I am satisfied with my breast surgeon but I want to make sure i am getting the most up to date chemo drugs and clinical knowlege available. So do i have to go interview medical oncologist ?

When i finally find the doc that I like and a certain treatment set up can it be transferred to a facilities closer to home. I sure hope someone answers cause this is really bothering me. Thanks.

Hi beach md I went to 2 onc when dx and i have to say my family was pushing for the big cancer center (sloan) but i was thinking closer to home however i was wrong the big centers have the latest info and the local onc was going to do different chemo treatment-try to go with the larger cancer centers even if you can get the treatment closer to home. 4 years ago this month i was dx i must say my life and attitude has done a 360. Go with the most up to date center if you can God bless!!

I've heard of women getting their 2nd opinion at one of the big cancer places or with one of the experts and then having the chemo locally.

If you can get BRCA testing now, that might influence your treatment plan.  Going off on a bit of a tangent, if you haven't had surgery yet, it would be good to get tumor marker blood tests.  I didn't have them before surgery and now I don't know if it's a good test for me or not.

Beaming good thoughts and good luck your way!
