I am on the other side of the river in No. Virginia so not sure how far you want to travel. Distance isn't bad, it is the traffic. But if you are interested let me know...

Beach ... do a search on here for Enjoyful or HappyLibby. They are both in your area and may have some recommendations for you. You can send them a PM and ask them about their doctors.

Dr. Nancy Markus in Shady Grove. I have her card here. 9715 Medical Center Drive, Suite 327, Rockville, MD 20850, phone: 301-251-7791. I ended up going with a breast surgeon affiliated with Johns Hopkins for a number of reasons. But Dr. Markus was the first surgeon I saw, and I was very impressed with her. Great communication skills and strong and dextrous hands. You'll notice it right away when she conducts your breast exam. She discovered a lump in my other breast that nobody else found, and she did it merely by palpitation. Then she did an ultrasound, and there it was. My current breast surgeon had trouble finding it even with ultrasound. Unfortunately Dr. Markus does not have great support staff. But I would definitely trust her to cut me open.

Dr. Elizabeth Feldman at Georgetown. I've been very happy with my entire team there.
-
Dr. Christine Teal at George Washington University Hospital
Dr. Stephanie Akbar at Virginia Hospital Center
Both listed in Washingtonian Top Docs issue -
Dr. Hernan Vargas, Fair Oaks, VA
However, if you are just starting treatment I think you should ask about comprehensive cancer centers in DC or Johns Hopkins. You will get more coordinated treatment and the benefit of more communication between docs during your care.

Hi, any update where you finally decided to go? We live in DC and my sister who is pregnant is told she has cancer and she is about to do biopsy second time. Could any one share information about a doctor who may have dealt with such situaiton.
Thank you.

Beachmd - Georgetown is a NCI designated cancer center with several oncologists who specialize in patient's with breast cancer. I am sure that they have experience treating pregnant women with breast cancer. Dr. Claudine Issacs is amazing. I imagine her colleagues are too. I hope that your sister is able to come up with a plan soon.
