Cookie, I think everytime we go under anesthesia can do a number on us. I'm still not up to my A game with work from the long MX. Now I'm going back in for a 5 hour surgery on Tuesday, but since its cancer I can't put it off for another time.

Is anyone on Aromasin and getting blurred vision? Not sure if its that or the kidney cancer.

I've seen the blurred vision complaint with AIs. Haven't had that myself.  Wishing you a good outcome on your surgery Bogie.  So not fair.

Thanks Kam, tomorrow will suck I have to fast all day and night, not so good with that

I just don't know if the blurred vision is dangerous. My MO says the same old thing, take a break and try another A. Been there done that all that does is give me different or worse side affects. I can tolerate but I just don't want to risk my vision.

I will ask in the Aromasin thread :)

Above is a thread titled "Vision Deterioration & Aromasin"

Could it be just dry eyes??

My Onc is putting me on a 10 week break from femara until I see him in December. Wants to see if it stops the arthritic and numb hands and pain all night long. I can't wait to see if it gets rid of the "brain fog" too.

Bogie-I will be praying for you and your surgical team and sending you positive vibes on Tuesday.  I hope the eye problem is a short-term issue and clears up soon.

Hi shabby6485 - I think you've mistakenly found the December 2011 group. I looked and there doesn't seem to be a 2012 group yet for surgery in December.  I may be joining that Dec. 2012 surgery group myself depending on what we decide to do after seeing the PS this coming week.

Best to you and hopes for a smooth surgery.

BOGIE!!! Here's hoping for a successful surgery with an easy recovery and an improvement to your blurred vision! (is that too much to ask after all you've been through? I think not!)

    HUGS!!

Hi Ladies - been checking in and loving all the good news and praying for everyone still going through things.

I'm a little (very little) bit nervous and wanted to share and get some thoughts.  I started having some funky pain yesterday, kept saying "dang heart attack" jokingly to my husband because it was a quick stabbing pain right near my heart.  It hasn't gone away and last night while pressing in the area to see what it might be - thinking it was muscle pull - I found a small lump.  My husband was able to feel it too.  I'm not overly worried as I just had a Mammogram in September and it was clear and I just saw the Oncologist on Thursday.

My husband and I discussed it and he wants me at the doctor asap.  I said we give it a few days and see if the pain goes away and if the lump goes away - could be from hormones.  I figured I found my lump on Ocotber 27th and the doctors didn't do anything until November 11th and no surgery till December so waiting it out for awhile to see if it's nothing won't hurt.  I really don't be running to the doctor with every pain.

Kayce - if it were me I'd be in to see the doctor sooner than later. Hopefully it's nothing, but better to get it checked out sooner than later. At least make the call today and bring the doc in the loop and let the doc decide if you should come in asap or not.

    I truly hope it's nothing!

Kayce...have to agree with Cookie and spunky. I'd get it checked out.

It brings up a question that's been on my mind lately. My situation is a little different as I'm not on Tamoxifen and didn't have rads or chemo but....at what point do we just blow off the new aches and pains that we feel, if ever? This dreaded beast has just changed my whole mindset and even though my doc said there was no reason to think I wasn't 'cured', I know that's not necessarily the case. I don't want to be a nelly but I don't want to ignore something that could more than just a normal ache or pain related to age, exercise, etc. Does this make sense? I don't want to be complacent but don't want to go overboard either. I guess I'm just worried that other than my yearly visits with my pcp and my once a year with my BS I have no other followup. Makes me a bit nervous at times.

Thinking of you today Bogie. Be well all.

My new philosophy is if I have aches or pains that last several weeks I will let the dr know. But with a lump I would immediately call and ask to be seen. That is what I did when I found one last February. BS ordered ultrasound which showed it was a lymphocele (sac of lymph fluid) I did not spend time getting stressed over nothing and it all turned out fine. Dr said coming in was the right thing to do. Best of luck to you!

I'm home from surgery with two out of three drains with me and 8 incisions. The partial robotic kidney cancer removal had 6 small incisions and I had the plastic surgeon there remove both tissue expanders that ruptured. If I had not pushed and advocated for myself this would have never been found, Always listen to your body and get scans done. Chris do not wait if you feel a lump, probably a cyst that will need to be drained but do not push it off, it's their jub to do that after a clear diagnosis.

I was in a lot of abdominal pain and lower back pain, it felt like labor pains! Praying for a good pathology report next week. Doc was superb I was under a long time because my colon was wrapped all around my kidney. The nursing staff not so great in the city for some reason.

So I'm doing ok, and back to lifetime movies, soreness and trying to recover.

Bogie - so good to hear from you.  Sending you hugs and blessings.  We all hope you have a good path report, to be sure!  How weird, your intestine wrapped around your kidney?  How unusual is that?  xxo kam

Bogie-thanks so much for updating us.  Continued prayers for a full and speedy recovery.  Enjoy your lifetime movies (hopefully no reruns) and get a lot of rest. Sorry to hear about the nurses-their quality tends to be hit or miss - I've had surgeries at Rush and Loyola and both had some wonderful and some less than average nurses.

    Thanks all :)

Spunky this was at University of Chicago. What bothered me was when they wheeled me up after surgery 4 staff members stood there and made me move myself from the gurney to the bed...hello...I just got cut open in my abdomen and chest. What happened to moving you with the sheet method? Doctors are top notch there though!! So my choice was top surgeon.

Bogie- glad you are home and hoping for great pathology results.

When you feel up to it can you explain what led up to you pushing to have the expanders removed? How did you know they were leaking?
