Do we have an official Team website for our to send to people when we be..uh..ask for donations?
Kay -
Welcome Kay! This is your fundraising page:
http://www.active.com/donate/detroitrace4thecure/kdMGalipe
There is a button on there for your friends to select to contribute. Like your story and sense of humor! Sorry you had to join us (bc I mean, not the team).
For some reason the team fundraising page is only accessible with my password. This page has who the donation was from and dollar amount. All donations to team members give the full team credit. I'd give the info out but anyone can get into my profile screen with my credit card info. I don't know why it is set up like that but I will keep looking for donations and send you the info like I do with kats.
I wish there was a way to edit the page to remove the top banner but I already tried. That has been the same banner for years and I'm a little tired of it!
Thanks for joining our team and making us "official"!
Nancy -
Kats & Kay,
If you select this page http://www.active.com/donations/campaign_hq.cfm and login, do you see a tab called "View Reports"? Can you try it for me please?
Thanks!
Kay - just noticed your other post. I'd say you should count as 2 survivors! -
Glad you joined Kay. It will be nice to meet everyone.
kats -
Nancy,
I used your link and signed in it took me to my fundraising page, I clicked on view reports and saw all the people who donated to me, I don't know why I never checked that before DUH!!! I think you, as the Team Captain are the only one that sees total donations from the fundraisers of Team members.
Glad to see Kay signed up.

Thank you kindly for those sweet words, Kats. I can only see my own money too.
Hey! My DH donated $10 and so did one of the women at his office. I'm off to a running start. Ye Haw!!! I am excited. This is gonna be a TON of FUN! Umm are we all going by ourselves, or do you think we could meet somewhere outside of the city and carpool? Most people are coming from the west--maybe we could meet on I-96 or I-94 or ??? at a restaurant???? -
Glad you can join us Kay! Thanks for making us official.
Nancy - Thanks for the link in your last message - I can finally take my last name off my fundraising page. I probably won't, but I'm glad to have the option.
I'm all for carpooling if anyone's coming from the east side. I'm in the M-53 and I-69 area.
Irene -
Irene,
Nancy and I discussed this option, if a group of people were interested in carpooling etc. I could make my reservations at a hotel in the area that's in a convenient location, we could meet there and carpool or convoy etc.
Let me know.
kats -
No new members from last night but I did get a response from Jan, the Komen contact...
Quote:
...online registration for teams is open thru May 21. I'm sorry they are having problems getting registered.
I suggest they contact our friends at Active, the vendor for our online system. If they will go into the registration site again and click on the Help desk - this will allow them to send an email with their problem. Active personnel are very good about getting back quickly.
Let me know if this does not get resolved within the next day or 2 and I'll see what else I can do on my end to solve the problem.
Jan -
I still don't know if I am registered or not. Active sent me an email saying that I had an acount, but I don't know if I am registered for the event. How do I check? Also you haven't seen me in the last 3 mo. I have gained SO much weight!
Ann -
Anna - I will get a confirmation and your name will show on the team roster. You should also get another confirmation to your email address. Don't worry yet, it may just be slow. You got somewhere if you were able to set up an active account. I'll check again in the morning and see if things were updated.
Shel38 and buddy are signing up soon. We are going to have a great group. -
Ok, guys, my husband's company just made a big donation. I am SOOOO happy. What are we up to??? Do we have a goal???
And Kats, I LOVE your little dancin' icons. You gotta tell me how you do that. Pretty please? -
Kay,
So happy to hear your husband company made a big donation. I think it's only you and me that have done fundraising and my dollar amount raised was only $200.00 so add that amount to what yours is and that's the Teams total. Nancy being the Team captain is the only one who can see the combined total from all Team members.
I love adding little animated gifs to my posts, I guess I have too much time on my hands.
Here's how to post the gifs and pics:
You can use any one of these three sites: www.tinypic.com , www.photobucket.com or www.imageshack.us . They're all free sites, with photobucket you need to register though but it's free. I usually use photobucket. There are more options available using photobucket, you can store your pics and gifs there and you can also resize pics making viewing and posting pics better by using the edit fuction above the uploaded pic. You don't need to resize if posting a gif.
You'll see three codes below your upload gif or pic. Use the IMG code, highlight, then copy and paste it on whatever thread on the board you chose. When you are ready to paste be sure you have the cursor in the message box.
Here's a site to get you started with gifs: http://www.geocities.com/victoriahollylynn//index.html
kats -
Kats is the queen of animated gifs! I like that bottom link. Thanks.
Anna, I do not have a confirmation for you this morning. I think your next step is to send the Active.com help desk a quick message to see if you are really enrolled. email: givingsupport@active.com
or call
1-877-228-4881
Kay and Kats are also the fundraising queens! I didn't set a goal because I didn't want THE PRESSURE of fundraising. That is what always turned me off of the 3-day walk. You have to raise $2K or you don't walk. Yikes!
There is a link to thank the people who donated. We will have to do that.
Kay - love that braid and nice pic.
sei38 - Nurses behaving badly? How about bc.org team behaving badly. I'm bringing my digital camera - I have to warn you!
Are Irene (SEI) and I the only ones who want to do "This Crazy Jacket"?
http://thiscrazyjacket.com/host/hosting.htm
I'm not sure it is available. You have to write something catchy to have them send it to you and it is getting popular. Let me know what you think? We could take a team picture in front of the banner with our littlest team member wearing the jacket? That would be one of the kids or maybe shel! They give $5.00 to the American Cancer Society. -
Michelle (shel38) joined our team!!!! Welcome Shel!!
(thanks for that gif site kats)
It's almost like we need our own Michigan topic! I feel bad if anyone else it trying to organize a get-together right now.
We still need to find a meeting place and time. I'm still leaning toward the Survivor tent and I'll be there first so tell me what time! My friends are coming around 8:00 but if I twist their arms to make it 7:30, is that too late for everyone? I'm flexible so just let me know! My biggest problem will be carrying everything but I think I will bring a rolling suitcase and leave it with the UPS hold area, a perk they are offering. So, we now have 17 members!
Anna - need to get you in here. I don't show you enrolled. My friend has a buddy who is planning on joining. Shel's buddy may join. Still hoping Connie Sue joins! Only 3 more days to get everyone enrolled (counting today).
I'm looking forward to this!

Hi,
Nancy - I checked with my DH and I'm free if you still want to go the the Team Packet Packup (say that 3x fast). Let me know and I'll sign up. Sounds like it could be fun, and free food is always good.
The Survivor Tent sounds fine to me. I'll probably get there some time between 7:00 and 7:30, depending on if I get lost, or hit the snooze too many times.
If I get there early, I'm sure I can find a way to amuse myself until everyone gets there.
Kats, did you find a hotel yet?
Irene -
Great Irene! I'm in. That means we get the packets early. Are the East siders still meeting at Oakland Mall? If yes, you could take their packets. If not, I'll take them and get there early to pass them out.
What time will you be at the Team Packet Packup... blub blub that is hard to say!? -
Irene,
Nope, haven't booked a hotel room yet. Still trying to figure out where I want to stay, has to have an indoor swimming pool for my 7 yr old. Ideally a king size bed & a sofa sleeper, if I can't find that then 2 queen size beds. Thinking maybe Dearborn but there's a nice hotel in Novi that I'm thinking about too.
kats -
Just want to get luckyanna's attention. I don't show her on the roster so I'm hoping she can get on the team today. Our deadline is midnight tonight.
kats - you didn't mention how long you will be in town? If you are staying Saturday night, you might think about visiting Frankenmuth. That is a great place to see that probably 45 minutes from Novi. (Am I close on that estimate anyone?) Greenfield Village in Dearborn is very nice also. Too bad I haven't been there since I was a kid and I worked in Dearborn for several years. Good luck with your selection. -
Hi there,
Sorry to say but Frankenmuth if more like two hours from Novi. But Greenfield Village is always good.
I will check again with my neice today. And Conniesue was suppossed to join this weekend. Maybe by tomorrow you can post the names and maybe we can just make decisions about where and when to meet.
Looking forward to it! -
Nancy,
I think I may be the only eastsider. But since I may get there before you, anyone who wants to go early to the survivor breakfast can let me know before Saturday and I'll take their packs.
Any time is good for me - what time did you want to get to the Packet Packup? Maybe 10 or 11?
Irene -
Not me - I don't see conniesue or any other names listed on the team roster yet. If they don't make it by midnight, they will not "officially" be counted on the team to get prizes but of course they are with us anyway.
Irene - How about 11:00 for the package pickup? I haven't called racelady yet but figure tomorrow will be best.
Guess what - It looks like we will be able to get "THE CRAZY JACKET"!! The only stipulation is that I get it to the next group in NJ by the 14th so I will send it out the next day (the 11th). On top of that, it is going to our bc sister jqrjunque! I noticed that Irene is typing at the same time as me. Maybe we can get a shot of a celebrity in the jacket for their web site! Great idea. My friend still thinks that Melissa Etheridge is going to be in town that weekend. Now wouldn't THAT be neat if she popped in? I know, I'm shameless. The only celebrity I've ever met is Leon Russell. So, I'm REALLY REALLY showing my age! -
Nancy -
I sent racelady an email this afternoon asking if she needed anything other than my name to sign up. 11:00 sounds good to me.
Leon Russell? I'm impressed. -
Finally I am registered!!
Ann -
Great news, Ann!
-
You are not going to believe this but we got 3 more members who signed-up last night!!! I see Anna did and I think the other two will be a surprise. I'm not positive about the name so I won't say yet.
That brought us to 19 members! Whoohooo!
Irene - you remember Leon Russell? I made my husband park behind the club he was at and we "stalked" him. He came out to leave with two women, one on each arm. I jumped out and asked for his autograph and got to kiss him! I was in heaven. None of my friends were that big of fans so it was only a big deal to me. I owed my DH for that one. He humors me I guess. -
ANN
when do we find out who the other two new Team memebers are?
(Probably Rex cats, not Sphynx but reminded me of you when I saw it)
kats -
Ok the secret is out! 3Bears and her daughter joined our team! Welcome Mamma bear and baby bear! Sister bear might also join us tonight!
I'm pretty sure those are Sphynx cats and I am definately saving that picture!!! They look hairless to me. Rex are cute also but they have that tight poodle fur. Kinda like ours when it grew out. Those EARS are too cute.
My DH is starting a new rumor. It could be Sheryl Crow that is in town that weekend and just may be our mystery celebrity???? It doesn't look like she has a concert that weekend and will be in Indiana the following Monday. Wouldn't that be too cool?
I got a PM from Melissa and she gave me another contact for our t-shirts and banner. I'll send her the final list either tonight or tomorrow morning. -
well............i'm getting kinda "geeked" now! my best friend silvana is joining, she might be late registering for the "team", but she's running for us! we're going to come over on friday night, hit mexican town and shop a little, then stay at troy hilton........i'm gonna need to give someone my cell number to make definitely sure we get up on time!!!!!!!!
i'm really excited to meet everyone!!!!! if i ever figure out the donation page i'll have a ton of donations!
