Do you ever just feel like one big bill??
Really hating life right now - I dislike all the mess you have to go through with medical bills you can't pay... just for them to deny you for financial aid because you make too much money???? I would sure like to know where the money is??? And yes $4000 of the bill is for LE Treatment that I can't just put by the wayside ..
All the available funds, where I live, go by what you make - My DH and I now have good jobs, but not a good insurance. This puts us into that hole where you aren't qualified to get anything... I have tried the County cancer society.. the local cancer associations...not sure where else... There is a list floating around the boards of where to go for help but the list didn't have anything in our area... I have already had my church foot the bill for some of my Lymphedema supplies and I just think that is enough to ask for.. Then today, being on the phone with the medical center about how they denied my financial aide and we now owe over $13 k ... and it keeps going... that isn't finished. I still have more of the LE treatments and my new sleep apnea issues coming up...
For those who want to tell me about antidepressants: Until my apnea is straightened out, I can't take anything that makes the apnea worse at night... as it is my DH stays awake all night to roll me over when I stop breathing... Trying to get financial assistance on the machine, but we are in a hold, not knowing a yes or no yet.. the machine is going to cost @ $1300 plus supplies..
The list goes on: I also have been dealing with an open wound from a seroma and surgeon is thinking maybe another surgery because my scar tissue from radiation isn't healing right... I just can't do this anymore...
My DH just hates when I say I'm sorry... but I am sorry, I really just feel like a big bill.... .

GmaFoley- I can relate to your post so much. I'm definitely feeling like one big bill right now! For the third year in a row I've maxed out my out of pocket from medical bills even now- 3 years out from dx. This year was from a dx of LE and a scare that I had mets. A chest xray, US, cat scan, pet scan and onco appointment all to reveal I had inflammation of the sternum- not mets.
My DH tells me not to say I'm sorry, too, but just feel so guilty. It doesn't help that I'm not working and haven't been able to find a job. I wish people would realize how much BC can financially impact your life, too. Sorry for all you are dealing with right now. I hope it helps that someone out there truly gets how you're feeling. (((hugs)))

My sympathy to those of you struggling with medical bills. Insurance can be such a PITA. I have Kaiser Permanente so I rarely have to pay a cent. Since being dx'ed, I have been very grateful.
