    THX comingtoterms.

I did not have the ki-67. Weeks after my LX , I called and insisted the test be done.

I will call my onc soon, but not just yet- going away for  a few days and hoping to put the BC on the back burner ( HA!)

Great news! This topic is on the slate for the San Antonio Conference this year! Unfortunately, it doesn't look like good news in terms of DFS. Cry

Interesting article - they note that using tamoxifen protects from returning menstruation:

"Multivariate analysis showed that lack of
    tamoxifen use (hazard ratio 0.4, 95% CI 0.3-0.5, P < 0.001) and
    age <=35 years (hazard ratio 9.5, 95% CI 6.1-14.7, P < 0.001)
were the most important factors for persistent menstrual cycles
(supplemental Table S1 is available at Annals of Oncology
    online)"

Thanks for that article, Omaz - My periods increased in heaviness while I was on Tamoxifen - it was one reason among many, that I stopped. Tammy

    Hi Tammy

I've been asking around here about experiences with ooph. I'm 40 with very high ER/PR+ and tamoxifen has not been my friend, emotionally and with VERY heavy period. I think I should o the ooph because I cant take the tamox. Hoping it goes well...

Comingtoterms, quite frankly, I think you should seriously consider the ooph.

    What about endometrial ablation?

Has anyone asked their GYN about it ?
I am not on tamox. but i had an endo ablation many yrs ago, and it was a pc of cake and all periods stopped.  Aaaah!

What do the DRS say about using that to prevent endometrial problems caused by tamox ?  I hope this helps someone ...possibly ask your dr ?

Hi Purple, I think the problem w ablation is that it does stop the heavy periods but it doesn't lower your estrogen production. That makes it kind of like a band aid - it helps the SEs of Tamoxifen, but doesn't deal w the real problem.  Tammy

I recently spoke with my breast surgeon about removing my ovaries and having a hx.  I have a consulation scheduled this month to discuss both with my gyn.  If removing the estrogen/hormone producing entities in my body reduce reoccurence risk by any % I am all for it.  I have been in chemo pause since july 2011.  My mom and sister both went through menopause at age 40, I am going to be 42 in janaury so it would have happened anyway.  I will stay on any meds they throw at me and get any surgery that will help.  I also juice veggies and have quit smoking and drinking and exercise a lot more so hopefully the combination of everything will keep me alive longer.

I see , comingtoterms.  Makes sense I guess.

I still would think somebody on tamox would at least ask their GYN about it !

ckgrayoh,  my MO's nurse said that removing ovaries would reduce my risk of recurrence by about 40%. My MO also said if I were post-meno now, my risk would be about 1/3 lower than it is now. (I'm highly ER+) This might vary by patient and prognosis, but FYI.
