Hello ladies.

I typically only post on the Stage IV boards but I could certainly use some lymphdema-specific advice.

I raked some leaves today while wearing my sleeve and my arm is feeling very "Heavy/Achy" any advice is welcomed.

Oh and thank you in advance for your help :)

    Keepingon, hello and welcome!

But I'm really sorry about the reason that brings you here.Frown Flares are not only annoying, but they can wreak havoc emotionally as well. (Maybe chocolate would help with that part!Laughing)

Do try to rest your arm today, and keep it elevated as much as possible. Drink LOTS of water (helps dilute the lymph fluid and keep it moving) and pause throughout the day to do some deep abdominal breathing (stimulates the largest lymph vessel in our body). If you know self-MLD, do it an extra time today, remembering to be VERY SLOW and VERY, VERY GENTLE (hard to do when you're anxious to get that puppy reduced, doggone it!Yell). Occasionally raise your arm above your head and slowly pump your fist open and closed a few times.

Next time, try breaking up the raking with other activities that rest your arm and it should be less of a problem. (That's easy to say, hard to do--we just want to plow ahead and get the job done!Undecided)

Let us know how you're doing, and get well soon!
    Gentle hugs,
    Binney
