I Need an Anti-depressant...Need Advice

Options

Hi Ladies...so I tried Prozac and Zoloft...both made me feel good but caused my lymphedema to worsen....really swelled me after just one dose becuase it clearly raised my blood pressure.  I can't tolerate coffee or even a brisk walk without swelling.  They say people adjust but my arms will be ruined if swell like that for a couple weeks.  I just can't do it.

Can anyone recommend an anti-depressant that doesn't rev you up?  I need something more mellow....

I'd really appreciate your advice.

Thanks,

Meg

I take Lexapro and love it.  I hope you find one that will help you without all the SE's.  Good luck!  Namaste'.

I just made the switch from Paxil to Effexor ... while ramping down on Paxil and up on Effexor was difficult, I'm now getting to the point where I'm feeling more like 'me' again. My dr started me out on 37.5 mg the 1st week and am now up to 75mg with the end goal of 150 mg. It's also hormonal therapy 'friendly' meaning it doesn't interfer like Paxil did with my Tamoxifen. Definintely worth asking about.

Are you seeing a psychiatrist? He/she would be your best resource, better than a family doctor who is not up on all the complex interactions with other conditions, cancer meds, etc. Good luck!

There is a new drug called Viibryd and it really helped me.  It starts working within the first week and no weight gain or sexual side effect.
