    For anyone interested in an enlightening discussion about health care and what can be done to offer the best health care for the most people, I recommend reading Otis Brawley, MD 's How We Do Harm and Eric Topol, MD's The Creative Destruction of Medicine. IMHO, neither candidate has a cogent plan to offer the best health care for the most people. Articles like this one are merely divisive and inflammatory. The current system is broken and both physicians have visionary ways of fixing it. No one in government is addressing the important changes that need to occur. No one. And that is sad.

    My state has guaranteed acceptance for health plans.  It runs from $20,000/year for a crappy hmo for single to $60,000/year for the slightly better ppo for families.  There is only one carrier willing to write that policy in my state.  Blue Cross Blue Shield.  Very affordable...or not...  depending on your point of view, but certainly the reality the other states will face if the ACA is allowed to stay as is.

    All that "free" stuff is reflected in your premiums.

    I don't want the government being my health care carrier.. but if they open underwriting across state lines, throw in some minor tort reform, and a waiting period equivalent to the lesser of 1 year or the amount of time uninsured to prevent people from buying insurance in the ambulance on the way to the hospital, that could bring rates down.

    I agree it is scarey to think what wimm ghappen I think every one is entitled to health care something needs to be done
