    Oh Damiana,

I hope you are feeling better for this evening.  I am glad you are going to have some time to rest.le.

I am glad you are going to have a chance to rest.  Did the doctor say what it was?  Is it neuropathy?  I get it in my fingers and toes- so I have been increasing the L-glutamine, which has helped a lot.  Are you swollen?  I had really bad swelling my last time (we are on the same chemo/herceptin) and I couldn't even bend my knees.  Did your oncologist say you could take anything?  I got the okay for Aleve and advil.  The tylenol just wasn't doing anything.  Maybe a nice warm bath?  I will be sending lots of positive energy your way.

I totally understand about Halloween.  I started crying this morning because I was so tired but didn't want my sickness to impact my children's holiday at all- which I know sounds silly, but it is how I feel.  I stayed up late finishing my daughter's costume, put on all of her make-up, and made them a nice breakfast and now I feel horrible but need to summon the strength to go into the world at 11 to watch the parade bringing her three year old brother who will not make it easy.  (hard to have control of him, especially in a Spiderman suit).  And then at 3 I have to go get my neulasta shot and more fluids, and then go trick or treating- unless I can't.

I hope all of us can have the strenght to do all of the things we want to with our families on Halloween.  Cancer sucks.  Chemo sucks too.  But we are all amazing.

Mariposa- that is one busy day. Can anyone help you later this evening?

No, it isn't neuropathy, and it isn't in my joints/knees- its my muscles, they even hurt right after a bath, and even in bed. I think I will try my glutamine powder today and see if it helps!

    Damiana,

Have you tried soaking in an Epsom salts bath?  Praying that you feel better.

Mariposa, I LOVED your blog! You are so brave, creative and talented! I too rearended someone after my first chemo. Luckily it was just a bumper "kiss" :) My reaction time is like slow motion right now. I have chemo on Friday so I should feel good enough to get through the day, but I don't. I'm super tired. I'm hoping my counts are ok. I am having a hard time missing out on the kids events, but it is getting harder and harder to go out. Good luck! Happy Halloween!

Still have chemo brain fog, so can't remember whom to address.

One week after 3 A/C.  Feel much better.  Am taking ginseng with oncologist enthusiastic permission.  Fatigue not so bad.  Still felt very bad and wrung out days 4,5,6.  Was on edge of tears day 6 and nothing to be sad about.  Chemo nurse told me last time that the chemo can do that to you.  Really bad taste in mouth last three days.  Couldn't drink gallon on water.

I so admire you young mothers.  How do you do it?  You are so brave--and going on.

You have been dealt a bad hand.  You do have so much to live for.  My daughter in law said her mother had a masectomy at about 55 and went through treatment--and she, d-i-l  barely noticed.  Anyway,  her mother is 75 now, like me.  She is a terrific woman whom I have gotten to know well as we both helped with premie twins when they got home from hospital.  She never mentioned her bout with bc.

We all have a lot to live for.  Hopefully the surgery, chemo, rads and all the other stuff we are enduring will extend the good times.  Hugs to all an no SE.

    Hello friends,

I am so grateful to have power again to go on the boards with all of you. Thank you all for the good wishes, we had no power from 9:30 Monday night until 6am this morning. We made do, had flashlights and transistor radios.  Last night we watched DVD's on my laptop until the battery fizzed.  It was ok, a little cold in the house.  We did have hot water to shower and cooking gas to use.  Monday my Drs. office called to cancel appt, of course understandable. I had to go for blood test and my wbc was low again. Mon and Tues went for neupogen shots and the good news, they came back and I had the third A/C infused today.  One more A/C and weekly taxol group here I come!  Hope all NY, NJ, and Ct are okay.

    Hello ladies,

I have been MIA these las couple of weeks. I think some of this has all been hurting me and I realized that I was just feeling down. Really need to pick myself up again and keep it moving. I have so much to be happy about. Well today I finished treatment number 6 of 8. I am really getting down to the wire. November 27 cannot get here fast enough. I too just finished my first round of Taxol over these last two weeks. Over all I think it was better than AC. No nausea at all. But boy did I have body aches days 3-5. I had to take The Vicodin I had left from my surgery as Tylenol did nothing. My MO gave me a new prescription. By day 6 the pain had gone away. I had more energy and my taste was much better than before. In general I fel that Taxol is more tolerable. Have any of you started experiencing hot flashes. Oh dear Lord they are hitting me bad. Especially at night. My gown is literally soaked. IDK if I am starting menopause or this is temporary, but I don't like it. Anyway, I hope you are all doing well and I will try to get get on more often. Really need to talk to others and shake myself out of this funk. Jojo I hope you have the same experience and your pains will go away real soon. Mine definitely did. Glad you survived Sandy unscathed. We did too. Good reminder that others too are suffering and to count our blessings.

Donna, so happy to hear from you! I agree Taxol is more tolerable but boy the aches are bad? Did you have any reactions? I didn't, was so thankful.

Cherioo, hoping for no reactions for you and no aches. Let us know how it goes.

@Jojo @Cheerio Thanks girlies!!! Yes Jojo the pain is real. Kept me in bed for three days. I had no adverse reactions though and it definitely got better. So far I haven't experienced any neuropathy. I hope I don't. Cheerio I definitely feel that Taxol is tolerable and better than AC in my opinion. Good luck and let us know how it goes.

    Morning everyone!

Wide awake and wired here at 4:30 a.m.!  @*%$! Damn steroids. Seems fundamentally wrong to be up before the kids.  Thinking about what constructive things I can do to use all this energy before the aches and pains set in over the weekend.  Any suggestions welcome!

Good to hear from you, Donna.

Damiana, I hope you feel better soon.  That sounds really nasty.  Sending you a gentle ((hug)).

Cindi, your posts are always so encouraging and supportive. Thanks for continuing to share your useful perspective.

Englis hRose, damn steroids indeed! Last night awake on and off with sweats and dry mouth and tonight slept one hour and now almost 0100 and wide awake. I did take 1/2 mg of Ativan so will see.

jojo and dona, glad to hear that Taxol may be easier - nice to have something to look foward to - LOL!

Halloween was super rainy here but we still had lots of trick or treaters. Fun to greet!

So maybe some reading and then hope for sleep.

Hope you all had a good halloween.  I had a great time and did a lot more walking than I thought I would be able to do- but I was sure exhausted when we got home!  My costume was quite a hit!

Damiana:  Yippee!  I am so glad that you were able to get out for Halloween!!!!  I know it was kind of tentative for both of us.  I managed as well.  I just don't want cancer to mess up my kids' experience of all of the fun things.  I know it will a little bit, but I am going to do my best to minimize it!  I had to stop a couple of times and just lean on a fence, but I did it!

I wore my pirate outfit and wig to my fluid infusion and neulasta shot and had a great time.  All of the nurses were dressed up, we laughed and more people talked to me than usual.  Maybe I should wear a funny outfit every time I get an infusion!

    Halloween 2012

My daughter is Adele:-)   Hope everyone has a great SE free day!

marianeliz - I start my chemo on November 20th - I wil be on dose dense ac and taxol - every two weeks. I will hopefully qualify for the neupogen shots which my oncologist has prescribed. Did you get a port put in? My onc doesn't usually do it, but said that I can if I want to - not quite sure what to do. Glad you are not having too many side effects so far. I am still so apprehensive about the whole thing.

Wow, Cindy74 - you are an inspiration. I must learn to be more positive about my approaching chemotherapy - but I am so scared of all the side effects. Are you taking Neupogen or Neulasta? I am a bit confused as to why some people get it and others don't.

Love the pics. You look great! Just had number 4 ac. Came home and straight to bed. Totally wiped!!! Not a good beginning. So glad it's my last before taxol. I was a pirate and handed out candy. So sad I couldn't help with the class party like I normally would. Just praying I can muster the strength to make it to my sons first 8 th grade basketball game next week. He's a starter and I'm so proud of him. It makes me cry when I think about not going. Got my smooth move tea this round and ginseng tea also. Hoping it helps out my poor tummy. Shot tomorrow. Last one! Thank God! Hang in there all. Praying for healing for all of us. So many special ladies here with so many that love us. We will conquer this! Xo
