1 year cancer-versary
It was one year ago yesterday I got the awful news of my dx: stage II grade 1 6/11 lymph nodes positive ILC, 2 c. But I survived 1 lumpectomy, countless tests and scans, 16 chemo infusions, 33 radiation tx, and am having no problems with the 20 mg. tamoxifen I take daily. Still looking at a BMX and recon in less than a year, since ILC tends to be multi-focal and I have dense breasts that hid my tumor in spite of 5 clear regular mammograms.
Right now I'm considered NED. I'm grateful for so many of you who have supported, advised, and inspired me. I could not have felt this good mentally, emotionally and physically if it weren't for these discussion boards and I mean that with all my heart. It's difficult to express in mere words the level of support I've received here. I get teary just thinking of it now.
Yesterday to celebrate my life I hiked 10 miles RT to 12,633 feet elevation, the highest point in Arizona. I'm in the best shape of my life and I think I'm perhaps happier than I've ever been as well.
Love to you all and thank you, BC sisters.

Amazing and beautiful!
I'm curious what would I consider my anniversary? The day of diagnosis or the day my BS told me chemo worked and there was no cancer left?

Claire: Congrats!!! Though I have my ups and downs, I too am in the best shape I have ever been in and so grateful for it!
You truly are inspiring and should be so VERY proud of yourself.
From one yogi to another: Shanti, Shanti, Shanti (Peace) for the rest of your days.....and may they be many

Shayne, I hiked the Mt just beyond my front door: The San Francisco Peaks, the highest point in Arizona. We are at 7,000 feet in town; the hike starts at 9600 feet.
Karen, gosh...not sure what day you would pick. For me--my dx date/anniversary WAS my lumpectomy surgery date, and I had no visible involvement beyond what they took out with clear margins on that day. I didn't know it was cancer till I had my lumpectomy.
I know I've posted it before, but every time I push my body beyond its limits--when I push it to do something challenging--it is my way to say "screw you, cancer". And all that physical energy really releases a lot of fear and some anger that I still experience from time to time, too.
Thank you all for the good wishes!
