Swollen and sore lymph nodes

Hi all. I am getting weekly Herceptin/taxol infusions and also taking Tykerb. Chemo #5 was yesterday. A couple of weeks ago, I noticed that some of my lymph nodes (the ones right next to my ears) and one of the ones behind my ears (didn't even know we had lymph nodes back there - just felt like a bump that was bruised but hubby said maybe it was a lymph node - looked it up and he was right! - who knew? Lol) were swollen and sore. I have not been sick at all, no fever, blood counts normal. I wondered if maybe it was just a side effect from chemo. Looked it up and got scared it was mets. Onco nurse said to see my GP to have a look in my ears and throat, that the onco didn't think it was related to my cancer and didn't think it was mets. I know I'm not sick in ears and throat though.

Anybody had this happen? After my chemo yesterday, the nodes are actually down today. Hubby thinks maybe steroids caused them to go down and that they'll swell back up once steroids are flushed out. Any ideas?

Sorry, I am no help to you....but...

What I have done is noted where my onc feels for swollen nodes when I go in for a check-up, and I check those places about once a week - above collar bone, into armpit, under sides of jaw bone.

I have learned though, that most of the time, we worry needlessly, and the onc, who sees tons of folks in our situation, is wiser. Not that we shouldn't question, however!

So, I tried to do a little research and I came up empty handed.  All I can say is what I would do...I would request a scan...an MRI...something to tell me that it isn't what I would automatically think it is...afterall, the swollen gland under my left armpit (yup..didn't know I had those there...) made me panic before I was diagnosed.

If you have the means...get this checked the right way.
