Just wondering if anyone has been treated with hyperthermia and what data is out there about results since it's not really accepted here in the US?  I've just been rediagnosed with mets to my liver.  I've started herceptin and tykerb but want to keep all options open-I have 2 small boys and they need their mom!  Thanks ladies!

Anyone had or know of someone who's had hyperthermia in conjunction with chemo or radiation?

Sorry there haven't been any responses. I don't know of anyone, but there are people getting something called SIRT. I don't know the details but you might want to do a search. There's also something called theraspheres but it might be the same thing. Look that one up too. Sorry about the mets dx. I just was dx in july with mets to the spine. Its devastating but weirdly I feel pretty ok lately, like everything is going to be fine. Good luck. I have seen people on here who have been NED for a long time with herceptin. I don't have HER2 but it seems like a miracle drug.

Thanks HLB-sorry for your diagnosis.  Sounds like you were diagnosed right as I was noticing a lump in my stomach that turned out to be the guest in my liver.  Her2 is a great drug-waiting to see if it and Tykerb are going to work well together.  Be happy though that you don't have HER2-I think it's among the fastest and most agressive moving.  The lump in my liver doubled between July and beginning of September.  I too am feeling good, hoping that means something positive!

Good luck and hugs to you!

Dr. Ursula Jacob in Germany has used the chemo/hyperthermia combination. If I were searching, I'd contact Burton Goldberg for a consult. He has done some excellent reviews of the German Clinics.  The clinics change so you have to get the most up to date information to make sure that the doctor you want is there and doing the same protocol.

Thanks for your responses ladies-I'll have to look into the theraspheres and SIRT.  The above link is a site that another member here sent me for a clinic in Canada who provides hyperthermia treatments.  She said she had great success there and met people from all over north america who had travelled there for treatment.  My oncologist isn't a fan because there isn't much in the way of clinical trials but I'm open to all options.  Take care and hugs to all!
