Last few days R breast pain, hurts to touch it...

I had a lumpectomy in right breast, and recently had several weeks of breast feeling sore when touched, then it went away. However, I realized that at about the end of that period, I had the feeling that I had a bit of lymphedema in my right arm. Don't know if those two issues were related....

Trail - It's really normal to feel pain in and around the lumpectomy and SLN sites.  It will come and go for months.  As you heal and lose numbness, pain may pop up in those areas now because the numbness is gone. So soon after surgery, it's very, very unlikely that it is cancer returning.  I'm a year out from surgery and have rogue pain from time to time, but don't we all have and have had this in our breasts most of our lives?    An exam of my breast scar always causes some pain.  

A general rule of thumb is that anything lasting 2 weeks should be taken to one of your doctors.  Do read up on lymphedema though.  If you suspect this, call the doc or nurse right away to get an appointment.  Best to treat this earlier than later.

Hi Sandra!  I think its a bit odd that you are having a lot of pain in the one breast. And you said you know what the pain with the period feels like.  I once had mastitis in one of my breasts (can't remember which one though).  The pain was excruciating, the breast got hard and red and I could barely touch it without pain.  I believe that this is also what inflammatory breast cancer feels like (the situation and pain I was having).  But mine started to get better with antiobiotics. I was also nursing at the time so this made sense. Is this how your breast feels?  I would get it checked out.  This way, they can give you antibiotics if it is an infection and you will see if it feels better.  My breast immediately felt better. I think you are worried about IBC. I have worried about this as well. Wait a couple of days and then call if the pain isn't going away, that is what I would recommend. I hope you feel better!
