"I don't know what this could be."
So, I noticed about a week ago a red area of skin about the size of a tennis ball but the shape of an egg under the area of my right shoulder. There's no lump under the skin, and its kind of tender to touch but not like a buise would hurt to push on it. I have full range of motion in that arm and shoulder. The skin is not scaly or dry so I'm not thinking exema, and its not itchy. Its just wierd. So I called my onc. I was told to first see my primary. So, today I was seen and was told, "I don't know what this could be, your oncologist should see this." So, I'm waiting for the schedular to call from my onc. office. Has anybody had this? I'm 3 years out of my 2nd breast cancer journey. I'm BRCA2+, have had a double mastectomy and reconstruction, and my last tumor was triple negative, so I try to be aware of changes in my body. To the left of my left breast, its pretty tender and sore, but thats not too abnormal after one has had a tram flap reconstruction surgery. Any way, have any you fellow warriors experienced this?

This is going to sound weird, but lay down and see if the area drains and disappears or lightens. My LE started with weird red circles, although it was only my breast. My onco had never seen it before and had no idea what it was until I laid back on the examing table and it disappeared. That is how we figured out it was fluid retention from LE. The circles themself were not sore for me, but I generally was sore all over whenever my LE flared up. My LE has now gone away completely, as have the red circles.

Thank you, Lisa, I will give that a try. I read more about LE, after reading your post and found it really interesting. Isn't it amazing how are bodies are made to give out signals when something is not right? I hope this is what it is, and not my body telling me that the cancer has metastisized to another part of my body and this is the way its telling me. Thank you for taking the time to write. I hope you are doing well since your diagnosis. Its quite the journey isn't it?

OK, so I was called into my onc's office after seeing my pc, and evidently he can feel a small mass under the red skin area. He has ordered a US and biopsy if anything is found. He wants to rule out the possibility of a connection to the scapula or the bone that comes down from the shoulder. Or it may be an infection of some kind. He also said that it was good that I had called and pursued the appt. So, now I'm waiting until Monday, at 1:30, for US and possible biopsy, and then a few more days for results. The whole possibility of going through all this again is frightening, so I'm going to hang on to the idea of an infection.
