Hello KLTB, KCB, Indigo, On Vacation, Lana and readers of this thread

I often read your posts but have been trying to reduce my adiction to this website and get on with the business of living without thinking about breast cancer everyday - still trying, however!

Good to hear we are all progressing through our treatment...I'm going all out to help prevent a recurrence via losing weight, following Food for Breast Cancer.com for an HER2+ diet and using paraben-free products.

    What about you?

    Best wishes

    Alice

Hi Alice: I keep saying I'm going to do better nutritionally and exercise more. Unfortunately, I'm spending long days in the office, eating things that are terrible for me, and never having time for exercise. But I swear I'm gonna do better Wink.

Hi ya'll - I'm really working on the diet, still need to amp up my exercise!  Good to have goals right?!

Visit with the MO today- I'm to order my mammogram in 3 weeks (boob still a bit warm from the rads) and order port removal whenever I want!  YAHOO!  SO ready to have that little sucker out!  Assuming all is good, i go back in 3 months, but not another mammogram for a year. That was a bit surprising to me.  I will get a physical exam each time and blood work.

Hope everyone is doing well and all ready for Halloween!

Hi Lovely ladies: yes, I am more conscious of certain things now, eatingright etc... I have generally eaten well before all this, but I guess what I'm more aware of now is trying to choose organic when possible, trying to have less white flour/white flour products...trying to apply this to all of us, the kids and the husband, without becoming a total no fun bore. As for exercise, well, I can't seem to find time, now that I'm back at work. During treatment, especially rads, I walked/ran or biked most days. But now mornings are dark, evenings are dark, i'm workIng, and the kids are busy... But I keep telling mysel it's really not optional, that I have to make time... But sacrifice what? Sleep? Still tired and needing lots of sleep...

Oh well. So I need to figure that out...

I figure things will fall into place as time goes on!  I am just now feeling almost normal again and I'm 2+ months out of treatment!

    Good Morning!

Checking in on everyone, I am almost 1 month out of treatment now. I go back to see my Drs in January for a checkup. And most importantly I am moving on with life. But I still stop in and read how everyone is doing.

Hi Lostinmo!  WOOHOO to being a month out!  I'm about 2 months out.  There are days that go by that I don't even think of it!  I think it helps having breaks from all the doctor's visits!

Hi Old Friends-- so glad to see familiar names pop up. Yes, I'm also trying to get back to a normal life without being at a doctor appointment almost every day. I use to be on this site sometimes three times a day. Now I'm lucky if I remember to check it once a week.

Four months PFC and my hair is really starting to come in now.

    Hope everyone is doing great!!!

Hi all - update on me, my "gray" area for rads got black and white after yet another consult with a RO who said "yes" so my reconstruction is on hold after one fill - and consequent let down of the opposite side so the rads would be more effective.  My PS was not happy but it's my life.  Cosmetic is secondary.  So here I am about to start rads on Tuesday to make sure we are done before the end of the year.  We will address the reconstruction process later.  TEs still uncomfortable as hell, regretting ever doing them :(

    Hello KTLB

I'm so pleased you are doing rads.

As my oncologist said, HER2+ trumps everything.

We are both doing everything we can and can feel proud.

    Best wishes

What a tough year we have had ladies !! So I hope all have a very Happy Thanksgiving and are enjoying their life. We celebrated our holiday on Saturday as my niece came in from Texas but had to leave before Monday. My sister from Virginia joined us. To say it was a special one is an understatement!!!!

Hello my march friends: yes, what a year... And I guess alot to be thankful for, though navigating the path to get to this point has been one tough slog. Couldn'thave asked for better company: much love to you all as you celebrate with your families. (we Canadians of course already did our thanksgiving last month!)

Hey ladies, hope everyone was able to enjoy their Thanksgiving! And a warm hello to my Canadian friends! My youngest has been home from college the past week, and it's been so great having both boys home. Ev helped me make apple pie and Jon helped me wash, stuff the turkey and put it in the oven. Made all our favorites and was told it was the best turkey and dinner ever!

I am 10 weeks PFC and 5 days PFR. The Taxo-tears are finally subsiding (yaaaay)! The steroid antibiotic drops seem to have helped. I have a followup appointment with the eye doc in a couple of days, but now I am much more confident that it won't be necessary to open my tear ducts. Also, my eyebrows are coming back for the third time, and I can see a few lashes now. And my hair is growing in quicker, and not so much gray. I can see my widow's peak again.

On the downside, while my nails are growing faster, they have loosened some more. One of my big toenails has lifted some, too. My left forefinger nail was the first to start lifting a couple of months ago, and it lifted more last week. I have polish on so can't see yet, but I am hoping it's separated no farther than halfway, and that it will grow out before it falls off.

My skin is pretty well crispy from the rads, too. I am putting silvadene at bedtime on the worst spot under my arm, and a combo of aquaphor, miaderm and regenecare on at other times. No open blisters, but lots of dry peeling, and the aquaphor makes my underarm feel wet all the time, which is kind of icky. But from hearing about the progress from other ladies, I know it is temporary and healing!

I am about 6 weeks into the Metformin trial. I hope it's the real deal because so far, I have not noticed any side effects.

I get a little reprieve from medical stuff after Wednesday and then back to the MO on 12/13, after which I imagine comes Tamoxifen. Hey, we do what we must!

Alice: you are so right! Actually maple syrup on just about anything....oh yes.

So, all my lovely march ladies, tomorrow I have a big surgery. Remember when after chemo #2 I got a ruptured bowel, and ended up in an emergency surgery and came out with a colostomy? WELL, tomorrow they will do a reversal. I can't believe it's time, it all seemed like such a huge sea of things to get through before the time would come... I hope that I will be a model patient this time, heal fast, get back onto food quickly, and home to my kids ASAP. I've been pretty keyed up(scared ****less) about this surgery, I have such a dark memory of the last one. But, it's the last step for me of a totally crazy surreal year.

Bla bla bla, all this to say how much you all mean to me, and how much I appreciate being able to share with you.

    Hugs all round.

Thanks ladies! It's all done. It's unbelievable really. Apparently went smoothly, and so here I am sipping my ice water and pretty nervous about introducing anything into "the system". But happy. I feel like Humpty Dumpty, only they COULD put me back together again.

KCB - congrats!!! So happy for you! What a long year for all of us.

FYI just an update as I was on Armidex for two months and started to have problems with feelings in my hands. Numbness started in the night and even started to get it during the day. Scheduled to Onc next week to see where we will go from here.

:((((( it never ends with this BC.
