    (((Gina))) and (((Donna)))

I hope life settles down for you both.

We finally get up nerve to adopt 2 dogs last week from the pound.  DH needs company at home since he is home all day.  Still dealing with lots of medical with him.  Mine has settled down quite a bit.

HI Girls. Sorry I took so long to get back to you. Surgery went wel lon Monday. They took only the right lobe of my thyroid out. I am still sore and bruised. My throat is twice the size. They say that will go down. I go back on Wed. the 3rd so maybe I will fine out results. I had my 4th shot of Prolia on Friday for the bones. Have to get a bones desity test and they put me on zanax for anxiety. At night I feel like I have butterflies in my stomach and that I need to urinate. My mind is in oh so many places when my head hits the pillow. Maybe this will work. I will let you know results of pathology. I hope everyone has had a good weekend and I am praying for you.

I'm not on Facebook, so kind of out of the loop with the sisters who keep in touch there.... soooo, just wondering if anyone has heard how Kat is doing.

Think of you all, always wishing, praying, sending good thoughts.  Haven't been on here awhile, keeping busy trying (still) to get caught up with stuff that went by the wayside 'during'.

Hi Girls! Just poping in. I recieved my result today about my thyroid. Yes I do have thyroid cancer. So now they have to go back in and retrieve the other side. Lucky Me. One thing they are saying is that it is not because I had BC. It doesn't have to do anything with that.  They could tell me that all they want but cancer is cancer. Now I have two. Sorry for venting. I really am sorry. Love you guys for being there. Will keep you posted.

I am so sorry.  Have they given you any idea what your treatment will be?  How soon will you be having more surgery?

You will be in my thoughts and prayers.

Hi wonderful ladies!  I haven't been on here since May probably?  I'm glad some of us are still checking in.  I'm on Facebook all day long, but I know some of you aren't.

Nothing much medical going on in my life.  Except this lingering mouth crap-my mouth has never been the same since chemo.  And 2 years later, I finally went to an ENT about it.  He said I wasn't producing enough saliva, put me on something, and the burning has gone away.  Thank God.  It was terrible.  Now if I can just get the tip of my tongue to cooperate.  It feels like I've burned it on coffee 24/7.  Damn cancer!  Lol

Hello all.  Haven't been checking in much, as thankfully getting absorbed in life.  Has anyone heard how Kat is doing??  I do think of you all & ache for those who still struggle with issues cropping up.  When we were getting ready for our trip to Arizona for the winter my DH commented ' you weren't able to do that last year' as I was helping him load our little freezer full of venison.  Those little moments are a good ruler for awareness things are getting better.

My biggest change is entering a new level of the tech world.  Got a smart phone.  OMG.... some agency out there must have been considering confiscating the thing.  Even worse was getting one for DH.  His first day using it he was fishing early - it was foggy, and when I called him he didn't answer.  He said he was reading & suddenly heard a duck really close by.  Kept looking for it, stood up in the boat glancing about... no duck.  Then he noticed his phone showed a missed call.  duh...  he hadn't like the default ringer so I changed it to duck.  He had forgotten that.

Not admitting to my blunders aplenty with the new devise.  Still haven't had the courage to Facebook....  so this is it for keeping up with you all.

    Ta Ta all for now

Lola,  your husband's smartphone adventures made me smile.  My DH received one from his work, and he is constantly going to our kids trying to figure out how to do something.

Kat is doing great, she has had amazing results using protocel.

When/if you venture onto Facebook, let one of us know.   We will add you to our Team January group.  It is a closed group, no one can see our posts, and can only join if one of us lets them in.  It is a fast way for all of us to keep in touch.  Even if you don't want to get 'into' FB, you can make a profile and join our group and you wouldnt have to bother with the rest of FB.

Paula, how are you doing ?

    Love ya Team,

    Sally

Hello dear friends: Glad to see some are still out there checking this thread since we don't all Facebook (me included).  I had a scare a month ago and "flunked" my labs.  Had to do bone scans and CT scans (not fun) over 2 day period.  They were ok but they don't know why labs were bad yet.  I'm on a shorter leash with oncology though next round.  DH has had his share of health issues going on so I don't want to deal with anything else again on my side.  I hope you all have a wonderful and safe holiday as our "anniversary" is coming up before we know it.

Hello all. I'm new to the site and am having a mastectomy with inmediate reconstruction January 8th. Just trying to find some peace and insight on what I'm in for. I don't have all the info, but I'm stage II a (haven't had MRI yet), grade 2 or 3, est/pro +, no nodes involved. Hoping to have an straight forward surgery and clean margins. But I am freaking out a bit. I've never had surgery before and I have a newborn to take care of. Just wondering how anyone felt after surgery? How soon you started chemo? Anyone get implants?

Mirmirpanda - welcome to BCO, although I'm sorry for the reason.  The ladies on this thread all had mastectomies in January 2010.  We aren't the most active thread, and although someone may get around to answering your questions, I imagine that you can get answers faster on some of the other threads.  You will definitely need help with your newborn, as a mastectomy and TEs, etc make it more difficult to lift.  Good luck with everything.

Wow, I was surprised to see this thread pop up from 3 years ago. I'm Susie, Jan 21st BMX listed in the initial post. I'm not on BCO very often, mostly around our anniversary time tend to come back. It's good to see so many still doing well 3 years later. I'm doing good too. Left my job last year to be able to pursue the dream of staying home with my kids. Life is so much better today than 3 years ago. Cancer was the worst thing to happen to me, but also a much needed wake up call to live, not just exist. :)

How wonderful Susie!  I was very blessed to be able to be home with my kids when they were very young.  Medical issues definitely help you realize priorities in life.  Best to you!

    Greetings Team January,

It's Marianne and I know that I have been absent for a long time.  Reporting in:  alive and well.  Moved from Tennessee back home to Syracuse New York!  Just love the higher taxes and colder weather.  I have a facebook page so if someone wants to let me know how to communicate with all of you on FB, let me know.  Would love to reconnect and hear how you are all doing.  Trying to assemble a new medical team in a different state has been a challenge, but it is good to be home with family and friends and my old primary care doc and gyn.  New oncologist is a gem and found a wonderful breast surgeon.  Having issues with med's (hated Arimidex, Femara and now hate Tamoxifen!!)  Having some eye issues and wondering about the correlation with tamox.  Looking back on my BC journey, the worst for me has been the psychological side of this trip.  Happy to report that DH and I are together and happier than we have ever been.  No one is more shocked at that than I am!  I thought we were done.  Realize now (after a lot of counseling) that he is not me and he doesn't handle situations like me and that doesn't make him a bad person....he couldn't meet my expectations and become the perfect breast cancer husband.  He's not even the perfect husband, but he is my husband and he does love me the only way he knows how.  He ran from the breast cancer stuff and stuck his head in the sand......because he wasn't capable of anything else.  I, of course, resented the fact that I had to care for and worry about him through my own challenges.  Truth be told, it was the first time I became self-absorbed because, as you all know, I had to.  A lot of lessons learned along this journey.  Hope you are all well and happy ..... hope to be in touch with some of you on FB soon.

    Marianne
