Can you have cold for port removal?

I have been trying to contact my surgeon's office this morning, but apparently they are having phone problems. I have my port removal scheduled for next week in the hospital OR. I came down with laryngitis earlier this week which has now become more of a cold. (No fever, but coughing, congestion, ear and sinus pressure, and feeling blah.) I remember the instructions for the port placement said to contact your surgeon if you had cold symptoms the week before the placement. Does anyone know if this is true for the removal as well? I was under the assumption that the removal is an easy procedure, so I am hoping it won't matter if I am sick. Just would like to be able to give the babysitter and my hubby some notice if the removal will be rescheduled b/c of the cold.

My port removal took 15 minutes at most. My surgeon just used local anesthesia in his office - much easier procedure than the port placement. I don't see why you couldn't have it done with a cold, as long as you're not coughing or sneezing constantly.
