Is this normal?

I was diagnosed with IDC and ILC, stage 2a, grade 3 node negative, Her2 + four years ago. I opted to keep my natural breast after a unilateral mastectomy. My cycles returned after 15 months and have been regular since then. For about 8 weeks now my underarm has been hurting. When I stand up from laying down I feel it hurt most, and sometimes I will feel a sharp "zap" there. I can roll a little jiggly feeling ball about the size of a jelly bean around under my arm pit. I suspect it is a lymph node but should I be worried? It was ultrasounded in August when it started hurting but the radiologist didn't see anything at that time. I am not due for a breast MRI for another 3 months.

    Get it checked as soon as you can. You never know....could be nothing could be something and if it's the latter, you want something done right away. (((hugs))))

    Lymph nodes can swell up for a ton of reasons that have nothing to do with cancer.  Obviously, a cancer patient's mind is always going to "go there" but it could be anything.

    I would call your oncologist for an appointment to look at it.  But if he's seen it already, and he and the radiologist think you are okay to wait for three months for the MRI, then I think you are probably okay.  It never hurts to go to the doctor and get things looked at but then you have to trust their expertise.  Sometimes it's hard when you are scared but it's important.

    And, while I don't think it's mets or cancer spread, even if it was, three months isn't going to make any difference.  Once it's out, it's out.  It goes against the way our minds work but finding mets early doesn't mean you have a better outcome.  But I'm sure you are going to be fine.
