I was coming out of the bathroom when my drain tube snagged the door knob and it pulled out the drain enough to stop pulling fluids. went in and nurse went ahead and pulled rest of tube out. tomorrow i will have surgery to have them put back in. when i left there i started swelling really fast, so i called dr and he said to do absolutely nothing....well i got up to go to the bathroom and coming out i got very dizzy and now my chest is tingling so bad. I dont know if the fluid can cause a heart attack or not but i am freaking out.....has this happened to anyone else?

I had a seroma develop when I had a drain unknowingly pulled early. For me, I did not notice the seroma for almost 2 weeks. It drained 220cc. I do not believe the extra fluid could cause a heart attack.

I don't think its harmful. Depending on the size they either drain them or leave them alone to be absorbed over time. So if you're getting the drain put back in everything should be ok.

How long were your drains in before they pulled out.  Mine pulled out about 4 days after surgery and I was down to about 50ccs a day.  I got a tiny bit of swelling but nothing really bad.  Its not the end of the world!  As long as your fluid output has started decreasing you should be ok!

Well the fluid is still building in my chest but in a couple hours hopefully that will feel better. The drains were in for 6 days before it got pulled out. Thank you for input on this. It really does help to know others have had the same concerns. Sucks that any of us had to deal with this. :)
