Ridergirl will be in your pocket........

Fuzzy you are so right. This place is so special to me. I feel the hugs and the love coming from each and everyone of you.....

Seems like such little things are such a chore to do now. I have to go out looking for some pants that will fit over my brace that I have on my stump(don't like that word but not sure what else to call it). First of all I have to get out of the house and into the car (pretty doable now), then into the wheelchair at the store. The isles at the stores are not big enough to get around very easily.. Just seems like a lot of work to me but I have to do it.... Lets hope I find something. I have tried looking online but it is to hard to tell if the pants will be big enough to go over the brace, so this is something I have to do in person... And I don't even really like shopping anyway....

Crog, I found some corduroy pants at K mart that had pretty wide legs. Inexpensive also. If that doesn't work, ask someone who sews to make you a couple of pairs. Elastic waist pants take almost no time to make.

Granny will ride with you for Rider

Veggy, the heaven of water running down your body HMMMMM.

Not saying that this is happening to you, yours was a medical reason not to shower. When I was feeling depressed I wouldn't shower. It's fairly classic,  but have improved progressively for months.

Everyone dealing with pain control, I will link to a thread I did some work on. GG I thinK? it was you taking codiene. Consider a different drug, Please.

Oxycodone is the word to describe the short acting form of the drug. Oxycontin is the form of the drug that is the long acting form of the drug, but it is oxycodone. More addicting than morphine. On this link there are some posters that described that you can't get addicted blah blah bblah. They site either national sources or personal anecdotal information. Any narcotic ,benzodiazapines, ultram can be additing (physical need/ habituating psychological dependence. BUT when we need them what do we do. Monitor use religiously. Keep a calendar with use marked.

Ginger your insurance co only supplies 4 pills at a time---this is not acceptable (read note a few posts down , then see if any of this applies..

Start at the supervisor at the insurance comapny and work up the chain of command. Also, ask that the Insurance company to assign a nurse navigator/advocate, who directly talks with youi about all your problems as needed and then intervenes with the insurance people . The first problem is your pain med. The doc has prescribed 60 pills. The insurance company has subverted a legally prescribed pain med script from a licensed doc. Report the to the controlling insurance regulator in the state. No chance to correct, make the complaint. That will give the insurance company Constructive Notice(put in writing) that you are serious. They don't straighten out, make a second complaint. The insurance company is interfering in your prescribed care by your doc, causing you mental distress. Your words tell this, this is not facilitating your management of your illness--it's making things worse----No reaction get a lawyer. Even if you have to go through county legal aid. You could even start with a lawyer, that writes the a "Demand Letter to Cease and Desist" interference in your care. HRMPF. I'll check legal info with DS the lawyer and be back. EDIT DS's response was more questions than answers, but said he would get back.

Thanks Wren and Granny. I actually went to JC Penny and found a pair of pants for 20.00. Didn't think that was to bad... I have a couple of pair that I can use with the brace, just wanted 1 or 2 more..... Good idea though to have someone make some pants... We don't have a K mart near us anymore. Wish we did... Once my leg heals and I get the prosthesis I won't need wide leg pants anymore...

SAS. Thanks for the hugs. I know this is a very caring group of people and I just need to learn to let go and let it all hang loose so to speak....... I have always been a consoler but never thought I needed it in return,,,,

Ginger--whay's the name of the drug? Kadian--It's the only drug taken once every 24 hrs. My pharmacy says it's very expensive. My source says that the insurance company can limit how much is dispensed when there is a high dollar value involved with a drug, but didn't mention what that limit was. My source said the doc can write a letter of medical necessity requesting more to be dispensed and send the letter to the insurance people that do Authorizations.

My opinion, if it is the cost , trying to get two weeks worth would be good. By limiting dispensing on high dollar drugs that may end up not being tolerated and then dc'd is good bussiness. My Aromasin, I just quit, the pharmacy took it back and will dispose of properly AND gave me a 90$ credit(my copay), I was delighted, their cost was several hundred $'s more.

I hated dispening high dollar drugs, the self fufilling fear of dropping or contaminating something. would send my anxiety level way high. First experience with a vial that was 3500$. Whew.

You need to have this work so it reduces your stress and works out to keeping costs down.

GG if codiene works for you, then it works. You could have a consultation over the phone with the pharmasict to dicuss the drugs your on. I have found this beneficial in the past. I know you've been adjusting and it hasn't been easy. When you call, ask for the Parmasict that can best be a Sherlock Holmes in figuiring out response to drugs.

DS checking to see if he can find anything.

The insurance co. should be able to give you a reason for why they are doing what they are doing. Didn't think of dollars when I wrote what I wrote above.

With everyone here having dogs, you will so understand. We love our furry babies, BUT the way I get my exercise. She wakes me in the morning to go out. I try to get all her needs met--food & water& treat. All day long just as I sit or cuddle down , she starts talking. Then "It's show me" , she leads me to whatever. The door , to bed, to the shower, to treat cupboard, to water bowl. Okay fix whatever. Sit or cuddle--then she's talking about her run. Up and down , down and up. I should be thankful and I am. Small insignificant thought---keeps the body moving. I just know all with big guys Like Danny Boy done to fuzzy's little one. would understand.

    Is Essa around?

Anyone on effexor --known to cause weight gain, I'm on Savella/milnapracin(SSNRI) and levoxyl(thyroid)--have lost 55 ilbs. Savella small dose 25 mg twice a day and levoxyl 25 mcg one a day.  Savella did oodles for my fibronyalgia , may be to slow for the depression. The normal range for thyroid meds have been changed to a smaller range.  This is recent.  Weight loss since Jan 09 till present--very slow , so it's staying off.

    Off to MH appointment.

Question group if an outsider came in and attacked anyone of us what would happen? Almost rhetorical, but just would like to hear what your response would be. Being graphic is good.

Rider...yea for a good day!! Honey, I'm With ya for the long haul!!

SAS...if anyone messed with one of us....here...in our safe place...lordly lordly....first, I'd deliver a sharp tongue lashing...a lot of WTF's and Who The Hell's....then, I'd call in the big guns...the Mods...you know big brother watches out for us and they understand our place. It would take an evil soul to enter here to simply aggravate my family. Oh no no no. Would not be tolerated.

CROG...you are such an inspiration to us all. Let us give back to you. We will listen to all that you need or want to say. I was always a giver too...its a tough transition...but a healthy one.

Veggy...aaaaahhhhhh....showers!!! WHOOT WHOOT! I'm in the same boat as SAS...depression is Weird like that I guess...didn't know it was normal though!

Ok. This is going to sound really dumb. My friend asked me to go out with her Saturday night for Halloween. I have always loved Halloween. Me and the girls threw parties every year. Well, their at college...so, I want to go as Cyndi Lauper. I'm afraid I'll cancel and wont go. Oh, I can find an excuse...or 10 of them if needed. I need a kick in the ass to get out the door.

Oh my baby puppy was such a good boy today. He went to protect me from our new neighbors and I found out That I've known them for years. He scared the crap outta him but it all worked out. Now he has their puppy to play with too!

Moms bloodwork is better...she's so weak and unstable. Its so hard to watch but such a blessing that she's been with us this long. She's been on dialysis for 13 years now...the average life span is about 10...crazy stuff.

DH is just sick over the loss of his equipment. Its a kick in the gut for sure.

I think I'm catching a cold...or I'm hungover from these painkillers...Hmmm...sounds like an excuse brewing already!

I have an appt with my PS on Wednesday. I sent him photos of my build a boob. Really a horrible looking thing...especially compared to the real one. There's no way I'll ever get close to that...

Oh! The Muppet Movie is on!! LOL Animal is my favorite!!! Curious if anyone else has a favorite....?

Rider glad first course done---keep those numbers up up up L&H&P's sassy

Veggy as always love your pics

Fuzzy---yes, not showering when there is no medical hinderance, not getting dressed on a rountine basis, not putting makeup on when previously used, not leaving the house when you can, not calling folks when it was a usual thing, isolating when not necessary--like a low immune state, changing rountine interests, saddness out of character, sleeping out of the ordinary--ordinary with chemo and aftermath. Unusual use of alcohol. Behavioral changes out of character. Staring at the ceiling for hours is my personal nemisis, did that for a year after DH died and then again when brain tumor started to grow. Not eating.

Badger made me aware that Sandy has changed course a we bit--IN florida locate Cape Canaveral---directly across from it. Now have to go into protect mode. But many have much in place since 2004. Me included. Creative , but boring storey about shutters. 90% up, just have to move to center. Tested in 2011 how long it would take me to do it by myself 6 1/2 hours. Tested in 2004 with DH and DS 45 minutes. Fixed that--I left many up--saved on energy expenses, others as above. Others located within 20 feet of window to be covered. Nothing need to be pulled from shed where they were previously stored. Self sufficient. Others have said they would help, but can't assume they'd be home.  First rule of thumb in prep---get the gas tank filled. Chlorine already on site. Backlogging(Hoarding) on paper products. But tomorrow will be a crazy day at the grocery. Would have shopped tonight--best, but learned to late. Always get comfort food, chocolate a must, mashed potatoes. Canned stuff that doesn't have to be cooked. Water is a toughy. Bottled can stay only so long, but will buy drinks that will last forever. Hurricane prep is at least plannable versus twisters. Positives and negatives

If someone came in here attacking my buds here, I'd report them. I might say something to the attacker, but in my experience, that just leads to everyone getting into the fight. And when that happens, I run for the hills. I don't need the stress.

GG -talk with you Pharm doc about the hx of codiene. it's fallen out of favor for more than 20 years. But certain drugs work for people-inexplicably well. Having a chat with a pharm doc with at least experience back to the seventies would be good. Otherwise your only going to get why it fell out of favor versus a good discussion. If you can't find one try Rennasaus. She's a member here, Dh is a pharm doc with an open mind. He doesn't like to get directly involved,so, you may run into a dead end. If you contact see if Renasaus remembers me, may help. We were on the Forum Hot flashes for quite awhile, but I left that forum last Sept 2011.

When I have seen someone being chastized by another poster I have responded with my opinion. I really don't think posters are called to police one another and tell others what to post. I don't like it one bit. We are a community not a police state here. That mty friends is my 3 AM opinion.

Shucks missed you--and insomnia folks went to bed----I guess I'll wander around until the morning posters start. The problem with all nighters is I get screwed up on the day. Listening to the Blues. Just said I so would have loved to live in the time blues was being born in Harlem in the early 1900's and then hit it's prime in the 20' and 30's and on.....I so much love, many things from those years. Art Deco. House of Bauhaus. The beginning of Moderism. It had sooo much style. If youngins had any idea that what they value as new today, is a reintroduction of styles and song that go back generations.

AND what about Brad Pitts advertisement for Chanel #5----OMG---gonna buy the stuff, just cuz. it is the most innovative add in so long. it makes me at least feel---may be I best keep the rest of the thought to myself.

SAS, We used to live in Houston, so did hurricane prep. Good luck with avoiding the necessity to use your supplies. Here, the big problem is earthquakes. They keep telling us to prepare, but where should you keep the food and stuff? If your house is destroyed, you won't have any of that. The animal shelter has plans to put up tent shelters for people's pets. The animal would get a collar and the owner a matching bracelet. When people had to evacuate for the forest fires, they used the rodeo arena for cattle, goats, and sheep. The vets and boarding facilities housed people's cats and dogs.

Wren we had 3 earthquakes when I was in Akron Ohio. The ironic funny thing about the last one was __I was on a committee for internal disaters, developing a interhospital plan for transshippment/division of patients to other facilities if a hospital was incapicitated for some reason. One morning, I said "We need an earthquake plan" Thinking I was going to meet resistance. Someone else replied "Yeah the one we had last night shook me up"

Please, if anyone hasn't heard of the Frankenstorm that is going to hit the northeast corridor, watch your weather. This is going to be very serious. Alert any that you think may not know. If you are in a flood zone area prepare to evacuate asap. at the direction of your Emergency Management Commanders. You may want to get out of area even if you are not told to evacuate, if so do it soon. You don't want to be trapped on highways the way people were with Katrina b/c they waited too long. Storm at latest viewing is to affect as far west as Ohio, but the brunt will be more coastal and into New Jersey

If evacuating take enough canned food that doesn't need to be cooked and can be eaten from a can. Utensils and CAN OPENER. Water for at least three days. Boots , winter clothing, Underwear for 1-2 weeks and clothing for a week, blankets, important papers, important pictures. Can use laudry baskets to pack stuff into--easy to carry and stack in vehicle, easy to retrieve stuff b/c it's visible through the sides. Take toilet paper. Flashlights and batteries. Tap lights. Garbage bags, Cash and credit cards, insurance info for vehichle and house. Cell phones and chargers. Phone and address book. Notify someone you are evacuating and where you intend to go. Count the kids and animals at every stop.

There likely is allot of activity with cleaning out grocery/hardware stores already for those that are going to "ride" it out. But if you are evacuating pack what you can and get moving, the farther from the storm path the easier it will be to buy stuff.

A piece of property isn't worth your life. This storm is being compared to the Perfect Storm of 1991.
