bearcub... I have another 22 nukes to go.. I did use the saline compress this afternoon and it does sooth it... then glaxal afterwards. Maybe I am going down with something... I hope so cos if not its going to be a long 5 weeks
Still I have a quiet weekend which I will be grateful for. Love your avatar by the way.

May also be payback... me pinking up already... for being so blase about rads. I mean I have olive skin, I've never had sunburn so why would I get burnt from rads - thats what I was thinking. Plus if chemo couldn't knock me down... rads - huh !! Well perhaps they are saying "take that sister"
-
I did #8 today. Half a dozen more X-rays, more adjustments.
My LX incision scar and the tissue underneath have been sensitive and achey today. It's kind of frightening, as the tumor was painful, so that's all I can think of when I have breast pain. Advil didn't help. Oh well, what can you do. It freaks me out to touch that area, already, feeling the scar tissue under the incision scar. I've been doing scar massage in hopes that it will help, but I'm sure soon enough I won't want to massage much there. My skin seems a bit sensitive, but hopefully two days off will help.
I felt sensitive already last Friday, but a liberal application of Ultra Repair Cream after my Friday night shower got rid of that, and it took until today to come back again.
I'm now using Aloe Plus gel right after rads, Dream Cream after I shower, and Ultra Repair Cream right before bed.
It's so weird when I go in for my appointments. The nurses all seem to want to chat, but I'm really not into small talk. I wonder if they get tired of asking people what the weather is like? -
jpMomof3 - so happy it was nothing to worry about.
I just finished rad treatment #10 of 20; I am half way there! My breast swelled and had shooting pains one night, but one day later, it was back to normal. I have red bumps across the top of my breast and under my breast and it is pink, but nothing painful, nothing oozing. I think my skin is doing fine. Unfortunately, the radiation treatments have aggravated my migraines. Week #1, no problem, boom-Week#2, I've had horrendous migraines constantly all week long except Tuesday and Today. It makes it tough to work! But, I am half way there with decent skin, so I am content.

Hi all!
Did 14 out of 33 this morning.
Saw RO last Tuesday, looking good.
Did X-ray last wed.
Got my #3 herceptin yesterday out of 12 (every three weeks for a year)
Jeannie57, congrats !!! How are you feeling now? New journey now?
Xtina, thanks! I recovered my colds rather quickly than I usually do in past!? Don't know how? Lol my RO said he would prescribe me antibotic if I felt bad longer but I got better all of sudden!? Hmmmm. Maybe it was from the rads?? Lol
Patti3796, my RO did told me not to take vitamins E and C during my rads treatments. But is ok with my usual vitamins b6, b12, and biotin.
Andrea623, I know! I noticed everyone's RO gives different instructions, etc. as same for MOs, when I was in thread about chemos I see them who have same BC as mine such as er+, pr-, her2+. Yet they got different treatments than me. But I'm happy and satisfied with my MO decision with my treatments.
Tazzy, I had headaches right after radiations at the beginning of treatments same for mild nausea but that seemed to be stopped this week. I guess I got used to it? But I hope you are feeling better !!!
I got a little pink and some tan combination on my rad skin. But no pain no itching nothing as of yet. Still using aloe Vera after rad and before bed. My RO said only use dove unscented for wash also Aluminum-free deodorant. RO said use nothing prior to rads but put aloe and deodorant after rads. No shaving underarm during rad treatments until done.
Think I should get dream cream? Or just follow my RO orders to use aloe Vera only?
My cousin is having a slumber party tomorrow night for ladies only! It going to be fun!! I mean why not! We are not getting any younger but we can have fun!
Hope everyone is having little or no SE!
Hugs for everyone xoxoox -
Ladyfighter, I would say that if your skin is doing fine, you should stick with what you're doing.
I'm using Dream Cream because I already had a jar of it.
My RO is fine with me taking my regular multivitamin +iron, B12, B6, and D2. She looked over my list and said I was fine. She didn't tell me to avoid C and D, but I think she just went off what I told her I was taking and assumed (correctly) that I wouldn't add anything new. -
NSJ2.....No, they never did an ultrasound or MRI when I was diagnosed the first time last year. They didn't even do it on the affected breast at that time. The only reason they did the MRI on the right breast this time was because I insisted on it. BTW......I only have 2 more rads to go and I will be done! I will then restart my Tamoxifen.
-
Thanks RN4babies. Again, I'm so sorry for your new diagnosis. Effin sucks. Good news is you're almost done with Rads. Great job!
I was also wondering if they did a Mammo on your right breast back in 2011 when they diagnosed your left breast with DCIS. And if so, do you know if the Mammo was analogue or digital technology?
-
It was digital. They reviewed the mammos and said there was nothing there but my MO said she thinks it was there all along.
-
dr4babies--I was so sorry to read your post. I discovered my lump, then had a mammo and ultrasound..then after the biopsy, my BS said that she wanted an MRI and it was there that they discovered a small cluster of abnormal cells, which could potentially be hiding cancer or eventually turn into cancer. So, the lump and cells were removed. My BS still thinks that a mammo and dr. exam is the gold standard. I don't I'm only going for the MRI. As long as my Dr. orders it, my insurance will pay. If they had done the MRI first, I would have only had to go in for one biopsy session. The most pain I have had was from the mammo and the dr. doing the ultrasound, pressing so hard that I wanted to scream! Really sorry you have to go through this all over again.
-
My diagnosis was via mammo and ultrasound. I had an MRI after my biopsy, and it did both breasts at the same time. I'm hoping I can avoid too many future MRIs, though. My out-of-pocket on those is $1000, and I can't afford that. (Mammo+ultrasound is fully covered, though.)

Hello ladies,
I am new to these boards...just started following last week. I started radiation treatment on 9/6, after completing chemo in May and BMX with TE in July. A little over halfway through (18/28) my RO suspended my treatment for a few days in order for my body to heal a bit from radiation burn. At that time is when I found out that I was receiving what I now know to be "boosts" in order to prevent the cancer from returning as skin cancer. She discontinued that and prescribed Silver Sulfadine cream and since then things are better. I will have my last treatment on Thursday. Since I plan to continue following I just want to wish everyone good luck and blessings on this journey as SURVIVORS!
@Jeannie57...after seeing your posts here and on the DIEP 2012 thread I noticed that your stage in the reconstruction process is similar to mine so if you don't mind I may be asking you a few questions. Take care. -
yesterday was my last tx!!! i am so excited to be done with active tx!!!
-
Celebrate Margo (also my beloved mom's name)...and congrats neighbor!! I am from the other side of Cleveland... Happy dance for you! I look forward to that day just a few weeks from now. Do you start on an AI next? How is your skin doing? I am starting to get a little rash on chest and pink patches on the loobed boob.

Congratulations, Lumpynme! Go out and celebrate!
-
Congrats, Lumpynme!
-
Nice job, Lumpynme! I will be there in six more txs! What a relief that must be!
-
aruba; i have had a pink spot above the tx boob for awhile- where the rads "sttled" from having my arm in the air! my poor lil nipple is not so tender anymore so i can wear a bra again! i'm still lubing and feeling great!
now- what is your mom's FULL name? mine is marguerite....
oh-not sure i ever answered about where i am in ohio- lorain is west of rocky river/avon lake but east of cedar point!
-
Lumpynme.. glad to hear that the SE's from rads are settling down so quickly for you. My mom's full name: Margot. I know just where Lorain is...drove by yest that area on way home from Toledo. I live in Solon.
-
Aruba--Toledo, my old stomping ground for 4 years! Moved up to MI from there to help out my parents.
Cottontail--you posted how you were feeling a day or two ago..thanks..we are a day apart on rads and I was feeling everything you were--sometimes I think some of how I feel is due to the other stress in my life, but your post made me feel better (I know that sounds weird!!!).
-
Hi everyone....ahh, Benadryl, the drug of the gods, lol! My fav to take to go to sleep at night. Well, guess what, I lost my oncologist! He moved on to another practice without telling anyone! I was really nervous, but have since met the new doc, and absolutely love him. I started out a question with " so tell me your view on my cancer", and he replied, "you don't have cancer"...... Done deal, I love him! He calmed all my fears for the time being....
Getting my Herceptin tomorrow, then last week of rads.....under the t.e. and under my arm is where I hurt the worst.......angry red, but no blisters or breakage. So sitting around being a hermit this weekend, babying the skin, and dealing with a cold! Hope everyone is doing well this beautiful Sunday, thank you all for being great Internet friends ! -
Yes, this forum is a great resource and I am grateful to all who post here.
I am getting so antsy to get started on rads! I had my education session with a rads nurse and CT scan/marking up last Monday and I am looking for some good luck charm to place on my cell phone to cause it to ring early tomorrow with the call to start....
-
Well, I sailed through 25 treatments, ending last Wednesday, but my skin kept cooking. They warned me! I am now in a lot of pain with blistering skin where a week ago I was fine, just a little redness with a little itching. I am so surprised! Everyone is different and I hope the best for all of you, but be forewarned. I used Miaderm and Aloe Vera all the way through. Calling the RO tomorrow!
-
Congrats Lumpynme!!
I hope your skin calms down Jeannie!
-
I have 6 more treatments to go (including today). I am a little worried, the noob is a little more red than it was last week (no blisters or peeling or anything like that) but it is sore and today I have like shooting nipple pains, the nipple is the most sore too.
I just hope the skin hangs in there - nervous!
-
Last rad today!! The machine broke twice during treatment, but, finally got it done.
Got a certificate of bravery.
May the healing begin. -
nkb.... woo hoo - what a feeling that must be
-
nkb--I echo Tazzy's happy dance!!!
You think men get these certificates when they are done with radiation?!?!?
-
nkb..sooo happy for you!!! Go celebrate! I can't wait for the day! In the meantime now on day 19 here and the redness is starting to come on...a bit on top but mostly in the crease below. As I stated on other thread, trying to figure out a way to give myself a boob lift to let air get the underneath side. Being a bit more well endowed sometimes can be a pain literally! Am loobing the boob with Aloe, radiagel and calnedula and started well before rads began. Am a bit worried how this will be in another 2 weeks as I know the cooking continues beyond the last rad. Never been so excited for Halloween as this year as it should be last treatment!! Xtina, we need to get the podium ready as nkb is there and others-like you-- will soon join! Hang in there!

Aruba: try saline compresses - my rad techs told me and I am only on #7 and doing it already.. just in case. Boil 1 litre water, put water into a bowl and add 1 & a half to 2 tsps of salt. Let water cool to room temp, get a soft face flannel or similar and soak in the saline solution. Put on boob/chest for 10-15 minutes, resoaking if necessary. My chest area was a little red on Friday so I did that and the tech said today how good my skin looked. Still loob the boob as you are.
