Skin Color change on MX side above scar line?

Options

So it hasn't been very long, maybe a about 8-10 days that I have had this spot, but I am still scared.  I called the MO last week and they said to watch it for another week and if its not gone to come in.  I have a now dime sized, it was a little smaller red skin discoloration with no lump right above my scar line close to my armpit.  It looks kind of like i got a scratch, the skin is a little "rough".  I don't know how to explain it.  not quite scaley but the skin around the edge of the spot is lifted.  I am a few months out of treatment for ER/PR+ Her 2 neg BRCA2+  stage 3C cancer and I am petrified. So far I have been able to hold it togethter, but this spot really has me worried.  I told my hubby about it, but I don't really want to confide in him how worried I am if its nothing, he and my son have been through so much.  I am supposed to wait until at least Wed before I call the dr back but I don't want to.  Is there anything else it could be.  I am completely numb so I can't feel if it hurts.   It started as a tiny spot I woke up itching one night but it hasn't itched since.  I asked the PA if it could be cellulitis and she said they aren't that small.  She thinks its an infected hair follicle but its not getting any better, if anything its gotten a little larger.  I am pretty piss in my pants scared, I know everyone is in this situation, but any advice would be appreciated.  I don't want to worry friends or family if its nothing.

Can you describe the spot some more?  Is is round?  You say the skin around the spot is lifted?  Is it darker, almost like a ring?  Could it be ringworm? Look up a picture of ringworm. That would be a fungal infection, which is likely possible and I think may even be common after treatment.  The area is more susceptible to these types of infections. Go get a fungal creme for ringworm and put it on the spot and see if it helps. Good luck!

I got lots of warnings about side effects but none about being more susceptible to funguses and such :( Yuck.  I got some lamisil or whatever that fungus med OTC stuff is last night and it seems to be better today.  I just have to get some rest so I don't get sick since apparently my son and my hubby are both very sick and on Antibiotics right now :( Yuck.

Thanks Kathleen for the advice, there really isn't a ton of info our there on spots like this.

Mini, have you tried hidrocortizone cream?? I get small red, a bit itchy spots now and then around the area of my scar , pretty much what Kathleen described. I was too worried at first and was thinking to go show my onco, but tried the hidrocortizone and it disappeared in a few days, though faded away the first day. Please try it. Hope it works.

I didnt have a MX, but after my LX i had a strange discoloration on my breast, well above the surgery site.  It eventually darkened and peeled.....and now its gone.  My surgeon thought it could be a reaction to the tape they used.  It took a few months to completely go away.

My spot was not raised.  Maybe a derm doctor can do a scraping of it and get an idea of what it is.....

I am going to call the dr tomorrow for an appt.  Its still there :(  I thought it was getting a little better with the fungus cream, but I don't really think so... Could be my system is on fight overload, I have finally succumbed to the sickness hell that the baby and hubs has had for the past few days.  Mind you not as bad  yet, but still I don't feel great.  Will let you know how it goes.  Lets just hope its a fungus that needs a stronger cream.

So I saw the MO PA and breifly another MO in the practice.  Both think its not a reoccurance, but they also don't know what it is.  She says it looks like a burn of some sort, something maybe rads related, but its weird being so far out of rads.  So I am off to the derm...
