I wanted to share the work of this Seattle tattoo artist, Tina Bafaro.  www.bafaro.com/   She does amazing breast "shields" for survivors who choose not to reconstruct.  They are like tattooed bras that make you look like a superhero!!!  Really stunning.  Here is a sample of her work and an interview with her as well as another Seattle artist who tattoos scars:  http://dunthor.com/2012/07/31/tattoo-tuesday/

    I am pleased to see this beautiful work...I too have thought of getting a tattoo, but then it was suggested it could trigger Lymphedema, so I put the whole idea on hold.

    but it is beautiful.....anyone here decide to do this? I would love to hear personal experience....

    Hi LAstar,

    I had a bilateral in April 2012 and I wanted to know how long I need to wait until I can tattoo over the scars I had no reconstruction. Your tattoo looks great!!!!

    These are not my tattoos.  My sister-in-law told me about this Seattle tattoo artist when I was deciding my treatment path, and her husband had an amazing back piece done by her.  Had I chosen not to reconstruct, I would have gone this route.  I wanted to share her work on this forum, which I greatly appreciated when I was first determining my treatment path.  I would certainly discuss timing of the work and any possible risk of lymphedema with a doctor first.  I'd love to see your work one day if you are comfortable sharing!

    Tara, I believe I read that a scar should have at least a year to heal before you tattoo it. I could be off on that tho.

    gorgeous stuff. i just got a bmx and incisions are on the sides of my breasts. was thinking of having those tattooed.
