Dr. Susan Love's HOW study needs us all!
In case you haven't seen this or have been too busy to respond, Dr. Susan Love and The City Of Hope are collaborating on a huge and exciting international on-line study to get a better of understanding of breast cancer, including its potential causes.
Here's a link: https://www.healthofwomenstudy.org/
Women with and without bc are needed, so please pass this along to every woman in your life!
Let's make a difference! Deanna

Thanks for posting this Deanna. It is a really important study and could make a huge difference to our sons and daughters. In addition to all women, they want men with breast cancer or with a likelihood of developing breast cancer . I signed up and so have my daughters (who are young women without breast cancer).

Mandy, THANK YOU for pointing out my oversight about men also being recruited!
I filled out the general questionnaire and then a shorter one on my bc dx, and it only took about 20 mins. Deanna

Thanks Deanna! I signed up from your link. It was easy. I hope someday our concerted efforts make a difference!

What a great way to give back and potentially help someone in the future. Thanks for sharing this important study. Tammy

Already completed mine!
Now I need to get my friends involved...
Thanks for the reminder, Deanna!!!

I also filled it out, Thanks Deanna. They also have one I do that comes to my E-mail called Army of women which is like this one as well.
-
Thanks for posting, appreciate it as it is good to be involved

Yes, Debbie, it's the Army of Women, which I forgot to mention above. Thanks for pointing that out. If you're on their email list they will notify you about upcoming research studies, but this is the first one that hasn't been very specific re. locale, age, heritage, date of dx, etc., or required time & travel for face-to-face interviews and/or blood draws. I think the scope of this one is really exciting! Deanna

Done! I'm also participating in Northern CA Kaiser Permanente's Pathways study, which is taking a look at nutrition, vitamins & supplements, and other lifestyle choices that will hopefully enhance our knowledge of prevention of ca, and also ways to keep recurrences at bay.

Done. And thank you for posting.
-
Deanna- I agree this is better, I never was a candidate for the other stuff they sent out.
-
Thanks for posting this. I'm all signed up. Feels good to be a part of something that can make a difference.

Just signed up and filled out my initial questionnaire. Thanks for posting!

Thank you so much for bringing this to our attention. Straightforward questionnaire that might give some answers to help the next generation.
-
By the way, it's one of the most user-friendly, lightning fast interactive on-line questionnaires I've ever used. You can even pause and go back to it later if you can't finish it in one session.
Thank you to everyone who's taken the time to sign up. I am just so hopeful that the more participants they have, the more quickly patterns will be revealed that will lead to real breakthroughs in figuring out why we develop bc and how to prevent it!
Keep those sign-ups coming! Deanna

Thanks Deanna,
I clicked on the link you provided and completed the questionnaire. I am having dinner with my "BreastFriends" tonight and will encourage them to join the study too.

Thank you for posting. I will sign up and also link to this on my Facebook page.

Thanks for posting this, Deanna. I had signed up for the Army of Women in honor of Marybe and the HOW study is the first research study I qualified for. Agree it was a very well-designed set of surveys and quick to complete.

I signed up, but now that I'm on the "HOW" study page, the darn thing keeps hanging up. Every time I click an available "questionnaire" button (doesn't seem to matter which one), the screen fades out and says, "Please wait. The request is processing," but *nothing* happens. It just sits there, forever. No progress bar, no timeclock, nothing at all to indicate that anything is happening.
I'll admit that my operating system (a Mac OS) is out of date, as is my browser; but I'm able to browse the web and accomplish pretty much anything else I like to do. You'd think if these guys wanted many thousands of participants in this HOW study, they'd have made their system compatible with pretty much any browser - even the slightly outdated ones. I guess not.
This will be the 2nd time I've bailed out on the Army of Women. I signed up a long time ago and registered for a couple of studies. One responded that I didn't meet their criteria; another responded that they already had enough participants (so, why was my participation solicited?). For the most recent one - within the past 6 months - I met the enrollment criteria and was told I'd be contacted, but ... nothing. Never heard a peep out of them. <sigh>
