Hi everyone. This is the first time I have used such a forum, however in October 2011 I had  a biopsy which turned out to be DCIS HIGH GRADE AGGRESSIVE. A mastectomy was advised and performed in December 2011. All went well. While waiting for diagnosis I read all I could find on the web and this board was of great assistance. Thankyou. I have a question. I am due for a follow up mammogram for my remaining breast however my nipple has been quite itchy lately. Has anyone else had this and is it something to be concerned about.

I've had lot of breast issues over the years but an itchy nipple is not one of them.  So I can't speak from experience.  From what I've read, however, the most likely causes of an itchy nipple are irritation or skin dryness or an allergic reaction (have you changed detergents?).  Having an itchy nipple can be a sign of breast cancer but that's way down the list in terms of possible causes.  It's certainly something that you should mention to your doctor so that you can find out what's causing the itch, but at this point, I wouldn't be thinking "breast cancer".

Good luck and let us know how it goes.
