Trip to see Vinnie

Grt42btexan: Don't be afraid, just tell him. Or do what I did and show him Vinnie's website. My PS was so impressed he told me to see Vinnie. He flat out said he would bypass nipples and his tattoos and go with the 3d tattoos. So that's what I plan to do. My best friend and I will make a girls trip out of this. Now I need to call Vinnie and set the date. I bet you're super excited about your appointment in November!
-
I am going to try to make this a super fun trip. I have only heard wonderful things about Vinnie. Cannot wait to see the finished product. Who is your PS if you don't mind me asking. Mine is Dr. John Antonetti.
-
Hi I just got back from seeing him. He is nice, easy to talk to and he knows what he is doing. And he is CONFIDENT I felt comfortable there and he is professional. i Have never been to a tattoo place and I am pretty conservative....so I was a little bit hesitant. But, he is wonderful and makes your short stay there comfortable. Private message me if you still need suggestions on places to stay.
Thanks,
Vicki

Vicki...glad to hear your visit went well. Happy with the results? I'm going to be staying in Owings Mills which seems to be half way between Baltimore and his shop.
How was the driving around there? That's my biggest concern. Hate driving in big cities! -
My appointment with Vinnie is two weeks from today. Does anyone know what to expect in terms if healing time, instructions for care during the healing process? I know some who have general tattoos that are told to change a bandage often and reapply ointment and others were told not to bandage.
-
Well my appointment with Vinnie was yesterday, and I am absolutely thrilled with his work! My husband and I flew in to Baltimore late Wednesday night and then flew back to Charlotte last night after my appointment.
In creating my bilateral 3-D nipples and aerolas, Vinnie took plenty of time to draw the outlines and match the colors. He frequently explained what he was doing and asked my opinion before proceeding every step of the way. I know he does this every day with hundreds of women, but he made me feel like I was the most important client at that moment.
I was in shock with how wonderful they looked when he finished, but I was in tears before we got out of the county. I told my husband that this was the first time in three years that I felt I had normal breasts again and not just mounds of flesh with scars. I am sure I will have a few more tweaks with my PS, but I truly feel that I can now put this all behind me.

Meredith, I am so happy for you! My appointment is coming up, it's Oct 8th. I'm nervous but not about his ability and skills. I've,in some ways, finally started to feel like these things are a part of me now, almost my own. I'm sure once the tatts are done, I'll feel like that even more so.
I had a bit of a mental breakdown today I think because it's coming up on a year for me soon. I'm hoping once this last piece is complete I can completely move forward.
Again, I'm thrilled you are pleased with the results as I'm sure I will be. -
I am getting so excited especially with everyone on here confirming how wonderful he is. I am somewhat scared with the American Airlines situation and do not know whether to fly in early. I fly in at 9:30 to NOLA and have it done at 12 noon. I had Phase II done so I am just getting coloring but cannot wait to see what he does. I already feel so much better than before last surgery and cannot imagine how wonderful I will after this one. Feeling very lucky I found this site which lead me to Vinnie. I am very conservative and cannot believe that a year ago I would be excited about getting tattoos!
-
Meredith...can you tell us the follow up care? Did you feel well enough afterwards for fun? Any pain at all? How long were you there? Do they run on time?
Many thanks,
Kim

Kim,
Richie, Vinnie's very nice assistant met me at the door. I was about ten minutes early, and that was about how long it took for me to read and sign the release forms. Vinnie came out to greet me right on time (1:00), and I was as we Southerners like to say, "hugging his neck" goodbye around 2:40. He sort of let me set the pace. He would have spent much more time if I had any concerns.
Because I had a bilateral DIEP, I had no feeling at all when he was doing the tattoos. I could only feel some pressure, but nothing uncomfortable. I have no swelling or bleeding. Vinnie gave me some neosporin ointment and a bunch of non-stick sterile bandages. I am too reapply a thin coat of ointment several times a day and cover with bandages for a few days. Then I can expect some peeling like a sunburn. After the peeling ends, I can switch to cocoa butter lotion.
I felt elated afterwards, but no pain or discomfort. My husband and I went down to the inner harbor area of Baltimore and walked around and hate a late lunch/early supper. The Ravens were playing and traffic was starting to pick up, so we headed our rental car back to the airport.
The prior night, we stayed at The Hotel at Arundsel Preserve. It was about 4 miles from the airport. All of the hotels closer to the airport and casino did not get great reviews for one reason or another. I highly recommend The Hotel at Arundsel Preserve. Great location with good, local boutiques and restaurants.

Is there anyone going to see Vinnie in New Orleans in December? I have my appointment scheduled 12/11/12. Can't wait! I keep looking at the portfolio online and imagine that it is me!
-
Just got back from my appointment with Vinnie. I mean just got back, he finished up about and hour or so ago and I'm in my hotel room. Words alone can't say how much appreciation I have for the work he does. We are extremely fortunate to have someone with his talent and compassion.
His assistant Richie is great. Everyone at the shop was friendly yet professional. I was completely at ease and from the get go had no doubt that I made the right decision. The result is amazing. While he was working on one side I was facing a mirror and happened to look up at my reflection. I couldn't believe my eyes. I wanted to reach up and tweak my new nipple! Or at least what I though was one.
The entire process took a couple of hours, had bilateral done. I did have some discomfort but nothing that was horrible. I asked about that and he said everyone is different and the type of recon you have can affect what you feel. Still worth it in my book. The discomfort was nothing compared to the bmx.
I feel done with this process. Complete and whole again. These weren't the tattoos I always talked about getting, but I don't think there is another tattoo that could ever make me feel as whole as these do. -
Thanks so much for all the excellent responses. I am literally counting the days until I get to see Vinnie in November. I have a scar that goes away from my nipple to my armpit. Do you think he will do anything to minimize it? Did anyone get anything done in addition to the nipples?
-
Made my appointment with Vinnie today-I'm scheduled for January and I can't wait!
grt42btexan-check our Vinnies's website, he has lots of before/after pics. I have horizontal scars across both breasts and I'm thinking once the tatts are done, the scars will still be there, but less noticeable.
note-I will not be getting the shamrock aereola tattoo:

-
Yay spunky and grt42btexan! I didn't get the shamrocks either, lol. The pics on his website are right on. I was worried about my horizontal mx scars but they weren't a problem. Vinnie said they will fade and they already seem less noticeable with the new tatts.
Good luck, I know you won't be disappointed. -
I tell my PS that I will not be letting him do my tattoos tomorrow
Hopefully when I take pics of Vinnie's work he will understand. I shouldn't be so worried but for some dumb reason I am....
-
I was afraid too. I'm such a chicken I did it over the phone. But, he really didn't have a problem and was very ok with my decision. In fact, at one of our first appointments as he was explaining the entire process he said when it came to tattoos if I had someone I liked by all means....
It's your body, your decision. Their egos just need to suck it up and realize they aren't perfect at everything. -
Posted over on the other thread...so happy for you!!!
I showed my PS some pics from Vinnie's gallery and he had a really hard time believing that they were not nipple/areola reconstructions!
Then I asked if he did tattooing, and when he said yes, I asked if he could duplicate what Vinnie does. When he said no, I told him to start practicing now...
My plan is to go to Vinnie's eventually anyway.
-
I did it!!! Told my PS and he was totally cool and supportive about it! Asked if I already had my appointment ( I do) and when I was going. So excited. Stupid that I was so worried about it. On a sad note, my absolute favorite nurse that worked for him was gone today. She left for another job ( not sure what happened). She was so sweet and I will miss her everytime I go into the office.
-
Great to hear that grt42btexan. Can't wait to hear how you make out. I'm sure it will be fabulous!
-
Does anyone know if Vinnie uses medical grade ink? I'm still recovering from a horrible tattoo experience and am very nervous about trying this again. In fact, I'm having surgery on Friday to fix the problems caused by my last tattoo experience.
-
Not really sure but if you give him a call he can answer that for you and would be happy to answer your questions.
-
Hi,
Please let me know how you like Vinny, I live in WI and need to find someone. I get my nipples in 4 weeks, any regrets on nipples, I see some women just get the tatoo, ?
-
Hi,
I have horizontal scars both breasts as well and I'm four week about from my nipple surgery. Did you do nipples, any regrets? Getting nervous. I also want to see Vinny, so please post how you like it. I live in WI.
-
Dexter - I skipped nip recon and went right to 3D Vinnie tats. I'm thrilled with the results, and I don't regret skipping nip recon at all. I didn't want to deal with yet another surgery, and didn't want that "headlights on" issue all the time. But that's just me. I know other women like having that bit of projection back. Hopefully others who had nip recon will chime in.
-
dexter...like Nat I skipped nipple recon and went to 3D tatts. I didn't want the headlight thing either. My scars are horizontal and I have no feeling around them. Didn't want another surgery and didn't see the point to put something there I couldn't feel anyway.
Vinnie is great and the results are wonderful. I'm completely thrilled with the results and I smile every time I look at them. -
Does anyone know if Vinnie ever travels to Southern California to perform his services?
-
Vinnie isn't doing much travel anymore. He works out of his shop in MD and one week a month the Center for Restorative Breast Surgery in New Orleans.
There is info on his website vinniemyers.com I think it is.
-
I'm having technical issues...Vinnie is only working out of his shop in MD and in New Orleans one week a month at the Center for Restorative Breast Surgery. There is info on his website. I think it's vinniemyers.com.
-
I did not do nips-I spent 40 years covering them up, don't need them. I also heard they often flatten over time. I'm going to get my 3-D's from Vinnie in January.
