would be appreciated!

PS: If anyone can recommend a good GP who has experience with breast cancer survivors, I would also be grateful! Sounds like this will be tricky too, as the only ones advertising that they accept new patients are just out of med school.
